Kingston HyperX LoVo: If I want lightning fast, if I want frugal

Kingston as a manufacturer is probably already known to the vast majority, but since we have unfortunately not really tested any products from them so far (we hope this will change in the future), we would like to introduce a few introductory sentences about the company:

or

Kingston Technology Company, Inc. is the world's largest independent memory company. Kingston designs, manufactures and markets memory and flash products for desktops, laptops, servers, printers, PDAs, cell phones, digital cameras, and MP3 players. Through an international network operated by its subsidiaries and affiliates, Kingston is also equipped to manufacture its products in countries such as California, Taiwan and China, as well as its sales representatives in the United States, Europe, Russia, Turkey, Ukraine, Australia, New Zealand. Zealand, India, Taiwan, China and Latin America memory markets. For more information, see www.kingston.com/europe and the http://twitter.com/kingstontech websites.

We are in a similar situation with HyperX memories, which not only boiled down to performance and reliability within Kingston’s range, but are a very successful and popular product line across the market. Of course, not all products can be equally perfect even among HyperX models, the features of each version are different and designed differently.

or or

A very interesting and really new family within the HyperX line is the Hyper LoVo, i.e. Low Voltage. Few things could be more telling than the name, we already know that these are modules that use a lower operating voltage than usual. Of course, we are talking about DDR3, in our case a 2 × 2 GB KHX1866C9D3LK2 / 4GX * serial number package, which is another interesting feature that it is only available in a limited number of pieces, as well as the fastest version of the LoVo palette.

Members of the LoVo series:

  • KHX1333C9D3UK2 / 4GX: 4GB 1333MHz Kit of 2 for XMP ultra low voltage 9-9-9-27 1,25 V
  • KHX1600C9D3LK2/4GX:
    • 4GB 1600MHz Kit of 2 for XMP - Profile 1 - low voltage 9-9-9-27 1,35 V
    • 4GB 1333MHz Kit of 2 for XMP - Profile 2 - ultra low voltage 9-9-9-27 1,25 V
  • KHX1800C9D3LK2/4GX:
    • 4GB 1600MHz Kit of 2 for XMP - Profile 1 - low voltage 9-9-9-27 1,35 V
      4GB 1800MHz Kit of 2 for XMP - Profile 2 - low voltage 9-9-9-27 1,35 V
  • KHX1866C9D3LK2/4GX:
    • 4GB 1866MHz Kit of 2 for XMP - Profile 1 - low voltage 9-9-9-27 1,35 V
    • 4GB 1600MHz Kit of 2 for XMP - Profile 2 - ultra low voltage 9-9-9-27 1,25 V

A common feature of all packages is that the modules have the same green heat sinks, which are otherwise very similar to the coolers working on traditional HyperX (non-T1) modules, only the color is different, green is meant to indicate ECO, ie environmentally conscious spirit and energy efficiency. What they also have in common is that each release supports two types of XMP profiles (operational profiles) that meet Intel's criteria, the parameters of which can be seen in the list above.

or or

The package we received therefore operates at 1866 MHz at the higher voltage, which is 1,35 V, which is still much lower than the standard 1,5 V specified by JEDEC for a 1333 MHz clock and CL9. paired for timing. LoVo therefore offers much higher performance with a faster XMP profile, with more favorable consumption and heat production figures. With the introduction of profile 2, your appetite is further reduced, as you only need 1,25 V, at which time the clock is 1600 MHz, its timing is unchanged, i.e. 9-9-9-27. The LoVo series therefore offers high speeds more economically than average, but that doesn’t mean tuners don’t have a choice to consider. Although the 1866 MHz frequency is already very respectable, according to information from Kingston, the LoVo not only excels at low voltages, but can also be used in much higher voltage ranges, which is of course required for tuning. According to some sources, it can withstand values up to around 1,8 V, but we do not recommend testing it at home due to lack of professional knowledge, not least because such high voltage can easily damage the memory controller hidden in Intel Core ix processors, as there the recommended maximum value is 1,65 V.

or

So why is the Kingston HyperX LoVo attractive? It provides high performance for all XMP profiles, with much better-than-average consumption and warm-up values, but if these were less important considerations in a given situation, it's good to know that you're not ashamed of tuning and can be offered with much higher voltage values. With LoVo, we acquire energy-saving and aggressive tuning memory at the same time.
