Introductory
My test of my own Geemax treadmill was published barely a month ago, and the continuation is here. The manufacturer must have liked my work, because shortly after the release I received a letter asking if I would like to try their latest development, the now debuting S1.
This treadmill is so new that it hasn't even been posted on the manufacturer's website, so we can say that this article is also a premiere.
Perhaps I don't need to say that I got it on the occasion, because the C2 I used really came in handy. So what could go wrong if I try an even better one? The Geemax S1 arrived, I unpacked it, now I'm over the first half-marathon distance, so I decided it's time to write about my experience, you can read it now!
Unpacking, accessories
No surprises, a big flat cardboard box that was brought in by a truck with a lifting back. The driver removed the bench from the truck, pushed it into the garage and left it there. It was suspicious that he didn't even take it off the pallet, it's not customary to leave it with the customer. I quickly understood the reason when I wanted to raise it. Well that's hard…
Fortunately, I didn't have to take it up to the third floor, but if you want to use it in an apartment and there is no elevator, it's a good idea to arrange for help in advance! I carried it in, unfolded it.
The box contained a sufficient amount of Nikecell, everything was neatly bagged, so despite the size of the bench and its weight, there were no scratches on it. I took out the description before showing him how to unfold it, I didn't want to spoil anything.
Fortunately, this is not a nuclear reactor either, and you don't even need a diploma to assemble it, because it is designed to be easily folded and put away when not in use. However, it may be necessary to put it away, unless you have a larger chest, or it may be in a separate fitness room. I will report on the exact dimensions in the next chapter!
Besides the bench, there are not many accessories. Two screws, a key with a screwdriver, silicone oil, a manual and the familiar red tweezers with the string from the Geemax C2. It was immediately noticeable that on the other side of the string there is not a magnetic something, but a larger plastic one with two metal contacts.
Paper form
Before I turn to installation, software and experience, I need to put the specification into a readable form. Of course, only briefly, because there are more important things!
So, as I already wrote, the treadmill is a heavy piece, weighing 53 kilograms. The running surface is also large, 1220 x 450 millimeters. Of course, there is also the part covering the engine and the side strips next to the running surface, and with these the bench is approx. It is 35 cm longer and about 16 cm wider than the carpet itself on which we run.
Although the usable speeds are between 0-16 Km/h, this bench is not called a 2-in-1 solution, because the upper frame cannot be folded down during use, as in the case of the Geemax C2. Along with this, of course, there is also a walking bench mode, but I will write more about this in the experience section.
It is much more important that there are no less than 36 pre-programmed running training plans, which are divided into beginner, advanced and professional groups, and within groups we get 12-12 load curves, that is, slower or faster sections within training. Of course, you don't have to choose a type of training, if you don't want to, you can start it, set the running speed and on! It will show the distance and calories burned.
The manufacturer considers it important to point out that the carpet we run on contains 5 layers, which make running comfortable, absorb unnecessary vibrations, etc. In addition, the mechanism that holds the carpet has received special vibration damping, which means that the shaking disappears quite well during running. Not completely, unfortunately, but I will also write about the disadvantages of this in the experience section.
What I haven't written about yet is the heart rate measurement, and what's more interesting is the measurement of the BMI value, that is, we can also monitor the change in our body fat percentage. There is a Bluetooth connection in the pad, but this is also required in order to be able to use the software discussed below.
Installation, adjustment
As I wrote above, installation is not a very complicated thing. After dismantling the packaging, we have to fold up the legs holding the upper frame. To do this, the two-sided fastener must be loosened. The way to do this is to turn it and pull it out a little. It's not complicated either. Then we fold up the legs, insert the fasteners again and turn them. The first step is complete.
In the second step, the frame on top of the leg can be put in place, this is fixed with two small screws. That was easy too!
In the third step, we turn the display into place, and with that everything is in place. All we have to do is plug it into the socket and turn on the main switch. If that's done, don't stand still, but take out the manual and flip through the pages. A lot of things are described in it, Geemax S1 can do a lot, so it's worth going through what's written so that you can use all its capabilities!

I am committing the terrible act of plagiarizing, excuse me for plagiarizing myself, since I already wrote about the software for the treadmill in my Geemax C2 test. I will copy what was written there with small modifications, updating things.
You can download the Kinomap program for free from the shop for your phone. Unfortunately, the free service is only temporary, after the introductory period it costs HUF 2000 per month. There is a reason for this, but more on that later.
So, you download the Kinomap software and the installation can begin. You have to register, it's inevitable, because you'll get an online profile that you can access from anywhere and that stores the results of your workouts. In fact, not only that, but also other things, but first let's see what needs to be set!
So, after installing Kinomap, you have to choose which machine you want to use it on. There is a treadmill, an elliptical trainer, an exercise bike, and three or so other things that I don't even remember, but it's not important, we need the treadmill.
If selected, the type of pad must be specified. To do this, look for a tool called AnyRun. Here you have two choices, click on the top machine you need! Then the program looks around among the available Bluetooth devices. IF Bluetooth is turned on on your phone and the treadmill is turned on, the software will quickly find it, click and the connection will be established.
When we are done with this, we can set our own data, such as age, weight, etc. When everything is OK, the training can begin, and this is where the real essence of the program comes in.
The fact is that, while most applications only serve to log your workouts, Kinomap also gives you the opportunity to run in different places and even compete with others. This should be imagined in the way that the program makes some pre-recorded running routes available for the first time. These are all videos recorded in beautiful places, where the "film" moves according to the pace of our run. In other words, if we run slower, we reach the end of the road more slowly, if we run faster, we can reach the end quickly.

If we complete the challenges, more and more routes will open up before us. While running, you can see where you are running on your phone, but the program also allows you to project the image onto a large screen TV or even a projector, so it is almost as if you are running in different interesting and/or wonderful places.
Well, that's why I say that running at home with this machine is no longer so boring!
As I wrote, we also have the opportunity to compete. Well, this should not be understood as the fact that many people start at the same time, but rather that you can see how far you are in terms of time, and also that if others are also running on the given track, the program says that the next "competitor ” is with meni in front of you, so it also gives you extra motivation to overtake him.

But there is also a competition that starts every now and then. You can sign in here, you can see the time left until the start of the race on the display, then go all in, be the first if you can!
Do you think that's all? No, the program also offers the opportunity for various training sessions, which you can find under the Coaching section. From boxing training to fat burning, everything you can think of is here. But you can also find routes recorded by others, and you can even participate in multiplayer games in various sports.

And, of course, in addition to these super abilities, there are also the traditional things, which means you can track your own progress.
Summarizing what has been said so far, it is somewhat understandable that they ask for a monthly fee for this program, since the content is expanding almost every day, and for me (although I started not too long ago), the multitude of options, trainings and other things that are available are still unfathomable.
I'm not even talking about what I already wrote above, that running at home is orders of magnitude more fun than staring at the wall!
Experiences
Where do I start? Perhaps it will be best to compare the Geemax S1 with the C2 I use!
Although the C2 is not a light structure either (39 kilograms), it is something delicate compared to the S1. The weight of the S1 is 54 kilos, and it is also quite large. The width of the tread is 45 cm (only 2 cm for C40), and the length is 120 cm (only 2 cm for C105). In addition, there is also the length of the part that hides the engine, which is approx. It means 30 centimeters, and laterally, the frame running along both sides is roughly twice 8 centimeters. So the Geemax S1 is no small thing.
Of course, it can't be called giant either, it was designed so that it can be used and stored in an apartment as well. However, as long as I slide the C2 loosely under the bed, the S1 no longer fits. For this reason, they put two fold-out legs on it. Using this, you can push it next to the wall with the wheels installed and set it in a vertical position. So it takes up much less space.
The extra weight compared to the C2 is not only due to the size, but also because the structure is noticeably stiffer and more massive. This can be seen from the fact that, unlike the Geemax C2, there is no middle leg here, the 120 kg body weight given in the specification (while running) can easily be supported by the frame structure.
Looking at the exterior, I can definitely say that the Geemax S1 looks very good. The few but effective brighter plastic surfaces, the large display, the thick frame and legs instill confidence in the viewer. So, in my external opinion, it was very well thought out, even if you can't do great miracles with a treadmill in terms of design.
Among the features, the manufacturer mentions double vibration damping as an extra capability. To be honest, I don't know exactly how this shock absorption works, but it is certain that the vibration caused by 100 kilos is easily tolerated by the structure.
But I have to report an unpleasant symptom in connection with the shaking. Unfortunately, the manufacturer did not put any shock protection in the tablet holder, where the machine is set up. This means that at higher running speeds (at least with my weight), quite a lot of vibration reaches the display and the tablet holder, which makes the tablet tend to jump and move a little.
Since there is no vibration damping in the nut, this jumping and shaking is quite disturbing. Fortunately, this is not a cardinal error, if I owned the bench, I would cut a small strip of Polifoam or sponge and the problem would be solved.
Regarding the test, I have to admit that I did not try the 16 kilometer running speed. In the past, this would not have caused a problem, but now I am still at the beginning of my diet, and with my current shape and weight, I do not want to overexert my muscles, but especially not my joints. So I increased it to 12 km/h, but that was enough for me.
Of course, running is good on the Geemax S1. It's big and strong, and because of the suspension, it's a bit like running on a record-covered track, which is, let's say, orders of magnitude better than asphalt. My new running shoes can change this experience (hopefully in a positive way), of course they also come from China, because the glue on my old Salomon shoes has loosened.
If I want to connect to something on the machine, it's the display. Actually, as a display, the huge fold-out plate makes no sense. It doesn't have any more information than the much smaller C2. However, I would be unfair if I said that the matter is completely meaningless because of this, because it is not at all, in fact!
One very good feature is that I dare to put a larger tablet in the tablet holder, because it rests against the display and will not fall at all. The other ability, on the other hand, is even better than this, and this is what really got me thinking.
The thing is, using the C2, I got the idea that it would be worthwhile to get a table with an adjustable height. Because the C2 (as well as the S1) is not only a runner, but also a walking bench. If I were to add a height-adjustable table, I could put my notebook on it and walk the few thousand steps set for my daily allowance while working. That would be a good idea!
In the case of the Geemax S1, however, you do not need to buy a table! When the display is folded back, my 15-inch Xiaomi notebook fits comfortably on it, so I can use the display as a quasi-table, thus saving the price of a motorized table. If I calculate how much C2 cost, and to that I add the price of a table and a table top, we have arrived at S1. In other words, below that, because the S1 is thus cheaper than the treadmill+table combo.
So, it was an interesting situation that the display of the S1 was unnecessarily large, at least based on the displayed data, but as a tablet or notebook holder it is simply perfect!
Who do I recommend the Geemax S1 to? Definitely for those who need a treadmill that can do more than the entry level, but don't want to spend their retirement savings on it, or if you don't have one, you don't have to break the child's piggy bank. So the price is relatively low. The reason I write that it is relative is because compared to domestic prices, they charge very little for it, but it still costs much more than the Geemax C2.
So the S1 can be said to be more of a semi-professional structure, and not only because of its knowledge, but also because of the frame structure, shock absorption and load capacity. It is a bench on which we can stand up and run out of the world on a daily basis, even with a larger body weight.
But we also have to turn back to knowledge, because it also makes its counterpart rare. Compared to more expensive solutions, perhaps only the automatic tilt change is not included, but everything else is.
Even without the mobile Kinomap software, it can be used to its full potential with the easily available 36 types of running programs, with which we get a load curve with different characteristics, and moreover, from the beginner level to the advanced, with different maximum speed values.
What is clearly better than C2? Well, quite a few things (e.g. the strength of the frame structure), but I would rather mention the placement of the controls during use. On the upper frame, on the side, at our fingertips, we have the buttons with which we can speed up, slow down, start or stop the machine. And here is the sensor for heart rate measurement and body fat measurement.
They put the sensor in a rather stupid place on the C2, you have to twist your wrist a little to be able to hold it properly. This is just the beginning, but if we want to measure the heart rate while running, it is extremely difficult to hold the sensors.
There is no such problem with the S1, I could even measure body fat while running, let's say it wouldn't make much sense. Speaking of which, I don't know if I've described it emphatically enough in terms of capabilities, but I would certainly classify body fat measurement, i.e. BMI measurement, as one of the real extras. While heart rate is measured at quite a few benches, very few measure BMI. At least in this price range.
I have already mentioned the Kinomap software. I love it, running is not boring with this program. One day, for example, I "walked" a tour of the Dolomites. I had already spotted this route for myself a long time ago, it is not too strenuous, but it is a humane tour in reality. I've been there several times by motorbike, and I thought it would be worth walking all the way. Well now, if only virtually, but I did it with Kinomap.
Let's sum it up
S1 is therefore no longer the entry level, but a higher grade. It's bigger, heavier, stronger, and you can speed it up to 16 kilometers per hour. His knowledge is essentially complete, and the software that can be used for it is very good!
However, I only recommend it for a smaller apartment if you have a place where you can store it by placing it next to the wall. Because the bench is not small, it can't be very comforting to avoid a panel. If your space is small and you are satisfied with lower performance in exchange for easier packing, then choose the C2 presented in my previous article.
This reminds me of the fact that I looked at the treadmill prices again, and I was surprised to see that in Decathlon, a bench without a motor, which knows nothing, costs HUF 100. Compared to this, the price of Geemax C2 equipped with extra knowledge of HUF 128-130 thousand is quite surprising. I mean, surprisingly low. So I still consider it today's best buy.
So, if you need higher speed, if you would use it more than once and even to run longer distances, if you need the possibility to work on your notebook while walking with the screen folded down, then the Geemax S1 will be a great choice. At the price we get it at home, we come across structures with much less knowledge, so in this respect, in its category, like the Geemax C2, it is a very good purchase.
