External or all for the eyes?

We tested: SAMEBIKE LOTDM200-II - Urban revolutionary on two wheels 31

At first glance, SAMEBIKE LOTDM200-II is a rather robust, typical Chinese FAT wheel bike. It's interesting, but when you look at it, its robustness is not impressive, somehow it gives the impression of being quite compact. The frame of the bicycle is of course made of aluminum alloy, which ensures the necessary strength, but at the same time results in a relatively light total net weight of 28 kilos. The design of the frame allows for quick folding, which is a practical solution in terms of storage and transport.

We tested: SAMEBIKE LOTDM200-II - Urban revolutionary on two wheels 32

The dimensions of the bicycle when opened are 175 x 63 x 126 cm, which is average among similar electric bicycles. The 20-inch wheels are equipped with 4-inch wide tires that provide excellent grip and stability on various road surfaces. Wide tires can be especially useful in urban environments, where uneven road surfaces or tram tracks are often expected.

The width of the handlebar is 640 mm, which is also a completely average size. The height of the steering wheel is of course adjustable, even between 1160 mm and 1260 mm. This allows you to adjust the handlebar position to your height. The height of the saddle is also adjustable, from 860 mm to 1050 mm, so the bike can be comfortable for users of different body heights.

The controls are ergonomically arranged. On the left, there is the integrated controller with many buttons, from here we can turn on the lighting, change the level of assistance, sound an alarm, and access the bike's service menu from here. In the middle of the steering wheel is the large, colorful LED display, which also has an NFC function. This allows the bike to be locked and unlocked with a smartphone or NFC card, which is quite a practical solution. Of course, you can also use the power button to turn it on, but if you do that, you will be forced to enter a four-digit code every time to wake up the bike.

On the right-hand grip is the thumb-operated throttle, which enables pure electric drive, next to it is the Shimano 7-speed shifter control. The brake levers are easily accessible on both sides and typically operate mechanical disc brakes.

We tested: SAMEBIKE LOTDM200-II - Urban revolutionary on two wheels 34

The battery is integrated into the frame, but, as usual, it can be removed, which makes charging easier and increases safety. The charging connector is located on the battery and has a protective cover against dust and moisture. In addition, the bike has a USB (Type-C) charging port, which allows you to charge mobile devices on the go.

We tested: SAMEBIKE LOTDM200-II - Urban revolutionary on two wheels 35

At the front of the bike, and the great news is that it also has integrated LED lighting at the back (combined with a brake light at the back), which is connected to the electrical system, i.e. it works from the battery. This increases visibility and safety when driving at night. There is no turn signal, but I don't think this is a problem, it gives a false sense of security if there is, because it is usually invisible to motorists, but if you use the turn signal manually, you will not signal your intention to turn. So it's not a problem at all that there is no index. I think so.

What there is, however, and this is also a great joy, is a rear luggage rack, which seems very strong, so it is suitable for attaching bags or baskets.

Regarding the exterior, it is also important to mention that we also get front and rear mudguards of the right size, although they are made of plastic, but they don't look fragile (another red dot). It is also important to mention that the center of gravity of the frame has a great handle, which we can use to lift the bike up. This makes it very easy to put it in the trunk of a car, for example.

We tested: SAMEBIKE LOTDM200-II - Urban revolutionary on two wheels 36

Overall, the exterior is very convincing. The frame geometry is the usual, but it is so different from the mass of Chinese FAT bikes that it is noticeable from afar, it is indeed a SAMEBIKE LOTDM200-II. I like the paint job, the decals are also frank, and the velcro fastening of the cable whip at the steering wheel is very good. It looks much better than the usual spiral cable tie that manufacturers used to organize cables.

Specification, or I know it's electric, but what makes it run?

We tested: SAMEBIKE LOTDM200-II - Urban revolutionary on two wheels 38

The heart of the SAMEBIKE LOTDM200-II is a 750W carbon brushless DC hub motor, which is naturally located in the rear wheel. The motor can deliver a maximum torque of over 35 Nm. This performance allows the bike to climb up to a 14-degree incline with ease. The engine can be operated at five different assistance levels, so the user can always choose the appropriate assistance for the road conditions and their own needs.

We tested: SAMEBIKE LOTDM200-II - Urban revolutionary on two wheels 39

I would like to point out that the manufacturer did not give values that were completely off the ground for the torque and the amount of climbing that can be done, and I value such honesty more than anything else!

A 48 volt, 13 Ah capacity lithium-ion battery, made up of 18650 cells, is responsible for the energy supply. This battery provides a range of around 40km in pure electric mode (as per spec), while this can be extended to 80km in pedal assist mode (again only as per spec). It takes 4-6 hours to fully charge the battery.

We tested: SAMEBIKE LOTDM200-II - Urban revolutionary on two wheels 40

The maximum speed of the bicycle is factory-limited to 25 km/h, which complies with European regulations. At the same time, at the request of users, it is possible (I will write about how in the next chapter) to remove this speed limit, after which the bike can reach a speed of up to 40 km/h. It is important to note that this modification does not affect the legal status of the bicycle, because it is still classified as a moped due to the throttle on the handlebars.

However, if you remove the throttle and do not change the upper limit of the speed that can be reached with assistance, you are still not ahead, because due to the power of the engine, the SAMEBIKE LOTDM200-II will still be a moped. So I suggest that unless you are afraid of speed, feel free to remove the speed limit, that alone does not change whether it is considered a bicycle or a moped. It will definitely be the latter.

We tested: SAMEBIKE LOTDM200-II - Urban revolutionary on two wheels 41

Shifting is ensured by a Shimano 7-speed system, which enables efficient pedaling in various terrain conditions. Of course, it is a Shimano Tourney system, which I can only say is suitable because it does not have to deliver the engine's torque to the rear wheel, so it is not exposed to a large load. It can go for a thousand years if you don't smash the bike too much. The braking system consists of mechanical disc brakes that ensure reliable deceleration and stopping even in wet conditions. Even if they are mechanical.

The load capacity of the bike is impressive, it can handle a load of up to 150 kg, which makes it possible to transport larger packages or even a child seat. Paying attention to the latter, in principle the rear luggage rack should be able to handle it, but the fixing is your responsibility. So let's just say you can put the child seat on it if you want, but it's an option, and the choice is yours.

We tested: SAMEBIKE LOTDM200-II - Urban revolutionary on two wheels 42

As I mentioned in the previous chapter, the thick tires do a good job even with bad road quality, but in the case of the SAMEBIKE LOTDM200-II, according to the factory data, the double suspension also takes part in this work, they also ensure a comfortable ride even on uneven terrain. It is worth adding to the matter that although the front shock absorber works well, the rear one not so much. The reason for this is that the vibration damping built into the bottom of the seat at the back can only be called shock absorption, because there is nothing else. I would like to note that the vibration protection under my bottom is impeccable, I was rather bothered by the shape of the seat.

We tested: SAMEBIKE LOTDM200-II - Urban revolutionary on two wheels 43

The NFC-enabled color LCD display not only displays the basic information (speed, battery charge, distance traveled), but also gives you the opportunity to control the bike's smart functions. There was a site on the net where it was written that the display cooperates with the SAMEBIKE mobile application, which offers users additional functions. It would be nice, but I couldn't discover such a function, so I don't think it's Bluetooth or an application. I don't particularly miss this extra. If you find such an application option, please let me know so that I can improve the article!

We tested: SAMEBIKE LOTDM200-II - Urban revolutionary on two wheels 44

Security features include locking and unlocking the bike remotely using NFC technology. Remotely in this case means essentially contactless. That is, until the NFC signal arrives. After all, this is also a kind of distance, isn't it?

Experiences, or what will the replacement bug be made of?

When unpacking and assembling, it became apparent that this SAMEBIKE LOTDM200-II is different from the usual FAT rubber Chinese bicycles. The quality seemed better somehow. The quality of the assembly, and somehow everything. So the first impression was really good.

We tested: SAMEBIKE LOTDM200-II - Urban revolutionary on two wheels 46

The exterior is also somehow different. Of course, basically, like all similar machines, the frame geometry is bad, but this would only be a negative if you had to use it with your feet, without assistance. The situation is that our legs and knees are in the wrong position, so if we have to exert a lot of force for a long time, it would not be good for the joints. But luckily, just like all other similar bikes, the SAMEBIKE LOTDM200-II doesn't have to either, because there is a motor in the rear wheel!

And what kind of engine? Well, please, treat the 750 watt power and the torque over 35 Nm as a fact here. Sure, even my weight of just under 100 kilos can be accelerated to over 40 kilometers per hour by the bike, and it does it all with surprising dynamism.

We tested: SAMEBIKE LOTDM200-II - Urban revolutionary on two wheels 47

It was completely clear that before the first use I entered the service menu and removed the 25 km/h speed lock. As I wrote above, it makes no sense. It is best to leave it inside if you don't want to go faster than 25 anyway (this will of course also have a good effect on the possible distance), or if it will be used by younger people and you don't want the child to have an accident. So the point is, there are cases when it is worth leaving it on, but the number of these cases is quite limited.

Press and hold the + and – buttons on the control buttons to enter the service menu. Press the power button and go to menu item 8. You can set the end of the assistance with the + and – buttons, by default it is 25, if you push it to 50, it will be fine, you won't go any faster anyway. You can see the operation in the video at the beginning of the article!

The SAMEBIKE LOTDM200-II was a very pleasant surprise for use anyway. Above, in the introduction, I cautiously hinted that this bike is good for both touring and the city, and that is indeed the case. It's not something crazy explosive, despite the pedal sensor, it doesn't want to kill you, so it was a very pleasant experience in the city. Granted, that wasn't surprising, I kind of expected that.

We tested: SAMEBIKE LOTDM200-II - Urban revolutionary on two wheels 48

What surprised me, however, was that it was much more pleasant than expected on a forest road. Not just because of the wide tires. The front shock absorber, which seems a little hard at first, works quite well. It's not too soft (maximum if we're walking on hard surfaces), not too hard, and most importantly, it doesn't bounce, it has proper damping. I wrote above that the front fork can be locked, so unfortunately the preload cannot be adjusted, but you can lock it on hard pavement, where no damping is needed, and release it in the woods.

And of course, do this in the forest and you will have a very pleasant trip!

As usual, I didn't have enough time to cycle the entire charge out of the machine, but this time was enough to ascertain that, even though the hill-climbing abilities and torque were correctly specified, the possible range is still not realistic. Only sack/approx. I can say that the distance that can be covered (of course depending on the weight of the passenger, terrain conditions and speed) is roughly half of the factory data, and I think this is still a fair and acceptable value.

We tested: SAMEBIKE LOTDM200-II - Urban revolutionary on two wheels 49

I already mentioned the NFC card thing above. I don't deny it, it's pretty cool when I turn on the bike with the card, if I use my phone for that it's even better. However, its usefulness, at least in terms of theft resistance, is questionable. What is not concreted (moored) will be taken away. Even if they can turn it on, even if they can't. In the case of a bicycle with wheels and pedals, this truth is many times more true. So I say, the first thing you should do is to buy a good lock with which you can tether, NFC remains a nice extra, but you don't want to trust the SAMEBIKE LOTDM200-II because it won't end well. At least for you.

Summary, or every article will end once

What can I write in summary? In short, the SAMEBIKE LOTDM200-II is a very well done bike. It doesn't dazzle with any of its capabilities, but the 750-watt motor can fly if needed, the lights are good, the suspension is really good, and the exterior is also well done.

We tested: SAMEBIKE LOTDM200-II - Urban revolutionary on two wheels 51

Really, I really like that it's not the usual shape, if only because it's easier to sit on because of the lowered frame tube that also contains the battery. In the case of the frame, there are only so many differences from the usual that it does not lose practicality (in fact, adds to it), but still stands out from the gray crowd.

And anyway, one really has a well-put-together feeling from the SAMEBIKE LOTDM200-II, which is otherwise difficult to justify with rational arguments. Maybe it's the easy-to-use fenders and the huge trunk, but as I wrote above, for some reason it's both robust and airy. I can't blame this on anything other than the design of the frame. Maybe the reason is that the tube hiding the battery is connected to the part under the seat at a different point (at the bottom) or because its angle is a little steeper? So I don't know what the reason is, but it doesn't really matter in terms of the end result.

We tested: SAMEBIKE LOTDM200-II - Urban revolutionary on two wheels 52

The point is that the SAMEBIKE LOTDM200-II looks good, runs well, is comfortable both in the forest and in the city, and there is also a huge trunk, which makes it good for shopping.

You can of course order the bike from the EU warehouse, use the SbLT200II coupon code with which the price 558 067 forint Instead of HUF 342, it will be HUF 395. Purchase by clicking on the link below:
