Problems with Montecito

At the rumor level, it has been some time to hear that Intel has had problems with its new Itanium processor.

The rumors seem to have been confirmed. Referring to "The Wall Street Journal", the Internet newspaper "the INQUIRER" wrote that the famous American newspaper was called by an Intel employee and said that they had really encountered serious problems with the first dual-core Itanium processor. These problems will result in a delay of at least six months and will affect the release of the next generation.
While Montecito will be the company’s first dual-core Itanium processor, Tukwila will already represent quad-core, though not as planned in 2006, as current issues could delay its release by up to two years.
