Introduction, or what this article is about

I test a lot of scooters, both better and worse. I had the first OOTD machine last year, and it certainly didn't convince me. It didn't convince me, even though the company is the same as DUOTTS. The latter company makes bicycles (initially, scooters also came under this name), and the former makes scooters. So the roots are strong, intact, good, and give reason for hope, but last year's OOTD S10 wasn't good yet.

We tried: OOTD T10 scooter - the new hope 1

So the S10 wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either. Let's just leave it at that, it's fair. For me, the handlebars were very narrow for its size, the ground clearance was high, but unnecessarily so, because it wasn't really good for off-roading. They say it's 1200 watts, but in practice it's no more powerful than an 800 watt. The handlebar height can't be adjusted. So I had enough complaints.

However, it wasn't unusably bad, the OOTD S10 became a completely usable, usable CITY scooter with the factory speed limit (unfortunately, it could be unlocked)!

So, based on the history, two outcomes are possible. One is that the subject of this article, the OOTD T10 scooter, will be like the S10, i.e. a machine that is said to be better than reality, but of course it can be used with a machine or a scooter that will be up to par with a leveling, i.e. it will save the brand for me. The signs are not bad, because the OOTD T10 scooter stands out with its off-road capabilities based on the pictures. Thanks to the 11-inch (!!!!) pneumatic tires and the double spring suspension, it will be able to successfully overcome road imperfections, and we can occasionally ride it on dirt roads and in parks.

We tried: OOTD T10 scooter - the new hope 2

140 mm disc brakes, both front and rear, provide effective braking, and the built-in LED lighting, turn signals and brake lights make the scooter visible. Its foldable design allows it to be easily stored or transported in a car. However, it will definitely not be good for public transport, as its weight of 31 kg does not make it the lightest model. The large weight is justified, as the load capacity is also high, but more on that later, I don't want to get ahead of myself.

This article follows the usual structure, meaning first there is a paragraph about the exterior, then another about the specifications, the next one about the experiences, and finally we turn to the summary.

OOTD T10 scooter – Impressive appearance

The OOTD T10 scooter looks awesome at first glance, it's robust, strong, big and the black and yellow color scheme isn't bad either (especially if you have the patience to mess around with the stickers, but I'll write about that later). The characteristic feature of the off-road-looking vehicle is the exceptionally high ground clearance and the 11-inch wheels, which immediately indicate that we are not dealing with an average city scooter.

We tried: OOTD T10 scooter - the new hope 4

I should note that for these larger scooters, I feel that 11-inch wheels should be the minimum, because the larger diameter makes them more resistant to road defects, and therefore safer. The massive frame structure and the usable, but not too wide tread suggest stability and reliability at first glance, making you wish you could finally get on it and ride a bigger hoop.

We tried: OOTD T10 scooter - the new hope 5

The handlebars are wide, MTB-style, which provides a secure grip and better control. The handlebars feature a large, almost 7-inch display that resembles a tablet from a distance. It clearly displays the speed, battery level, selected gear, and other useful information, such as the distance traveled. The display is particularly easy to read at night, but is also tolerably visible in sunlight.

We tried: OOTD T10 scooter - the new hope 6

The layout of the controls is well thought out and user-friendly. On the left side of the handlebars are the mechanical bell, the light switch, the gear shift button and the turn signal control. A very special feature is that the headlight can be used in two modes – with white or yellow light, which can be switched between with a simple press of a button. On the right side are the key-operated starter switch (with a built-in voltage meter!!!!!!), as well as the thumb throttle, which has a sufficiently short travel for precise control. I now prefer the NFC card lock, because in the event of an accident, if the key falls, it can cause damage, while the NFC card in your pocket is not so much.

The dimensions of the OOTD T10 scooter are impressive: its total length is 126 cm, its width is 66,5 cm, and its height is 134 cm. Even when folded, it takes up a relatively large amount of space (126 × 66,5 × 58 cm), but thanks to the practical folding mechanism, it is still easy to transport. It is easy to transport if you can lift it, as the scooter weighs 31 kg, which does not make it the lightest model on the market, and it is almost unsuitable for using public transport with it. Perhaps only suburban trains are suitable for this, which you can even board with a bike. The robust design also has an advantage, since the load capacity is 150 kg, which somehow justifies this weight.

We tried: OOTD T10 scooter - the new hope 8

The tread is relatively, but not excessively spacious, with a size of 50 × 23 cm, which ensures a comfortable stand. The anti-slip silicone coating not only provides safety, but also provides a surprisingly pleasant feeling during use. At the rear end there is a slightly raised resting area for the foot (heel), which can be particularly useful on longer journeys and when accelerating and braking. According to the manufacturer, the scooter's recommended user height range is 160-200 cm, so it can be used comfortably by most adults.

We tried: OOTD T10 scooter - the new hope 9

In terms of connection points, the scooter's charging port is located on the side of the frame, equipped with a protective cover that prevents dirt from entering. Charging is done with a 48V 3A fast charger, which provides a shorter charging time of 4-5 hours compared to traditional chargers (this is also due to the not very large capacity of the battery). Another practical detail is the hook on the scooter's handlebar, which is not only used to secure the scooter when folded, but can also be used to transport smaller packages.

We tried: OOTD T10 scooter - the new hope 10

The lighting system deserves special mention, which is expected to be one of the strengths of the OOTD T10 scooter. The front double LED headlight provides a wide, 160-degree illumination, while the rear LED lighting provides 270-degree visibility (if only it could be seen, but more on that later). The turn signals and brake light are not only aesthetic, but also enable safe driving even in low light conditions, at least that's what OOTD says in its description. A special feature is the emergency brake light function, which gives a flashing signal to the traffic behind when braking (I'll have a few words about that too)

OOTD T10 scooter – Technical data

The heart of the OOTD T10 scooter is a 500W rated rear wheel hub motor that can deliver up to 900W at peak power. This motor output provides 30Nm of torque, which is enough to overcome most urban slopes – according to the manufacturer, it can handle slopes of up to 35 degrees (I'm pretty sure it can't), which is roughly equivalent to an average underground parking ramp. The T10 comes with a factory speed limit of 25 km/h, in compliance with European regulations, but it can be unlocked, and then it can reach speeds of up to 50-55 km/h, at least according to the factory data.

We tried: OOTD T10 scooter - the new hope 12

The power supply is provided by an automotive-grade 48V 13Ah (624 Wh) lithium battery, which provides a range of 35-45 kilometers on a full charge under ideal conditions (70 kg load, flat terrain, no headwinds, etc. etc. etc.). The scooter's special feature is the 3 A fast charging capability mentioned above, which significantly shortens the charging time - a full charge takes only 4-5 hours. The fast charging is of course not only due to this, but also to the relatively small capacity of the battery. Fast charging can be particularly useful for commuters, who can easily charge the battery during working hours.

We tried: OOTD T10 scooter - the new hope 13

The OOTD T10 scooter has a number of features for your comfort. The scooter has three speed settings: ECO, LOW and HIGH, which offer different power levels and speed limits. The manufacturer claims that the T10 is 27% more energy efficient than similar products, but I don't know how they calculated this.

To unlock the speed limit, with the scooter turned off, turn the key with the brake engaged and then press the throttle three times - the numbers flashing on the display indicate that the limit has been unlocked.

We tried: OOTD T10 scooter - the new hope 14

The outstanding off-road capabilities of the OOTD T10 scooter are ensured by 11-inch, air-filled, tubeless off-road tires. These large wheels not only increase stability, but also effectively absorb shocks caused by road irregularities. The profile of the tires has been specifically optimized for off-road use, so the scooter can stand its ground on both asphalt and dirt roads. Safety is guaranteed by 140 mm disc brakes at both the front and rear, with sintered metal brake pads, which provide effective braking even at speeds of 25 km/h.

We tried: OOTD T10 scooter - the new hope 15

The T10 scooter also excels in terms of suspension. Both the front and rear wheels are equipped with reinforced spring shock absorbers. Tests show that when driving over 8 cm road irregularities at a speed of 25 km/h, the vibration intensity is 55% lower than on models without suspension (oh, these factory data are always so dazzling). The vibration perceived by the hand is only 33% of what we experience on traditional scooters, which ensures comfortable, fatigue-free wrist comfort even after 2 hours of continuous use. By traditional, the manufacturer probably means stick scooters, these days there is no vibration damping whatsoever.

We tried: OOTD T10 scooter - the new hope 16

The T10 electric scooter's safety and security features seem adequate. It has an IP54 waterproof rating, meaning it is splash and dust resistant, so it can be used in light rain. The lighting system features a prominent 160-degree front LED headlight that illuminates up to 4 lanes wide, as well as 270-degree side/rear blind spot coverage LED turn signals that offer 30 meters of nighttime visibility. The scooter also has a built-in, loud emergency horn that can be quickly activated in case of rain/fog.

We tried: OOTD T10 scooter - the new hope 17

Other specifications of the T10 scooter include a patented locking mechanism that allows for instant folding with the push of a button. The folded size easily fits in the trunk of cars and folds 60% faster than traditional screw-based systems (whatever that means). The CE certification ensures that the scooter meets European safety and quality standards. In addition to all these specifications, the OOTD T10 scooter has a net weight of 31 kg and a gross weight of 35 kg, indicating a robust, durable construction.

OOTD T10 scooter – When reality hits you

Let's start with packaging and assembly!

What will immediately strike everyone is the size and weight of the scooter. This is not a typical 500 watt device, it is well in the 1000 watt weight class.

We tried: OOTD T10 scooter - the new hope 19

The assembly is a bit more complicated than with an average scooter, because you have to screw the handlebar and the handlebar horns into place. On the plus side, the rear fender is finally not a crappy plastic thing, it's a real heavy individual, as if it were a part of some armored vehicle. At first glance, the whole scooter gives that impression. I mean at first glance...

The first negative is related to the installation, more precisely the fact that the stickers (if you want them at all, which you won't) have to be glued to the machine by the buyer. This seems like a lot of patience to me, which of course can be appreciated because at least this way you can decide not to apply stickers if you don't like the stickers.

We tried: OOTD T10 scooter - the new hope 20

I note that you won't be using stickers because stickers are useless crap.

The stickers are made of a paper backing, the sticker on top, and a transparent plastic backing film on top of it. You peel the sticker off the paper backing along with the backing film, then stick the whole thing on the frame, and then finally remove the backing film (which keeps the letters in place, for example). There are only two problems with this. On the one hand, sometimes the sticker doesn't come off the paper when you peel off the backing film. If the sticker does come off, you can't remove the backing film from the sticker after sticking it on without tearing the whole sticker off.

This decaling and the quality of the decals are crap as it is. I would slap the person who came up with this. Well, that's why you don't see the scooter with the decals in the article in the photos!

Let's move on! You've screwed on the handlebars, the handlebars, the rear fender and the kickstand. You haven't put on the sticker, you're done with the assembly. At least you think so, because you still have to check whether the rubber cover on the forks is in place or not. The fact is that the forks that look really good in the factory pictures don't look nearly as striking, the striking features are given by a rubber cover.

We tried: OOTD T10 scooter - the new hope 21

Well, this rubber cover is the next element that I would condemn the designer for many years. The thing is, the rubber is held in place by a thin rim, which is not very secure. The manufacturer must have noticed this, which is why they put thick, spongy double-sided adhesive tape on the forks, which is supposed to hold the rubber cover in place. I don't think anyone will be surprised that this crappy little adhesive has no idea how to hold the rubber cover there.

When I say that fork covers are a safety hazard, I'm putting it very gently. If they come off while you're riding and get caught between the wheel and the fender, you're going to have a really big fall.

Well, now for a little praise! The tread is not too big, but it is a comfortable size. The brakes gripped the machine well for me, and I also get a red point for the fact that the manufacturer also packed spare brake pads with the scooter. The suspension is sporty and stiff for my weight of over 90 kilos, meaning it doesn't bounce, but it doesn't sit unnecessarily on every bump. Let's just say that it is also a big advantage that we get 11-inch wheels, so even medium road imperfections can be overcome and jumping off higher yards is no problem.

We tried: OOTD T10 scooter - the new hope 22

The OOTD T10 scooter's lighting system is surprisingly good (in some places). The dual LED headlight (two lights in one housing) has two modes (white and yellow) that can be handy in different lighting conditions, and the brightness was enough for safe driving. There are taillights, but why? They put red lights on the back of the box on two sides, which are completely covered by the wheel, fender, and swingarms. The brake light is a joke. On the inside of the taillight, which is not visible anyway, a few LEDs blink with red light. At first I thought there was no brake light, it was so dim. A crappy solution.

We tried: OOTD T10 scooter - the new hope 23

Besides the front light, the rear indicator is also worth something. We finally got the side indicators that you see on larger machines, extending to both sides, which, if not exactly good, give a noticeable light when it gets dark. They don't have running lights, unfortunately. An arrow on the dashboard indicates when the indicator is on, pay attention to this, because neither a click nor a beep indicates that you are using the indicator, so if you don't pay attention, it may remain on.

If you start the machine, you will be surprised by its agility. You don't get the vivacity typical of a 500-watt machine. I dare say that this scooter is not much weaker (if at all) than their first scooter from last year, which they sold as a 1200-watt one. Let's just say, I said back then that that machine was never a 1200-watt one, and I'll say it again now.

We tried: OOTD T10 scooter - the new hope 24

This includes the fact that I managed to climb the hill used for the test by doing tricks (i.e. driving in an S shape) with the scooter, while I couldn't with last year's 1200 watt one. So not only was the wattage not right there, but the torque was also poor. Well, compared to that, the OOTD T10 scooter was a huge surprise for me, and of course a positive one!

I read in a foreign test that it can climb 25-30 degree slopes, don't believe that!

The top speed is also good. There is a factory lock, but you can simply turn it off, then speeds over 40 kilometers per hour are also possible, especially if there is a small slope. But I think 35-40 is possible on a flat road. However, here we have to stop for a moment again to insert something bad!

The bad thing is that the front axle of this scooter was also damaged. Here's a picture, a bit of an improvised one, but it's necessary for understanding!

We tried: OOTD T10 scooter - the new hope 25

Unfortunately, the situation with this OOTD T10 scooter is that the wheel has zero trail. In other words, the OOTD T10 scooter pushes the wheel in front of itself, which made the tendency to skid quite strong. At speeds above 40, the stuff is already very muddy, although I have been on a few scooters. Unfortunately, the running geometry here was not properly developed either, here too the wheel should be about 5 centimeters further back to meet my minimum expectations. This does not cause any problems at low speeds (speed lock not turned off), but at higher speeds I did not feel the scooter was safe at all.

No matter how good it looks, no matter how powerful the engine is, no matter how pleasantly lively the machine is, despite its many good features, it won't be worth racing with it. Or, if you want to race, hold the steering wheel tightly and dress properly!

I have to add that one of the biggest flaws of last year's OOTD was the handlebar design. It was low, it was stiff, and its height could not be adjusted. In the case of the OOTD T10 scooter, two of the three flaws were fixed, and this was very good for the handling. The width has become larger, not crazy wide, but it can be used as it is. The height has become better, at least for my 184 cm, it is perfect, but I think there are still a few centimeters in it, so it can be used up to 190 cm. Unfortunately, the handlebar height is still not adjustable, but since it has become taller in the first place, this is not a serious mistake in this case.

We tried: OOTD T10 scooter - the new hope 26

Finally, the range. As in all tests, I have to say that the factory data is a joke, not reality. This is not an OOTD problem, but a problem for all electric vehicles, be it a scooter, bicycle or car. Be careful with the range data, because the scooters are measured on a bench with a 65-kilo load, no stopping, no starting, no uphill or downhill, no headwind or tailwind, etc. etc. etc. The stated 624 Wh capacity is not much. The only luck is that this battery pack was not put in a 1000-1200 watt scooter, but in a 500 watt one. And to top it off, it works as it should.

We tried: OOTD T10 scooter - the new hope 27

The factory gives 35-45 kilometers, I would say more like 25-30 kilometers based on the dive during the test, depending on how much you pull the ear. If there are a lot of hills, you have unlocked the speed lock and you go as far as the tube can go, then 20 is still possible, maybe. If you drive normally, not in minus 20 degrees, you can count on 30 kilometers. Of course, only if you are not 120 kilos.

OOTD T10 scooter – Final review

Well, let's summarize!

If you had the patience to read everything, then I think you might have noticed that I am not completely satisfied. It is a huge improvement compared to my test subject last year, I appreciate the good suspension, the good ground clearance. I really appreciate the 11-inch wheels, the normal width handlebars, the lively behavior, and it would be a shame to deny that this scooter is not bad to use at all!

We tried: OOTD T10 scooter - the new hope 29

I really don't appreciate the stickers and the fact that they forced me (the buyer) to apply them. Even if the sticker was of normal quality… I really don't appreciate the rubber covers on the swingarms, which should be held in place by a crappy (sorry, I'm trying to vent my anger somehow) adhesive strip. Okay, it looks good, but it's so damn dangerous. I don't understand how no one noticed that this wasn't right. Let's just say it's not a big deal to put a quick-release fastener on both sides of the swingarms, and the problem is fixed. But still…

We tried: OOTD T10 scooter - the new hope 30

I'm not at all happy with the weight of the scooter either. Maybe they envied the industrial look of the KuKirin scooters or I don't know what happened, why the hell did they have to weld the whole thing out of thick iron plates, but 31 kilos is a lot. 31 kilos is a lot for a 500 watt scooter. Let's just say it looks good, and if I didn't know that 500 watts would be much more powerful. So, if you don't want to be ashamed of the look of your scooter, you wouldn't feel comfortable on a stick scooter, then from that perspective it's a good thing that it's not 25 but 31 kilos.

The scooter is easy to use, I wouldn't dare go off-road with it, but I would like to emphasize again that it is VERY prone to slipping at high speeds. If you know about yourself that 1. You won't release the speed lock (max. 25 km/h) 2. If you release the speed lock, you won't go faster than 30, you can buy it. However, if you are the kind of person who wants to race at top speed, then don't buy it. At most, if you are an adrenaline addict, because if you are, then you will enjoy having the IFA stripe in your pants all the time.

We tried: OOTD T10 scooter - the new hope 31

In summary, the OOTD T10 scooter is a pretty good entry into the world of off-road electric scooters. In addition to its many positive features, there are a few stupid solutions that should be improved, but basically, (sorry, I'll write it again), if you don't want to race with it at top speed, you get a well-handled, very stylish, and pleasant machine for your money. If you meet the requirements, you can safely buy it, you won't be disappointed.

You can order the scooter from an EU warehouse, the price is OOTDT10EU coupon code 176 504 forint will be, which seems like a very friendly price for this machine!
