In the case of Oclean X10, it has been proven that sometimes less can be more!

Introductory

I have a toothbrush that I absolutely love and have been using for about a year now. This is Oclean X Pro Elite. Perhaps you can already guess from its name that this is the real peak. It's both Pro and Elite, so parents were involved in its creation. And indeed it is.

Oclean has been one of my top manufacturers for quite a few years now, but in the X Pro Elite they put everything that was available. Frankó Maglev motor, touch-sensitive, color AMOLED display, Bluetooth and phone application for smart functions, wireless charging, magnetic wall mount, Frankó Dupont bristle head. So there was everything, as in the farewell.

However, over the past year, I have had to realize that the X Pro Elite is a bit too much of a good thing. I don't mean that it's a bad toothbrush because of the many extras, rather that a lot of things are unnecessary. For example, the touchscreen is a joke, but adjusting things with wet hands is not easy. The wireless charger is also a joke, but it is no easier to use than a Type-C cable.

The phone app is also good, until the toothbrush taught me how to get a high score for brushing my teeth, but after that, I haven't looked at it for months now. So these solutions are good, but a bit unnecessary.

It seems that not only I realized this, but also the engineers of Oclean, because the new toothbrush, Oclean X10, is just as if they tried to make the X Pro Elite more reasonable. I note that they succeeded!

Packaging and accessories

Oclean X10 comes in an unreasonably large but quality box, as you would expect from a high-end product. The environmentalist in me sucks at this point, because normally, if we had cut the box in half, there would have been plenty, and exactly half the amount of paper would have been used up.

We don't find too much inside, actually only the minimum that is needed to start using the toothbrush. There is the "base" itself, a head, a magnetic wall mount and finally a USB Type-C charging cable. The rest is for the description, installation and use.

External

You can buy the toothbrush in three colors, I received the gray one. This is exactly the same color as the X Pro Elite, although there was no choice of colors, we could only choose from this one. If you don't like this one, there is also pink and dark blue, the latter looks pretty cool based on the pictures.

The shape, the size, the weight are spitting out X Pro Elite, but we can discover some differences even before switching it on. One is that there are two physical buttons under the display, the other is that the end of the toothbrush can be popped out and we can find a Type-C charging port behind the cover.

There is also a minimal difference in design, the X10 is a little younger, less conservative due to the glossy insert on the front panel, on which the lines pattern waves. There are no other differences. The position of the on/off button has not changed, the display has also remained in its usual place, and there is no change in the area of the toothbrush head either.

Here, too, we find quite a few differences from its predecessor, the Elite. Both toothbrushes have a Maglev motor, but while the Elite has 42 revolutions, the X000 only has 10 revolutions. It is hard for me to imagine that they would have stepped back in terms of quality, rather I think that the higher revolutions did not result in a difference in the quality of brushing, but in terms of noise, it was unnecessarily high.

I note that the X Pro Elite also reduced its noise, but the X10 became even quieter than it!

A significant difference is that instead of wireless charging, we got cable charging. The wireless was interesting, but it was of no use, since we needed a USB port, a USB charger or an external battery to charge our toothbrush. So for me, apart from being interesting, this thing is worth zero points.

What seems interesting at first is that in the case of the X Pro Elite it took 2,5 hours to fully charge wirelessly, while in the case of the X10 it took 3 hours with a cable. It's not a coincidence, even if wired charging is usually much faster.

The fact is that while the Oclean X Pro Elite lasted 30 days on a single charge, the X10 lasts 60 days.

In other words, with normal use, you only need to plug it into the charger six times in a year, so I think it becomes clear to everyone how much wireless charging becomes an unnecessary hassle.

A big difference is that while we received a phone application with the X Pro Elite, it no longer comes with the X10. This saving comes with the fact that the new toothbrush does not have Bluetooth, and the software cannot be updated.

Again, this last fact is not a problem, especially not in view of the fact that I have heard from several sources that the software update did not go well for some users, and if the toothbrush was completely discharged it was not possible to recharge it. I didn't have this problem, because I'm not going to update the software on a toothbrush that works well just because I can.

I wrote in the X Pro Elite article that it was the first toothbrush where I saw the sense of a phone application, and I still think so. However, as I wrote above, this app is approx. it was interesting until I learned how to score above 95-96 percent with the toothbrush, which showed that I was brushing my teeth as thoroughly as possible. Now I'm at the point where I haven't even looked at the phone app for months, so the fact that there isn't one for the X10 probably won't make anyone suicidal.

We could discover another difference in the way of brushing your teeth. While the X Pro Elite has 4 brushing modes and a total of 32 versions depending on strength, the X10 has 5 brushing modes (whitening, sensitive, massaging, polishing and cleaning) and 5 strength levels per mode. In other words, on the one hand, we got a plus with more modes, on the other hand, the number of selectable strengths decreased for some modes. The complete math shows that instead of 32 modes, we get 25 with the newer toothbrush.

Experiences

Well, it's a toothbrush, and a very good Oclean toothbrush at that. From that point of view, I don't know much to write about, I think it's perfect. For my part, I also really like the Dupont bristle heads that come with the toothbrushes, which do not scratch, are soft enough, but their cleaning ability does not suffer because of this.

I probably don't need to say that the X10 is waterproof, IPX7 certified, so you can easily wash it under running water, it won't even scratch.

The touch-sensitive display is what is missing in addition to the app. It was a good thing, but I didn't particularly like it. I'm not saying that it's impossible to press the X10's physical buttons while brushing your teeth, because it has happened before, but still, the control with the physical buttons is much better than scrolling through the touch-sensitive display.

The upper button is used to select the desired washing method, the lower button is used to select the desired strength, and the large round button is used to start brushing.

During brushing, we naturally receive a zone warning, that is, during the two-minute brushing time, the vibration stops for a moment every half minute to indicate that it is time to switch from the right side to the left side or from the bottom to the top.

The AMOLED display is just as good as in the case of the X Pro Elite, among the display modes we find a new function, emojis. With this, I can be driven out of the world, because where I see these, I think that humanity is slowly becoming dumber, and instead of words, we only understand from grinning and sad heads.

The point is that, in addition to the previous indication, when we saw on the display how accurately we brushed the different zones and how many points we got for brushing our teeth, we can now also see emojis with stars under the heads, so that we can more easily interpret the quality of our brushing.

Unfortunately, I can't comment on whether the battery really lasts for sixty days, I've been using the toothbrush for a month now and I haven't had to charge it yet.

Summary

As it turned out from the previous ones, there are extra things and there are abandoned skills compared to the previous top toothbrush. I experience these changes as mostly positive, since they are mostly optimizations.

For example, I prefer physical buttons to a touch-sensitive display, and I didn't see any point in being able to set 15 different strengths for a brushing mode.

The toothbrush itself is, of course, flawless when looking at the quality of brushing. Perhaps even small things could be changed, such that if the gyroscope senses that we are brushing our teeth, it disables the operation of the buttons, so that we do not accidentally change the brushing mode during use.

The bottom line is, if these optimized capabilities suit you, then feel free to buy it, you will get impeccable brushing and almost silent operation. If you stick with the phone app, you can still stick with the previous top model, which is essentially the same in price.
