Dual-core Atom attack from July

The first Atoms have hardly appeared yet, the doubled sister models are already arriving.

Intel seems to be doing its best to make Atom processors a success. PC builder manufacturers seem to be already down - see MSI Wind and Asus EeePC - but according to the facts, reinforcement is needed to use even Atom who has so far favored another platform. A good marketing weapon for this is to start producing dual-core individuals almost immediately after single-core models.

If everything is true, mass production of the new processors will start in the second week of July, which is good news for us users on the one hand, and unpleasant for manufacturers based on "plain" Atom on the other hand. If we look at the time frame, it is practically impossible to run any kind of device equipped with a "single-core" Atom central unit, since customers will probably clamor for two cores as soon as an available quantity is available on the market.

Dual-core Atom attack from July

There may be some relief that dual-core individuals will be foot-compatible with their predecessors, with only a BIOS update required for trouble-free operation. There was no change in its parameters either, the two cores operate at 1,6 GHz and are connected to the chipset via a 533 MHz system bus. The second level cache is 2 × 512 KB, with a total power consumption of 16 W including the chipset.
