The ANGWATT brand was launched in 2023 when Banggood, one of the largest Chinese online stores, entered the electric scooter market with its own branded product. The distributor, Banggood, says that demand for ANGWATT products is constantly growing, which is not surprising given the quality and value for money offered.
I don't need a crystal ball to predict that F1 will increase interest even more!
Electric scooters have evolved significantly in recent years. After the initial, lower-performance models, vehicles with serious technical content are now available. The ANGWATT F1 electric scooter It is positioned in the mid-range with its 1000 W peak power motor, solid frame and modern suspension.
The popularity of electric scooters among urban mobility devices is no coincidence. Their small footprint makes them easy to store and transport, while their use does not require any particular physical effort. ANGWATT F1 electric scooter Its foldable design allows it to be transported in the trunk of a car, allowing you to combine different modes of transportation.
The combination of the advanced braking system, quality suspension and tubeless tires makes the ANGWATT F1 scooter a safe and reliable means of transportation in the urban environment. In the following chapters, I will present in detail the technical parameters of the scooter, its use and my experiences gained during the test.
The ANGWATT F1 – impressive exterior
Az ANGWATT F1 electric scooter At first glance, it attracts attention with its robust appearance. At first glance, you would probably guess that it is more than 1000 watts, as the frame made of iron and aluminum alloy is of a particularly heavy construction and the rubberized tread is wider than average.
In terms of dimensions, the ANGWATT F1 electric scooter When opened, it has a space requirement of 119 x 70 x 117-135 cm, while when folded it has a space requirement of 117 x 70 x 55 cm. The scooter's weight of 27 kg does not make it easy to carry, but this is inherent in the powerful motor and the large-capacity battery. For me, the 27 kilos were still comfortable to put in and take out of the trunk, but for some people this will be a mission impossible category.
The stable frame has a maximum load capacity of 120 kg, making it suitable for a wide range of users. The tread is 23 cm wide and 53 cm long, with non-slip rubber covering, which provides extra grip in all weather conditions. The platform is 28 cm above the ground and the ground clearance of 20 cm allows you to easily overcome road defects and small obstacles, such as curbs.
Az ANGWATT F1 electric scooter The handlebars are ergonomically designed, with a pleasant bend, which makes the grips perfectly in hand, and the wrists are in a comfortable position. It is great that the manufacturer did not skimp on the width of the handlebars either, compared to its category peers, there is definitely an extra 4-6 centimeters in width. This results in a better grip and more stable control.
The three-stage height-adjustable handlebar stem allows users of different heights to use it comfortably. The manufacturer has installed a special insert to stabilize the connection between the handlebar tube and the handlebar stem, eliminating the problem experienced with previous models, i.e. the bar does not wobble or rotate.
The controls are intuitively arranged and easy to reach. On the left side are the turn signal switch, horn and headlight controls, while on the right is the throttle. The central LCD display has a higher brightness compared to previous models, so it is easy to read even in sunlight (at least according to the factory description). On the display we can track speed, battery charge, distance traveled and other important information, and we can also access the various settings menus here.
Az ANGWATT F1 electric scooter One of its outstanding innovations is the NFC card start system. The scooter comes with two NFC cards that can be used to easily start and stop the vehicle, increasing theft protection. This solution replaces the traditional key start, so you don't have to worry about losing keys.
A ANGWATT F1 electric scooter The lighting system is comprehensive: a powerful front headlight, side lights (very cool), rear brake light and turn signals ensure good visibility. The turn signals flash red and, although their placement is not optimal, they still serve a useful safety function. The headlight is bright enough for night riding, illuminating the road ahead of the scooter well.
The suspension system is of outstanding quality: the ANGWATT F1 electric scooter The hydraulic double-telescopic design of its front fork provides motorcycle-grade suspension, significantly surpassing the C-shaped solutions commonly used in other representatives of the category. The rear suspension is provided by a conventional coil spring suspension. This combination allows for an exceptionally smooth and comfortable ride, even on uneven road surfaces.
ANGWATT F1 electric scooter – the devil is in the details
Az ANGWATT F1 electric scooter The technical specifications clearly reflect that we are talking about a powerful mid-range electric scooter. The heart or rather the muscle of the vehicle is a 1000 watt peak power brushless Hall motor, which provides outstanding acceleration and top speed. This motor allows for speeds of up to 40-50 km/h (factory data) and can also cope with 25 degree inclines (again factory data), which means sufficient power in all situations in an urban environment.
Power is provided by a 48-volt, 18,2 amp-hour, A-grade lithium battery. The 873,6 watt-hour energy storage capacity allows for a range of 50-70 kilometers on a single charge (still factory data), which is more than enough to meet the daily transportation needs of most urban users. A full charge takes about 8 hours, which is best done at night. The battery pack is made of 18650 cells, which are known for their durability and reliability.
The power is controlled by an advanced 29 amp sinusoidal FOC (Field Oriented Control) controller, which ensures a smooth power delivery to the rear wheel motor. This controller is a new development from the manufacturer, which not only allows for optimal use of the motor's power, but also significantly improves driving performance even under load and on hills.
Az ANGWATT F1 electric scooter It has 10-inch, tubeless tires. The 10 × 3,0-inch (80/60-6) EAKIA brand tires have reduced rolling resistance, which has a positive effect on the range. The tubeless design reduces the chance of punctures and provides better comfort, as tubeless tires can be used at lower pressures. These tires perform well in various road conditions, whether it is urban asphalt or mild off-road use.
Three independent systems ensure safe stopping: two mechanical disc brakes with 140 mm brake discs, and an electronic brake (E-ABS), which effectively means engine braking and regenerative assistance when braking. The strength of the electronic brake can be adjusted between 07-1 in the P5 menu item, the default value is 4, which results in noticeable deceleration even when the accelerator is released. This triple brake system enables effective and safe stopping in all conditions.
Az ANGWATT F1 electric scooter Although it does not have an official IP rating for water resistance, the manufacturer claims that it has some degree of waterproofing. It can be used in short periods of light rain, but its water resistance is not guaranteed in prolonged rain or when immersed in water. It is important to note that prolonged moisture can damage the battery and electronics, so it is worth choosing another means of transportation on rainy days.
The scooter's control system offers a wide range of settings. The central display with integrated NFC sensor displays comprehensive data and allows you to customize various parameters. The display is clearly visible and has increased brightness compared to previous models, making it easy to read even in bright sunlight. The data display and settings options make the ANGWATT F1 NEW one of the best in its class.
The lighting system is also noteworthy: a headlight, side marker light, brake light and turn signals ensure good visibility at all times of the day. The lighting elements use LED technology, which ensures low energy consumption and a long service life. The yellow LED strip running along the side makes the scooter particularly visible in the dark, which significantly increases traffic safety.
ANGWATT F1 electric scooter – On the way, on the way, or so the test turned out!
I charged the battery to the brim, according to the display the voltage was above 54 volts, the test could start!
I'll be honest, I was biased with the Angwatt F1 even before unpacking it, the reason for which is to be found in the first shock absorber. In other words, in the fact that I finally got a scooter that wasn't a C-frame. I don't like the C-frame. Not because it couldn't be made good, but because manufacturers usually screw it up.
It should be noted that the C-chassis is a cheaper solution than the traditional technology with double-sided shock absorbers. This would not be a problem if manufacturers were to mess up the chassis geometry, which results in the chassis, which normally has slight caster, losing caster due to load or simply due to road defects, acceleration, etc. As a result, the dreaded steering shake, falling, chassis breakage, and similar subtleties occur.
I wrote in more detail about the C landing gear problem in this article: We tested: ANGWATT CS1 e-scooter – Better than KuKirin?
In the case of a conventional chassis, the chance of this phenomenon occurring will be very minimal, which again can only be found in a chassis geometry that is radically different from the C chassis.
So the bottom line: The Angwatt F1 has traditional front suspension and suspension, so it had an advantage over me from the start!
There are 1-2 things I don't like, I'm writing about them now because I don't want them to spoil the taste in your mouth at the end of the article, because the ANGWATT F1 electric scooter It doesn't deserve to leave this article with a bad taste in your mouth!
- Rear fender: It's like it wasn't made for this scooter. The difference in quality is so stark that it's unbelievable that such an ugly injection-molded thing would be added to such a well-built scooter. Good news, it does its job, it does its job well, it just looks a little plain.
- Turn signals: They beep incredibly annoyingly while indexing. That wouldn't be a problem, but it's more like we've got another completely pointless, useless turn signal hidden in a place where no one is guaranteed to notice it's blinking.
- Display: Without any exaggeration, the Angwatt F1's display is no better than any other scooter display I've ever owned. It's unusable in sunlight, just like every other similar scooter display I've owned. When will there be a scooter with a display that can be seen in sunlight?
- 10-inch wheel: I'll leave this for last, because it's basically not a big mistake, maybe it's just my stupidity that I would have put 11-inch wheels on this scooter.
Now the good things can come!
The front lighting is amazing! The front projector light is absolutely good in the dark. It's not a spotlight, but it's enough, especially if there's some kind of Tiborcz-type LED street light next to it. The taillight and brake light are clearly visible in the dark, but not at all during the day. That's pretty bad. However, the orange LED row on the side is really good again. Even in dim light, the extra light is an advantage, and in the dark the thing looks like Santa's sleigh, it lights up like hell, there's no way a driver wouldn't notice it.
The chassis is excellent. There was an inspection before departure, but exceptionally I did not find any loose or overtightened screws. The chassis and swingarms of the Angwatt F1 that arrived to me moved nicely and freely, nothing was stuck, but it did not wobble either. Maybe I was just lucky, don't skip checking the screws during commissioning!
The shock absorption is great. In other words, we don't just have a simple spring strut, the stuff really dampens it, the scooter doesn't want to bounce like a runaway polka dot ball. This is also true if, for example, you jump off a sidewalk, it doesn't want to bounce out from under you, the wheels touch the ground and you keep rolling as if nothing had happened.
The brakes are unfortunately mechanical disc brakes, but I basically had no problems with them during the test. They held the scooter and my nearly 100 kilos no matter how fast the pace was. The combination of the double mechanical disc brake and the electronic brake provides effective and well-dosed deceleration. The strength of the electronic brake can be adjusted in the menu, I used it at the factory setting of 4 throughout, which results in noticeable deceleration even when I take my foot off the gas.
The factory claims a range of 50-70 kilometers. Raise your hand if you're surprised when I say it's not that much. Interestingly, I don't see any hands... So the range I can get from a full charge was a little over 35 kilometers. I'll note that during the test there was some pulling, climbing and all that crap, so it's possible that you won't end up with 35, but 40. Or, if you're really frugal and only weigh 65 kilos (not lying down), then maybe 45.
As for handling, it is ANGWATT F1 electric scooter The handlebars are actually wider than I'm used to in this category. I almost felt like a big boy riding it. You know, like I was riding a bigger, stronger, faster machine. And speaking of speed, there are a few things I need to talk about,
because I think Angwatt is tricking us. So maybe Angwatt is lying!
The first is the speed. The deception here is that according to the factory data, the top speed is under 50 kilometers/hour, compared to which the highest speed I saw according to the speedometer was 62 Km/hour. Well, I took out my phone, checked with GPS. The top speed is 49 km/hour according to GPS. So the factory data is still correct, but the speedometer deceives the user. This should be the biggest problem!
What is a real scam, however, is the performance! And before you fall on your sword, I'll tell you that I don't think this scooter is 1000 watts, as the factory claims, but it's more powerful than that! Why do I say this?
Well, there is a steep hill in our area (I show it in the video test of the scooter!), where I drive every scooter that comes for a test. The last scooter that I struggled with but was able to climb was last year's KuKirin G3 with its 1200 watt peak power. Every other machine with similar power bled to death. Let's say the KuKirin G2 with its 800 watt peak power unsurprisingly gave up the fight, but the Angwatt CS1000 with its 1 watt peak torque bowed down to the challenge of the hill, and surprisingly enough, the OOTD S1200 with its 10 watt peak torque too!
What happened to ANGWATT F1 electric scooter In short, it powered up the hill without any problems. All this while the manufacturer claims that the peak power, not even the continuous power output, is only 1000 watts!
I simply don't understand. Is this due to the new controller? Or is the motor new too? The peak power of this motor (according to my many years of experience) seems to be 1200-1400 watts rather than 1000 watts. This is supported by the top speed, or rather the dynamism. I'm not saying that you can't get such a high speed from 1000 watts, but I've never been on a 1000 watt scooter that reached its top speed in such a short time. Awesome!
Let this be the final word!
ANGWATT F1 electric scooter – summary, conclusion
Of course, as with all products, the ANGWATT F1 electric scooterThere are also areas for improvement. The location and red color of the turn signals are not ideal – they would be better visible if they were a different color and placed in a more noticeable place, and the rear fender is more like a sand shovel than a scooter this well-built.
The scooter weighs 27 kg, so carrying it around can be difficult, although this is a necessary consequence of the powerful motor and large-capacity battery.
