The Start Menu changes again!

As you know, the next version of Windows 10 (19H1) will be released in May, so anyone who hasn’t done so before should now be sure to read the relevant our article! Obviously, with an update of this magnitude, it is very difficult to report all the innovations, but it is definitely worth highlighting the main points. Such as e.g. the development of the Start Menu, which can be summarized in three points:

  • Microsoft has placed the Start Menu in its own process (StartMenuExperienceHost.exeand located in: C: \ Windows \ SystemApps \ Microsoft.Windows.StartMenuExperienceHost_cw5n1h2txyewy). The Start Menu is currently part of the Explorer shell, and if this process slows down for some reason, it will take this component with you. The aforementioned change solves this problem and, according to programmers, improves stability in this way;
  • The next innovation is for better usability: with the right-click context menu, groups can now be deleted from the Start Menu - all you have to do is click on the group label you want to delete;
  • For a new installation, the Start Menu displays items in one column instead of the usual two-column layout, and the range of removable applications has been expanded.
