MacaW TX-80 - for our wellness ears

MacaW TX-80 - for our wellness ears

You know, we like to test cheaper products available to a wider audience - we’re not picky about that. Well, that won’t be exactly the case right now, the miracle of MacaW is by no means strengthening the budget line.

Appearances

The quality is immediately visible on the packaging as well. The large and tasteful box is not ostentatious in any way, it perfectly represents that something serious lives in it. The top of the box is held in place by a magnet (so it is guaranteed not to open accidentally), with the solution I was finally won.

Inside, the TX-80 is housed in three layers of sponge. Highlighting this, we find the accessories: a practical carrying case and another box. The latter includes a user guide, a USB charging cable and a pair of ear pads.

For the first blick, we would immediately highlight two important points from the abilities. One is Apt-X, which covers audio encoding technology developed by the careful hands of CSR plc and promises CD quality (although it compresses the data, but is capable of a very pleasant bitrate of 352 kbps), and the other is IP5X, which shows protection against Let’s continue with a little overview of how to operate, but above all, here’s a first-rate video of the widget. According to the description, the TX-80 sends Qualcomm's CSR8645 chip to the battlefield: the chip can handle two devices at the same time, supports two microphones, and includes DSP (digital audio processing) and five-band equalizer (EQ).

Use

The commissioning (with the right device) took place in a matter of seconds, and the wireless connection of the devices was a snap. When turning on and off, or arming Bluetooth, a machine sound also helps you navigate, so we can't stab you by listening to your device's feedback. The point is not to try to detect the earpiece with your phone until the TX-80 confirms that you have activated the wireless connection. No apps need to be installed to connect, no magic tricks are required in this area.

It was a small problem, the modern Acer Iconia Tab B1-710, which could not be considered modern even after half a half, could detect the earpiece, it just couldn't get the sound through it. Fortunately, with the Cubot X18 Plus, the MacaW TX-80 has already behaved like a guarantor lamb. So lesson: Although you should support all Android 4.1 devices, you may still have problems with the old ones.

Experiences

When in use, keep in mind that the 10mm titanium diaphragm speakers are inches away from our hearing organs. It is by no means recommended to raise the volume higher than halfway (at least for a longer period of time), I think the TX-80 can even cause hearing loss at such a high level! Since isolation is also very significant (the outside world can be ruled out to a considerable extent), this is why we need to consider the environment in which we use it. I definitely found this worth noting because we’re talking about sound performance that is no longer a game.

The TX-80 was bombarded with different music genres, the equalizer was on the ground all the way. I started the “investigations” with a “lightweight” DMX production (DMX - I Don’t Dance ft. Machine Gun Kelly) and then a percussion test file (Speaker Test: Full Range (20kHz - 20Hz)), focusing primarily on the bass. It soon became apparent that the deeper tones were present with the right balance, but dramatic bass wasn’t worth the wait. It’s nice to listen to because it sounds clear, effortless, it just disappears below 30 Hz. The mid-range of the bass was pretty catchy for me, probably one of the strengths of the TX-80.

Then came the other pitches: Demi Lovato - Sorry not sorry, Nickelback - When We Stand Together, then again the Speaker Test: Full Range (20kHz - 20Hz). The TX-70 can be enjoyed at up to 80-80% volume; by this is meant that above this, the middle and high ranges simply reach deafening levels - and this should not be the purpose of listening to music. It is definitely worth mentioning that the sounds are nicely separated in these ranges as well, moreover, the middle emphasis (warm sound image) can be said to be quite clear.

If I want to be very strict (and why wouldn’t I be that?), I could hook up to the high pitched pitches, because wrapped up there is already some distortion here.

The sound leak is average, I don’t think it would be annoying in most environments, however, obviously we can’t say that nothing can be heard from it.

The video below shows some examples of what life situations Gearbest can imagine with this gadget. It also shows how the TX-80 should fit in our ears.

Comfort

I have to admit, the stuff was pretty unusual in the first few minutes. The earplug should be positioned vigorously and meticulously enough to be stable. After that, he has no problems with it, he keeps his position stable, and after a while he gets used to it smoothly. The length of the cord is adequate, the magnets stably connect the ear when not in use, but I was not completely satisfied with the control buttons. There is no problem with their operation, I find there a reason that they could stand out a little better - maybe that would improve the usability a bit.

Since the fit of the rubberized earphones is quite reliable, we can imagine that the manufacturer claims to be a really loyal companion in sports - of course it also depends on the specific activity, it is proven to be good for jogging. The magnetic design was a good idea, because this way the gadget functions as a neck strap when idle, and it's harder to leave.

Evaluation

We were definitely impressed by the MacaW TX-80. Personally, I prefer such a sporty earpiece over the “traditional” one because I’m confident it won’t give in the key so easily (e.g. IP5X protection can come in handy against sweat). The robust appearance, quality packaging and long battery life all suggest that this gadget can be our faithful companion for a long time. Another positive, at the same time, it also increases the service life of the interchangeable cable of the earphones (MMCX socket), so we don't have to waste everything if there is an accident with the cord. The sound quality is great, almost perfect, especially considering how much we have to leave at the box office for this production. In our opinion, both strength and purity are present here, we don’t even have to compromise if we love serious volume. I could have imagined a couple more earbuds, it might have further improved my comfort (if I had already run it on a rubberized neckband), plus I have to admit, it’s not the cheapest wireless earphone on the market. We think it’s worth the price, even though there’s no promotion on it right now, but you definitely need to reach into your wallet.
