Xiaomi is developing a detachable display phone
At first it seems pretty pointless, but at second…
I’ll be honest, when I first read the news I didn’t know what to think of it, but my eyes flashed a second time. Let's see the point!
Xiaomi filed a new patent that shows a two-part phone. This is a modular solution, but here you can not connect additional accessories to the phone, but remove the display. The thing is thought-provoking, because without a display you can't use a phone for anything other than, for example, using a Bluetooth connection to make phone calls through your ear.
Even more surprising is that the drawings show that the self-cameras, because there are two of them, were located behind the detachable display. According to the description, the display will work on its own, it can be charged wirelessly or by snapping it onto the base unit via the built-in connectors.
So far, this is nothing more than interesting, but why did my eyes sparkle? Because I imagined the display could have a Bluetooth connection, possibly a speaker and a microphone. The phone rests in our pockets while we, the rest, use a light and very thin display for work, play, phone calls. From here, it would be just a leap to make the slim, even translucent phones seen in fantastic movies. Really exciting!
