Xiaomi today unveiled its new high-end phones that now compete with the competition in price.
Although we couldn’t complain about the flagships so far, Xiaomi announced well in advance that the new mobiles are already targeting the premium category, so the goods will be higher than we’ve gotten used to from their top models so far. We’re not particularly happy about that, though it’s a fact that the new phones have done really well.
Preliminary news, leaked information mostly turned out to be true. It was clear that the CPU would be Qualcomm’s most powerful piece, the Snapdragon 865, as well as plenty of memory, up to 12GB, and oversized storage of up to 512GB. We did not receive any new information about the display, ie the resolution and size of the AMOLED panel with a curved edge, as well as the hole placed in the upper left corner of the display for the self-timer camera, also became a reality. The brightness and contrast ratio will of course be the best that is available. Regarding the display, it is important to mention that the Xiaomi now uses two light sensors, one in front and one in the back, and the phone adjusts the brightness of the screen in automatic mode based on the data received from here.
For those who follow the news, it will not be a novelty that the Mi 10 will be available on store shelves in two versions, the name of the more serious version will be given the suffix Pro. The only difference between the two phones is the battery capacity, the strength of the charging modes and the camera system. From the battery, the Mi 10 4780 mAh, while the 10 Pro received 4500 mAh capacity, the former comes with 30 watts, while the Pro model comes with 50 watts of wireless fast charging.
Perhaps the audience was most interested in the quality of the cameras, and as you might have guessed, Xiaomi put a world-leading phone on the table with the Mi 10 Pro. Both phones have 4-4 rear cameras, and interestingly, in their capabilities, at least on paper, together they know pretty much what the Xiaomi Mi Note 10 camera system alone. The main cameras of both devices use the already known 108 megabyte Samsung sensor, as in the case of the Note 10, so with the difference that the cheaper 7- and Pro version got an 8-member lens system. The Mi 10 also works with a 13-megapixel wide-angle and a 2-megapixel macro camera, and the fourth optics belong to the 2-megapixel depth sensor. So there is no telephoto solution here.
The Pro version, on the other hand, has a 108-megapixel (1 / 1,33-megapixel) camera (0,8 / 1,69 ″ with Samsung sensor, 8 μm pixel size, f / 12 aperture, OIS, 1P lens LED flash) 2,6-inch 2PD sensor) with 2x zoom and dedicated portrait mode, an 8-megapixel telephoto capability (10x hybrid zoom and 50x digital zoom), and finally a 20-megapixel wide-angle camera (117 ° ultra-wide-angle lens, 8k 30fps, 4k 60fps, 960f . As you can see, the macro camera is missing from here compared to the Mi Note 720, but few are likely to mind it. Importantly, the camera system of the phone received the highest score (10 points) in the DXoMark test.
So there are no big surprises, the Xiaomi Mi 10 and 10 Pro have truly become real high-end phones, as promised by the manufacturer. Xiaomi had already entered the battle of the cameras with the Mi Note 10 and Note 10 Pro, and perhaps surprisingly, but immediately aimed at the top step of the podium, moreover, successfully. The Xiaomi Mi 10 and 10 Pro, so in fact, just continue the tradition in the field of cameras, not by the way, showing significant strength in all other respects as well.
Among other capabilities, it is worth noting that we now get a wifi 6 interface for wireless networks, and that the phone has a real stereo system. Of course there is NFC too!
In terms of prices, as I have already written, Xiaomi has moved up at least one level. We don't know the prices in Europe yet, but I would be surprised if the Pro version with 12 GB of memory and 512 GB of storage could be obtained for less than 300 thousand forints, and even if I had to guess, it would be closer to 330-340 thousand forints. The price of the basic model equipped with a weaker camera will not stop at 200 thousand forints, and these prices represent a significant increase of up to 20-25 percent compared to the introductory prices of the Mi 9 last year.
