Introductory

When the distributor asked if he was interested in this scooter, he quickly added, "but look, this one is made by Duotts!" Well, it really got a little more interesting, because I didn't really understand why a relatively well-established name had to be secretly replaced with another one. Then I went to the website of the manufacturer (Duotts) and saw that there is no secret, the scooters are printed under the name OOTD.

I'm not saying I'm enlightened, I still don't understand the name change. Maybe Duotts will remain for twin-engine machines?

Well, whatever, let's go beyond that.

So here's an OOTD scooter that has a motor inside, has 1400 watts of power, a usable size battery pack, and looks good in the pictures. What could be wrong? Nothing! It really wasn't a problem, but by the end of the test I had a little more question marks in my head than before the test. At the time I was only surprised by the name, now I don't even understand who this scooter was made for.

Specification - OOTD S10

Looking at the specification, one data caught my attention, the 1400 watt motor. Lately, I've had 1400, 3, 4, this 1400 watt got stuck in the queue, and at the same time, it immediately made me curious. With the KuKirin G29, I trudged up the hill used for the test, albeit with difficulty. The GXNUMX took me up easy, but it was a bit unnecessarily strong for me in the city. So this XNUMX watts might be just right (that's why I undertook this test J). Only the maximum torque of XNUMX Nm worries me a bit, we'll see how long this is enough.

Apart from the engine, there is nothing really interesting about the machine, at least based on the paper form. The battery is 48 volts and 20 Ah, or otherwise 960 Wh. This is quite a normal figure, I'm not saying that I haven't seen bigger, more, but this 1000 Wh should be well within the usable range for the scooter.

The wheels are 10 inches, the brakes are disc, of course mechanical. The brake discs are 140 millimeters, which may be enough for this performance, especially since there is also an electronic engine brake in addition to the mechanical brake. The machine is relatively long, 1210 centimeters, and the width of the tread is 19 centimeters. The manufacturer also felt it was important to specify the ground clearance, which is 16 centimeters. According to them, the height of the user can be between 150-200 centimeters, and the maximum body weight is 120 kilograms.

It is written on the OOTD S10 data sheet that the recommended top speed is 25 kilometers per hour (I will come back to this later), and the distance that can be covered on a single charge is 70 kilometers. The climbable slope can be a maximum of 15 degrees. There is protection against water, IPX4, that is, minor rain and splashing water should not harm the machine.

It is also important that it has Bluetooth (more on that later), there is a front and rear light, and even a position indicator light in front, but we don't get an index. I note that I don't miss it, it's on most similar machines, but it's not worth anything, so with this power they could have left it off, it doesn't hurt me. Among the extras, in addition to Bluetooth, I can perhaps also mention the cruise control, if this counts as an extra.

Outer - OOTD S10

I have already talked about the dimensions, I will not describe this again. The OOTD S10 looks like an elongated machine, its width is small compared to its length. I haven't written the weight of the machine yet, it's 27 kilograms, which is not surprising in this class.

The steering column can be folded down, but its height cannot be adjusted. There is a quite understandable corner support at the back, which can be justified by the 1400 watts and the expected acceleration. There is LED lighting on both sides of the trepni, it glows in a strange orange light, which I like. It will make the machine so friendly.

C chassis at the front, the wheel between the usual double wishbones at the back. There are spring struts at the front and at the rear, with adjustable stiffness at the rear. However, there is no damping within the first spring. The swingarm is a bit reminiscent of the KuKirin solution. Of course, the shape is a little different, and the color is completely different, lemon yellow. That makes it look a bit like a toy roller to me, but that's just a matter of taste, maybe that's just what you like.

The rear light is in a pretty good place, the brightness is pretty good too, I like that, but it's not very interesting. What is strange is the front lighting, because it consists of two parts. We get a V-shaped position light, this always lights up when the scooter is on, and we also get a traditional LED light. It is also built into the steering column, its height cannot be adjusted that way.

On the right side, we find the power button and mode switch, with which we can choose from 4 operating modes, and of course there is also the thumb throttle. These are the usual ones. The first is when there is no electric drive, then ECO, Standard and finally Sport mode. Here, on the left, there is another bell that is integrated with the brake. On the page, we only find the bell and the brake lever.

The instrument is built in the middle of the top of the steering column. It doesn't have too much information. What I like, however, is that it stands at a rather steep angle. While standing on the scooter, the values are still visible and readable, but the sun does not shine into them, so the information can be read quite well even in sunlight. Let's just say that the mode indicator is not there, it is so small that I need glasses to see it with a slight exaggeration.

Basically, I am satisfied with the appearance. It's a bit market-like, but not overly so, the taste of the Chinese designer can be felt a bit, but not disturbingly so. The materials are good, the assembly quality is good, so if I wouldn't even dare to call it a premium feeling, it's definitely one of the better ones.

Assembly - OOTD S10

OOTD S10 scooter test - Just right for the city, not enough for off-road 8

Before you take the cross water off me again, for daring to say that the installation is just putting the steering wheel on:

Yes, the assembly of the OOTD S10 is really just that, you connect two cables, put the steering horn in place, screw in six screws and you're done. But…

If you buy a scooter, take it to a professional who will assemble and adjust it for you, or, if you have enough affinity for assembly, do it yourself. Tighten the loose screws, loosen the overtightened screws, if there is no thread lock on the screws, put them on. Adjust and check the brakes carefully, apply grease to the moving parts and pivot points of the chassis and steering wheel, if there is none from the factory. It doesn't usually happen.

Well, I hope I have now provided enough information for those who are picky.

Installation, that is, the foundations, is not complicated. It's really only 6 screws, this holds the steering horn. After unpacking, the brake did not catch anything, but luckily it was possible to tighten the bowden housing enough that no tools were needed. It will be good for the test, but you will have to adjust it later. The dials were not curved, they did not hit. The tires on the wheels were properly up, they didn't hit either, the scooter didn't shake, so let's just say, basically there was no fault here either.

OOTD S10 scooter test - Just right for the city, not enough for off-road 10

Let's get to the point, the use!

Experiences - OOTD S10

Let's start with the weird or unpleasant things.

OOTD S10 scooter test - Just right for the city, not enough for off-road 11

If you click on the user manual, you can read that the cruise control can be turned on or off from the application. However, they do not reveal the name of the application, nor do they add a link or QR code. You can't find anything in the Play Store that would be good for this scooter either. So it's a huge dead end here. I don't know if the scooter is just so new, or if they don't want to add an app later, it's interesting in any case.

Fortunately, I had an idea. After I managed to pair the subject of my last bicycle test with the Smart Life app (which is a smart home application), I also tried this scooter, and behold a miracle, the program recognized it, so I have an app for the scooter.

OOTD S10 scooter test - Just right for the city, not enough for off-road 12

Let's say that many things cannot be set, you can choose the operating modes and turn on the cruise control, the immediate start (without kicking in), but e.g. you cannot turn off the 25 km/h speed limit. The good news is that at least the program can be used to record a route, this didn't work with the bike either, so this is a good point in addition to OODT. So that's the bottom line. There is Bluetooth, but no factory app. Since there is no factory app, you cannot turn off the top speed limit either, so the recommended top speed is also the real top speed.

Suspension as such does not really exist. I say this because I weigh 100 kilos, so someone who weighs less than me won't even have as much weight as me. We can soften the rear suspension a bit, this can be a minimal remedy for the matter, as well as blowing the 10-inch hose wheels a little softer.

OOTD S10 scooter test - Just right for the city, not enough for off-road 13

On a scooter that can travel at a higher speed, it is better if you follow the factory specification for the hardness of the tires, but here, due to the maximum speed of 25 kilometers per hour, you can release the pressure a little. The key word here is little!

Due to the suspension/damping, we can already tell that this OOTD S10 is not for off-road. Moderate road defects and slightly frozen asphalt are not yet insurmountable problems, but you will already feel them strongly on the shakier roads. So, despite the high ground clearance, this scooter will be suitable for a high-quality road or bike path.

OOTD S10 scooter test - Just right for the city, not enough for off-road 14

Even though the brake is mechanical, and the discs are only 14, together with the electric brake in the rear wheel, it enables quite intense deceleration. So much so that if you don't prepare for it, the braking effect you experience will definitely surprise you. In most cases, it was enough to simply brake with the rear brake, I didn't even touch the front brake very much, even at higher speeds. And I'll say it again, the maximum speed was 25.

I note that with this scooter, speeds over 25 km per hour would not be comfortable. In addition to the hard chassis and relatively small wheels, the width of the steering wheel is not suitable for driving safely at higher speeds.

OOTD S10 scooter test - Just right for the city, not enough for off-road 15

The steering wheel is integrated with the dashboard and the lamp, so there is no chance that you will later put a wider handlebar on the machine. Just for the sake of comparison, the handlebars of the Kukirin G3 are 67-68 cm wide, and the handlebars of the OOTD S10 are 60 cm wide. Let's say the G3 is faster, and even 67 cm is quite small for that speed.

I think it is important to note that the maximum body height of 2 meters given in the specification seems a bit excessive. At 184 centimeters, the handlebar height is just right, although many people would say that it is low. Here, too, I have to note that at a higher top speed, this rudder height might not be enough, but it is still enough in the current state. Perhaps I can still recommend the purchase in the case of a height of 190 cm, I would not like to go above that.

OOTD S10 scooter test - Just right for the city, not enough for off-road 16

I had no problems with dynamism and acceleration, it's comfortable, it's not cutting-edge, but the OOTD S10 can start if needed. Because of the top speed, I don't recommend it for cars anyway, so it's not a big deal that it doesn't want to run away from us.

What can be stated as a fact is that this scooter does not have 1400 watts. This year I am already testing 1000-1200-2000 watt scooters and mine is also 1000 watts, so, just based on recent memories, I can say that this scooter can reach 1400 at peak performance, but I prefer to set it to 800-1000 watts for feeling. performance.

OOTD S10 scooter test - Just right for the city, not enough for off-road 17

On the hill used for tests in our area, the 1200-watt G3 managed to cope (with a bit of trickery), but the OOTD S10 only made it halfway up the hill, running out of power before the steeper final part. So 1400 watts is a joke in this case.

Of course, the factory-promised range was not fulfilled under me either. Of course, we all know that there is a gap between the range test with a 65-kilogram passenger on a test bench in a closed space and reality. I'm much heavier than that, I also drive the machines during the test (as much as the machines allow), I try the different climbs. So, if the test bench measurement is one extreme, the under test measurement is the other. I can be happy if I reach half of the factory value.

OOTD S10 scooter test - Just right for the city, not enough for off-road 18

Of course, this may not be the case with you, you will use it elsewhere, differently and possibly with a different body weight, but as a rule of thumb it is still worth calculating with half of the factory data.

One more thing, if I have already mentioned the more driving use. It just occurred to me that the only way to tilt the machine to the left in a corner is because the footrest comes down. I say again, I'm not talking about typical use, I'm all for trying everything, so compared to everyday use, I decided on much larger ones.

OOTD S10 scooter test - Just right for the city, not enough for off-road 19

In summary, what was it like to use the OOTD S10 then?

Well, it's good after all. I didn't find any serious faults, it's quite dynamic, medium climbs can be overcome with it, the suspension is hard, but it's still orders of magnitude better than any stick roller.

The maximum speed of 25 kilometers per hour is disturbing only in the specification, during use this is the speed that can still be tolerated relatively safely. In this way, I really don't mind that this scooter doesn't go anymore, so you won't even be tempted to race with it.

OOTD S10 scooter test - Just right for the city, not enough for off-road 20

The exterior, in my opinion, is flashy. The lights are good, the index is not missing a bit. I like the orange LED light extending to the side. The materials used and the quality of the construction are absolutely acceptable. What I can tie into is the footrest, which stands at a pretty stupid angle when opened, you have to pay attention to where you rest it, because it tends to fall over.

Summary - OOTD S10

OOTD S10 scooter test - Just right for the city, not enough for off-road 21

Hopefully I've covered everything, I'll try to summarize it briefly!

The OOTD S10 turned out to be a good little scooter, you will love it, at least if you will use it in the city, on bike paths, on high-quality asphalt. He doesn't like to climb mountains, but he doesn't mind small climbs either. It's dynamic, pleasant to use, the dashboard is good, and due to the route recording, the application and Bluetooth also make sense. Another issue is that you will find it difficult to mount the phone holder on it.

OOTD S10 scooter test - Just right for the city, not enough for off-road 22

banggood order in

How would I buy it? Well, it's a little weaker than the G3, but it's more comfortable. There is more room for my feet, the torsion spring of the G3 is harder. On the other hand, the G3 is faster and has a wider steering wheel. So there are pros and cons as to why I should choose this or that.

For my part, taking into account that I also use my own scooter at a retired pace on weekdays, the OOTD S10 is perhaps more sympathetic. At the same time, no matter how likable it is, it still lacks the edge, that little feeling that makes you reach for your wallet more easily.

OOTD S10 scooter test - Just right for the city, not enough for off-road 23

Of course, this only applies to me, you may see it and fall in love with it. If you accept the above and treat the scooter in its place (that is, as a city scooter), then feel free to buy it, the price has been well thought out, that much, or maybe even a little more during the introductory sale, than what is being asked for it.

I received a stronger than usual coupon for this item, so the HUOTS10 code, you can buy it from a Czech warehouse for HUF 296 instead of HUF 902 by clicking on the link below:
