The Proscenic P16 has become more expensive than its predecessor, but of course it's not by chance.

Introduction, what is this article about?

Cordless vacuum cleaners have finally taken their rightful place in our lives. It took a long, several-year struggle, and of course, a lot of development.

Proscenic P16 – the new benchmark among cordless vacuum cleaners 1

I've been using these machines for quite some time, actually I started long before battery-powered solutions, when these wall-mounted upright vacuum cleaners were a real curiosity. They made cleaning much easier, although dragging the cable behind us did spoil the experience a lot.

Then came the age of batteries, and not surprisingly, these upright or stick vacuum cleaners also became cordless. And with that, they lost their usability. In other words, their usability was significantly reduced, since the suction power was low and the battery operating time was measured in 1-2 minutes (at least at maximum speed).

Proscenic P16 – the new benchmark among cordless vacuum cleaners 2

Nowadays, however, we have reached a point where the suction power of an upright vacuum rivals that of a traditional vacuum cleaner, and the battery life with usable suction power has reached nearly half an hour. What is this, if not a revolution?

So it's understandable that many people viewed these machines with understandable skepticism, but nowadays there's no place for skepticism! These machines have become livable, usable, and extremely useful helpers in keeping our homes clean.

In this article, I will introduce a vacuum cleaner whose performance and suction power rival the top-of-the-range, but its price still places it more in the middle of the mid-range category. There are tangible, visible signs of savings, the question is whether these matter enough to make us give up on the excellent performance.

In this article you will get the answer to this question!

Proscenic P16 – the paper form is stunning!

The thing is, Proscenic has clearly stepped up a level with the P16, at least in terms of specifications. Of course, not only that, but also in terms of model numbering, because until now there was a continuity in the numbering. There was Proscenic P8- P9- P10- P11- P12- P13, but now the P14 and P15 have been left out of the line, we have jumped straight to the P16.

I don't know the reason for this, maybe the manufacturer will fill in the gap in the numbering later. However, I do know for sure that this gap is justified, since in terms of suction power, the difference between the Proscenic P13 and P16 is almost 30 percent. While the former had a suction power of 35 kPa, the data sheet of the Proscenic P16 already shows a suction power of 45 kPa.

Proscenic P16 – the new benchmark among cordless vacuum cleaners 5

However, it is somewhat suspicious that the suction power of the P13 was also given in AW (which I also welcomed in my review of the machine), because larger manufacturers already give the suction power in AW and not in Pascal, so the Proscenic P13 was easier to compare with its more expensive competitors in terms of specifications.

In the case of the Proscenic P16, the motor power was given alongside the suction power indicated in pascals, and it is 550 watts. I should note that this is quite impressive data, I am very curious to see how much this power will be felt during the test!

Proscenic P16 – the new benchmark among cordless vacuum cleaners 6

Okay, what else?

An important piece of information is the battery capacity, which in this case is 2200 mAh (65,12 Wh), which according to the manufacturer is enough for the vacuum cleaner to operate for 55 minutes on a single charge. They say that we can clean a 55 square meter apartment in 230 minutes. I am pessimistic after reading this statement, but let it be…

Good things to come!

Here is the dust container, which according to the distributor's data sheet is 1 liter. I think it looks bigger than that, so I checked the manufacturer's website, and they do say one and a half liters. This is a very large size, I would be surprised if it were a weak machine, but here we can talk about 45 kPa suction power, which is probably enough to fill such a large dust container so that we can still vacuum with the machine.

Proscenic P16 – the new benchmark among cordless vacuum cleaners 7

Regarding the dust container, it is very important to highlight that compared to the 3-layer filter system of cheap vacuum cleaners and the 5-layer filter system of more serious machines, here we get a 6!!!!! layer filter system. This is another data that makes the Proscenic P16 stand out from the crowd of average upright vacuum cleaners!

An interesting fact:

Proscenic boasts about how light the Proscenic P16 is. Well, in practice, this means that it weighs 1,8 kilos. In comparison, the Proscenic P13 (the base model) weighs 1,43 kilos. It's strange what data manufacturers highlight for some of their machines and why.

Finally, one more thing, and then I can share my experiences with the machine!

Proscenic P16 – the new benchmark among cordless vacuum cleaners 8

I was a little hopeful that their new machine would have some kind of automatic heart rate function, but it didn't. For that to happen, it would have needed some kind of dust sensor, but that still wasn't included at this price.

So this is not true, it could have been included in this price, since there are cheaper vacuum cleaners that have sensors, but then nothing else would have been included, not to mention the powerful motor or the large battery. So the point is that the manually adjustable 3-stage suction power remains, with ECO, normal and turbo settings.

Proscenic P16 – the new benchmark among cordless vacuum cleaners 9

Well, now comes the experience!

Proscenic P16 in practice

I'll start with the unpacking and accessories, and of course the vacuum cleaner itself!

Proscenic P16 – the new benchmark among cordless vacuum cleaners 10

The parts that come out of the box are mostly of good quality. The crevice tool is pretty average, the quality of the plastic, the mounting bracket, and everything else. With more expensive machines, we usually get LED lighting at the end of these narrowing heads, but here we can't even dream of such a thing.

What is below criticism is the wall mount. This is such a step back from the manufacturer that I can't really put it down. The mount is a simple plastic slipper that you can slide the machine into. The quality of the plastic is below criticism, there is no charging contact, so we have to plug the charging cable into the machine, and there is no holder for accessories either.

Proscenic P16 – the new benchmark among cordless vacuum cleaners 11

If I had to pick the most disappointing thing, it would be the wall mount, and that's more good news than bad, because it's probably the least important part of the whole thing.

The motorized vacuum head has not changed much, if at all. V-shaped bristle arrangement, one softer and one harder bristle strip behind each other. There is a hair and fabric separation comb, so you won't have to clean the winding fibers too much. I would like to note here that the manufacturer has included a blade with the machine, with which you can easily cut the winding fibers from the roller brush.

Proscenic P16 – the new benchmark among cordless vacuum cleaners 12

The quality of the motorized head seems good, of course there was no test here for several months, so the durability will only be revealed by you, the buyers. In any case, I like the green LEDs on the front of the head, they shine well, the plastics of the head, its design, the articulated tube connection are all pleasing to the eye, so at first glance I would say that this is a good job!

I have some complaints about the base machine.

The structure itself looks great, but really. Compared to the usual upright vacuum cleaner size, it is drab, which is mostly due to the huge dust container. The retractable bristle brush mounted on the suction tube is really cool, and will be best used on upholstered furniture.

Proscenic P16 – the new benchmark among cordless vacuum cleaners 13

Although it's cool, I still prefer the separate brush head, because it can be attached to the end of the suction tube and can be used very well, for example, to vacuum books on the upper shelves. There's no chance of that here, the brush is integrated into the main machine, so you can only use it to vacuum the sofa, for example.

So far, one good point because the solution looks good, and one bad point because the scope of use has been narrowed by this solution.

Proscenic P16 – the new benchmark among cordless vacuum cleaners 14

The dust container is huge, and as I wrote, we get a six-layer filter system. That's good! What I don't like is that the filter part is quite difficult to get out of the container, even though the stainless steel filter in these machines has to be cleaned quite often.

Another interesting thing is that the manufacturer says in the description that there is a sponge filter (aka. sponge, but not bob) in front of the blown air. I looked to see how to access this, I tried to roll, pull, and stretch the plastic cover, but it wouldn't come out. In the end, it turned out that I needed a small screwdriver or something to pop it out of place. Pretty lame solution.

Proscenic P16 – the new benchmark among cordless vacuum cleaners 15

And one more thing I don't like is the weight of the machine. The battery is quite large, so it's not light either. This is somewhat understandable, since the 550-watt motor needs to be fed, and it would be pretty bad if it only lasted 2 minutes at maximum speed.

In addition to the weight of the machine, I didn't particularly like the weight distribution. It pulls my wrists a little more than I would like. It's not a bad thing, and it's mostly felt when I'm not vacuuming the floor, because if I am, most of the weight isn't on my wrists, since the motorized nozzle rests on the floor.

Proscenic P16 – the new benchmark among cordless vacuum cleaners 16

Well, enough about the bad things, now let's get to the good things!

The extension tube can be folded in the middle. I really like this because even though these machines have a bendable elbow at the suction head, there is an angle at which you can't insert it under a bed, for example, because the head lifts off the ground.

Proscenic P16 – the new benchmark among cordless vacuum cleaners 17

The tube that can be broken in the middle helps with this, because this way I can easily vacuum under furniture, sofas, and beds. By the way, I also like the quality of the tube, it's noticeably a good piece!

Noise. The manufacturer says that the noise produced is 62 dB, which seems low for this suction power and performance. But it's true! I measured it, even at maximum speed it's only 75 dB and not from the standard 1 meter, but from half a meter and not in a soundproof room, but here in my office, where there's always some background noise anyway, and the hum is reflected off the walls and everything.

Proscenic P16 – the new benchmark among cordless vacuum cleaners 18

The good news is that the noise is not a buzzing, rattling, or varying intensity, but a steady rustling. In other words, it is not at all annoying or ear-damaging. The reason for this may be that the air path is simplified to the point of being dirty. There are no thousand bends or twists, it goes in and out, smoothly, simply. I suspect this simple air passage also helps to achieve this 45 kPa suction power.

I left vacuuming until last, and not by accident.

The thing is, the Proscenic P16 is the most powerful Chinese stick vacuum I've ever owned. I can't really describe its strength better than the fact that the vacuum you can feel with your hand (I hold the end of the tube) is in competition with our large (and damn expensive) traditional Philips vacuum cleaner.

Proscenic P16 – the new benchmark among cordless vacuum cleaners 19

Seriously, this suction power is surprising, shocking, there is no question here whether an upright vacuum cleaner can replace a traditional vacuum cleaner, certainly in terms of suction power! All this while the operating time is also great!

Unfortunately, there is no automatic suction power adjustment, but this is a point where one eye cries and the other laughs. I like the automatic suction power the most because it extends the operating time, since it reduces the speed of the machine when it is not needed, and winds it up when it is needed. The automatic suction power was what made upright vacuum cleaners really useful machines with adequate battery life.

Proscenic P16 – the new benchmark among cordless vacuum cleaners 20

The Proscenic P16 doesn't lack this feature at all, because it can do it at medium suction power, just like most competitors at maximum speed. You don't have to be ashamed to use turbo mode either, because it can operate for 16 minutes on a single charge even at maximum suction power. So it's great!

Proscenic P16 – the new benchmark among cordless vacuum cleaners 21

Of course, I also performed the usual tests, vacuuming flour, rice, and soup pearls, and needless to say, the machine performed flawlessly in the tests.

Proscenic P16 – the new benchmark among cordless vacuum cleaners 22

I didn't find any serious flaws in the filter system, but I'm not saying I haven't seen better. The very fine flour dust did get through the sponge filter to a minimal extent, but only so much that I couldn't shake flour out of the HEPA filter into my palm. So basically the system works well. I'll note here that we get a backup from the HEPA filter, and this HEPA filter is also washable, so you won't have to spend money on an extra filter for a while.

Proscenic P16 – the conclusion

Let's first point out that the Proscenic P16 is not flawless, but in my opinion its flaws are dwarfed by its virtues!

The greater weight is understandable, with a larger, more powerful motor, a larger, higher-capacity battery. There are still no miracles, but at the same time, if a machine of this weight had had this performance and operating time a few years ago, I would have been shocked.

Proscenic P16 – the new benchmark among cordless vacuum cleaners 23

I don't like the wall mount, and I don't like the integrated brush head (although it's cool). The latter can be used for some tasks, but the detachable head could be used in even more places, so I don't think this was a good idea.

I really like the size of the dust container, how easy it is to empty, and the plastic tab on the lid finally looks good, maybe it won't break off after 1-2 years. The six-layer filter system is really neat, not just because it says it has 6 layers, but also because it really works well.

Proscenic P16 – the new benchmark among cordless vacuum cleaners 24

Last but not least, the suction power has become something quite phenomenal. I'm not saying there's nothing like it on the market, but I dare say that for the price of the Proscenic P16, you'll be hard-pressed to find another machine with similar power.

In summary, the Proscenic P16 is a good machine, and the manufacturer was able to take things to the next level and show something new after the also very good P13.

Proscenic P16 – the new benchmark among cordless vacuum cleaners 25

For my part, I would be happy if Proscenic launched a cheaper and more expensive vacuum cleaner series, because they clearly have the knowledge to release a truly high-end machine, one that I won't be able to get hooked on even for minor moments.

Come on Proscenic, keep it up!

Well, the price was left for last. This week, Geekbuying and HOC.hu are holding a joint spring sale, and as part of this, the price of the Proscenic P16 has dropped significantly. Of course, you need to use a coupon to get this price reduction. The NNNHOChu111 With the coupon code, the price is currently just over 53 thousand forints, which I think is a real bargain for a machine with such capabilities. If you like the machine, you can purchase it by clicking on the link below.
