Kingston HyperX LoVo: If I want lightning fast, if I want frugal
What can we say about the Kingston HyperX LoVo product line? It is true that we "only" got to know the fastest kit of the series, a 2 × 2 GB 1866 MHz package, but the most important element of the story in this case is not the clock, but the spirit and direction in which LoVo memories were developed . There are a lot of very fast memory on the market, not only Kingston's HyperX, but also many other manufacturers offer modules with performance above 2000 or even 2500 MHz. LoVo does not try to give an advantage here (that remains for other HyperX), but in another area, namely economy, moderate energy consumption and cooler operation. This is what LoVo aims for, and it completely succeeds. Of course, there is no need to set excessive expectations regarding the consumption of a module, since it is useless to have HyperX LoVo kit in our machine, if we are otherwise using 3 GeForce GTX 480s.
What is certain, however, is that we can reduce the hunger of the entire system by a few percent by taking advantage of the fact that the LoVo modules are able to operate at extremely low operating voltages, with very high clock speeds. In addition, it is icing on the cake that the product is not ashamed even when it is tuning, it can only withstand not very low but high voltage values, which makes it really versatile, so there is practically no layer that cannot be recommended. It’s almost almost, since it’s obvious that the price of buying such high-quality, knowledgeable RAMs won’t fall into the price level of entry-level packages, it probably won’t be included in a PC where price alone is the primary consideration. If, on the other hand, the frame for mechanical engineering is a bit larger, it is not only recommended for gaming PCs and tuners, as in a configuration where the lowest possible consumption is the consideration, it is also a good choice due to its special, economical features.
Since it is a new product family, and the current exchange rates are not very favorable for the domestic IT market anyway, the current purchase price of the Kingston HyperX LoVo cannot be said to be low in any way, but in fact it is also not more expensive than other manufacturers' solutions with similar capabilities. Regardless, we hope that after the introduction this amount will decrease a little, especially if a slight strengthening of the forint will help. We debated whether to give the LoVo a "liked" or "editor's recommend" rating because of its price, but in the end, we thought the innovation from the Kingston guys and the versatility of the LoVo deserved a recommendation, not to mention about reliability. We would like to note here that the HyperX LoVo modules naturally come with a lifetime warranty, which the manufacturer covers with a 24-hour technical support service.
