Introductory
Anyone who knows a bit about upright vacuum cleaners and Chinese manufacturers knows that Proscenic does not produce anywhere near top quality. However, his machines are cheap, strong, and I have to admit, they have improved a lot in terms of quality in recent years.
The Proscenic P13 is currently their most serious machine, which is also reflected in its price. However, this price is still so low that at home, in technical stores, you can only buy joke category upright vacuum cleaners for that much money. Of course, the decision is always in the hands of the buyer, he can buy a more expensive, weaker, but better-known machine from a manufacturer, or he can buy a less well-known, but much more powerful one for the same amount of money.
In this article I will try to introduce the Proscenic P13 to help you decide!
Unpacking and accessories
I am always amazed at how small a box the Chinese guys can put a vacuum cleaner. However, the machines are not small, so it may require serious planning to be able to put them in a ridiculously small box. Of course, it has several advantages. One is that less packaging material is needed, which costs less, so the ecological footprint is also smaller, and we also get the product cheaper. The other is that the transport is also cheaper, since more machines can fit in one unit of space. In other words, the footprint is smaller again and the price is lower again.
Well, the bottom line is that the box is quite small, but everything fit in it!
Compared to the high-end machines, only one accessory is left out, and this is the motorized upholstery head, otherwise known as a mite vacuum cleaner. Knowing the price of the Proscenic P13, I feel this is an acceptable compromise.
However, there is a proper telescopic tube, a smaller brush head, a crevice tool, a wall mount, the large motorized floor brush and we also get a spare HEPA filter and sponge filter. So, overall, you can make peace with the abundance of reserves.
We can't be satisfied not only in terms of quantity, the quality doesn't give the impression of being cheap either. As I wrote above, the quality improves every year, and this can be seen in the quality of the plastics and assembly. Here, there are no more burr edges or casting defects on the plastic parts, so we get a pleasant middle category for our money in the case of the Proscenic P13.
In connection with the accessories, we can already find an extra. Of course, this is mostly considered an extra in the cheaper category, for expensive machines it is now almost a standard requirement that the vacuum cleaner be charged by placing it in the wall holder. I note that my one-and-a-half- or two-year-old Jimmy machine does not have such an option either, even though it was not a particularly cheap machine at the time, even by Chinese standards. So the point is, the charger cable can be plugged into the Proscenic P13 wall mount, so the machine can be charged when placed in the mount.
Before I forget, it is also frank that the battery is removable and replaceable, unfortunately in the low price category it still happens that you get a built-in battery.
Specification
Let's quickly run through the factory data so that we can see how the machine works in practice in the test section!
The motor of the machine is, of course, brushless, with a power of 400 watts. With this engine, the machine has a suction force of 35 Pa, but the manufacturer also gives the AW value, which turned out to be 000. This should be highlighted because more expensive machines tend to see AW and not Pa, so the comparison is easier. Of course, this also shows that in the case of the Proscenic P120, the manufacturer knows that it will not have to be ashamed of this value.
The battery has a capacity of 2500 mAh, which allows the machine to operate for a maximum of 45 minutes on a single charge. After discharge, recharging takes 4-5 hours. Of course, 45 minutes can only be achieved at the lowest speed, according to the manufacturer, we get 15 minutes using the strongest power. That's not bad either!
What is not good is that the automatic function unfortunately does not fit into this price category. The reason for this is, of course, simple, the automatic suction strength adjustment requires sensors that measure the amount of dust in the sucked-in air, and for this, in addition to the sensor, advanced electronics are also needed.
It is also important to highlight the five-layer filter system of the Proscenic P13. This should be highlighted because we usually only get 5 layers on expensive machines, while cheap ones only have three layers of filtration. The five layers look like this:
- Cyclone separation
- Steel filter
- Sponge filter
- HEPA filter in front of the motor
- HEPA filter behind the motor.
What is most important here is the filter on the outlet side, that is, even though a minimal amount of dust passes through the lower filters and the motor, even this small amount of dirt is caught by the filter on the upper, air outlet side. In practice, this means that virtually no dirt can escape from the rear.
Two more things to finish. One is that, despite the high suction power, the noise remains below 75 dB, meaning that you will not need earplugs for vacuuming. The other is that the filters, at least the lower HEPA filter, the sponge filter and the steel filter, can be washed, so it is quite cost-effective, we won't have to buy so many extra filters!
Experiences
I was able to get into one small thing during use, so I'll start the review with that. This isn't a terribly big mistake either, rather it's just a little inconvenience that the engine speed has to be set on the touch screen on the roof. This cannot be achieved with the fingers of the hand holding the vacuum cleaner, so if we want to change the speed, we will need our other hand as well. Well, that was the only mistake, I think we can all put up with it.
The good things:
This vacuum cleaner also has an anti-tangle comb in the head. This is good because hairs, hairs, and fabric fibers cannot wind up on the rotating roller brush. This is a small attention, but if you don't have it, it will be a lot of trouble to cut the coiled threads.
Staying with the vacuum cleaner head, it is very good that we get LEDs on the front of the head, and there are also green LEDs, which are much better than the plain white ones. As I have described several times, this green scraping light allows us to see the fine layer of dust on the floor. So they don't install the LED on the floor head so that we can see the closet and under the bed with it.
In the case of the large floor head, I can only mention the relatively simple, but essentially maintenance-free brush as a negative. In terms of operation, of course, there was nothing wrong with it.
As I mentioned, there is also a display on the machine, this is not something extra. The panel on top of the machine displays important information, such as the operating level and how much operating time is left on the given level. What's more, the machine also indicates when the dust container is full, as well as when the roller brush of the motorized head is jammed or stopped.
It is no longer considered an extra, but I would like to mention that the dust container can be opened with a button, so we can easily empty the vacuumed garbage from the container placed above the trash can.
The test can come, which was conducted as usual. I replaced the very fine powder with flour, which is also good because it is white and leaves a visible mark when it passes through the filters. I used rice to model medium-sized dirt, and soup pearls instead of large dirt.
Compared to my last vacuum cleaner test, everything now worked perfectly. The machine coped with all three types of "dirt", although the larger balls of the soup pearl did not fit under the head, but by raising the head a little, the brush crushed the balls and all went into the container without any residue.
After my last robot vacuum cleaner test, I had to do a lot of cleaning before I was able to collect everything scattered by the machine in my office, but everything was perfect with the Proscenic P13. Everything I wanted to vacuum went into the tank of the machine!
A less spectacular, but at least as important, part of the test is when I see how the filter system works. As I wrote, the Proscenic P13 has 5 layers of filtering.
Well, the system was perfect and a good example of how well a well designed cyclone system can work. The essence of this is that it rotates the air entering the tank, and due to the rapid rotation, the dirt is pushed to the wall of the tank, while the air passes through the steel filter, then the sponge filter, then the HEPA filter, and finally the HEPA filter behind the motor exit the machine.
In the case of the Proscenic P13, the Cyclonos separation and the steel filter proved to be so effective that only a minimal amount of the very fine flour dust reached the sponge filter, and I didn't even find any flour on the first HEPA filter, which is above the sponge. Obviously, it could have been found with a microscope, but nothing got through the first 3 stages of the filter system. This result is excellent!
Summary
The Proscenic P13 is the manufacturer's most expensive machine at the moment, which is no wonder, as it contains elements and capabilities that are only used in the top category. These include the wall bracket with charging function, the five-layer filter system and, last but not least, the exceptionally good suction power of 35 Pa.
In addition to these, I must also highlight the stainless steel filter of the filter system, and I must not forget the brilliant green LED light at the front of the vacuum cleaner.
The choice of materials, the quality of the plastics and the assembly are exemplary. I'm not saying it's an absolute top category, but placing this machine at the top of the middle category is not a big risk on my part.
How long it will last, when the filters will have to be changed, how long it will take for the motor head to fail cannot be said based on such a test, but if I listen to the general quality and my intuition, it will not be significantly less time , such as in the case of a much more expensive Jimmy vacuum cleaner.
So overall, the Proscenic P13 is worth the price. The product can be purchased in the Geekbuying store at NNNFRP13C coupon code 47 282 forintfor, shipped from EU warehouse.
