We tried: EEMOV ESM-Micro - movies run smoothly

So here we are on the page where we need to present the device itself and report on what we have experienced while using it. Let's start!

ESM-Micro is EEMOV's simplest camera stabilization solution. A hand-held structure consisting of a handle, a ball joint, a frame and counterweights. It is foldable and, due to its rather small weight of only 1,45 kilograms (including weights), we can easily pack it in a bag or suitcase taken on holiday. Made of aluminum or steel. The machining is terribly precise, we obviously don't use a Chinese vack here. As we wrote on the previous page, the products are of the same quality as if they were made by the manufacturers themselves.

The pictures show that the frame can be adjusted in several places, the exact adjustment is aided by notches. This precise setting is needed to keep the camera in the desired position at all times, regardless of whether your wrist is standing. Of course, a real “floating” feeling requires not only this kind of stability, but also the absorption of vibrations.

2

With such a manual solution, no more arms and springs can be used. Vibration must be eliminated by a rubberized handle with precision bearings and ball joints. All that needs to be said about the ball joint is that it is a structure, although for the sake of clarity we use the term ball joint rather than a cardan cross of a car, and it is the soul of the whole structure, with precise bearings, of course.

Therefore, the EEMOV ESM Micro must be set up before use, while paying attention to several things. The camera cannot be tilted to the right or left, forward or backward. The camera must be given adequate attenuation with counterweights. The attenuation was adjusted according to the instructions given in the preliminary presentation. This is good if, holding the handle vertically and releasing the camera completely tilted back, it will slowly return to the horizontal position with the frame, it will not kick back.

5

Lateral tilting can be accomplished by releasing the lock in the center of the frame by rotating the bottom slightly. The forward or backward tilt can be adjusted by pushing the lower counterweights forward or backward, while the precise adjustment of the weight of these counterweights ensures proper damping. The basic package includes two large (330 grams) and six small (30 grams) counterweights.

If the settings are good, rotate the grip wherever the camera stays. It is important to insert here that if you have a light Moroccan camera, you should also get the quick release foot sold by the company. This has several roles. On the one hand, we can easily slide the camera back and forth, thus controlling the tilt. On the other hand, and this is more important because it is located under the camera, the weight of the sole is added to the weight of the camera, so the offset can be set much more precisely.

9

Perhaps the most important experience during our test was the latter fact. Even though the frame was made of aluminum, the weight of the lightweight HD camera under half a pound was not enough to capture the right quality (the right quality for the article). We ran around the street a lot with the camera and took orders that were orders of magnitude more beautiful than the one we held, but we couldn’t create one that was uploaded to the demonstration on the company’s side. For this reason, we will insert this demo recording into the article on the next page.
