Introducing the iScooter i10Max electric scooter - Why should you try it?
In Hungary, the situation of electric scooters is still quite uncertain. We don't know exactly under what rules we will be able to skate. The decision just doesn't want to be made, and the scooterists use their device in a legal vacuum. It is certain that according to the authorities, the e-scooter is a means of transport, since you cannot drive while under the influence of alcohol and you must take out mandatory insurance.
In other words, not all of them require insurance, but under no circumstances should alcohol be your companion while rollerblading.
This year didn't help much in dispelling the fog either, and in fact, there are more and more uncertainty factors. This can be felt, somehow fewer and fewer people are interested in scooters. The reason is understandable, who knows what and under what conditions we will be able to drive.

The then at the end of the sentence is a strong word, because the question of when is also unanswered. Because these days they only float the expected rules (which are nowhere near final), but no one gives an exact date for when these rules will come into force. In 1 year or 5 years? It really doesn't matter!
In today's article, I will present a scooter that, according to the currently floating information, will probably fall into the lightweight category, but it does not yet belong to the usual 350-watt simple scooter category, even if at first the appearance suggests this. The specification is promising, the price is extra friendly, so we can ask the question, where is the scam here?

In this article, I will not only ask the question, I will also answer it!
Modern design and robust design - iScooter i10Max exterior and appearance

The iScooter I10 Max is an electric scooter with an interesting appearance, the dimensions of which when folded are 117 x 53 x 124 centimeters. Due to its weight of 21,2 kilograms, it is not one of the very light models, but I wouldn't call it heavy, it can still be transported relatively comfortably. The scooter has a load capacity of 120 kilograms, which is an average value in this category.
Regarding the appearance, I wrote that it is interesting. I didn't use this word by chance, because at first glance the iScooter i10 Max looks like a typical ropiroller, and that can be quite deceiving. Because the form is the same, but the content is something very different. So the design is interesting from this point of view, we imagine exceptionally less in the stuff than what it actually knows.
The central LCD display is located on the steering column, which is clearly visible even in strong sunlight. Basic information can be monitored on the display: speed, battery charge level and the selected mode. You can see whether the light is on or when the turn signal is working. The operation of the latter is also indicated by a rather annoying chirping sound.

The turn signal switches are located on the left side of the steering wheel, and the "lever" of the electric brake is also located here. It is interesting that here the lever of the first mechanical brake is also on the left, which means that in case of a serious accident, we have to operate the levers of the electric brake and the mechanical brake simultaneously with our left hand. We even have a ringtone on this site. The throttle is located on the right side.
It is interesting that the direction indicators are on the ends of the handlebars. This might be good if they hadn't hidden the lights in the rubber grip.

Before I forget, it is important that the height of the steering column is not adjustable. It was perfectly fine for me at 184 centimeters, according to my advice, it might already feel short after a height of 190 centimeters.
As I mentioned, braking is provided by two systems for the iScooter I10 Max: the front mechanical brake and the rear electric brake. Operating the brake system also activates the brake light function of the rear light, in which case the red light changes to flashing.

As part of the lighting system, the height of the front LED headlight can be adjusted to optimize the illuminated area. Of course, the rear LED light functions not only as a brake light, but also as a position indicator.
The z iScooter I10 Max is foldable, which is made possible by a safety lock mechanism on the steering column. When folded, the steering column can be attached to the rear fender with a special clip, although it takes some practice to use. let's be honest, it didn't work out the best.

Adding to the practicality is the side stand, which provides a stable position for parking, unless the parking lot is on a slope, because if it is, the stand closes automatically as the scooter starts to roll forward on the slope.
The charging connector is located behind an opening protected by a rubber plug, which provides IP54 water protection. In addition to the 10-inch inflatable tires, there are shock absorbers at both the front and the rear - about 5 centimeters in the front, a dual suspension system in the rear - for comfortable use. The tread surface of the iScooter I10 Max is covered with an anti-slip rubber coating.

The basic package includes a waterproof zippered bag containing the charger, a spare inner tube, an allen key for installation and an adapter (tube) for inflating the wheels. Assembling the scooter is a simple process, requiring only the installation of the handlebars and the insertion of six screws.
performance and technology - iScooter i10Max specifications and features
In this chapter, I strictly follow the data given in the factory specification, I will describe the actual deviations from them in the experience chapter!
The heart of the iScooter i10 Max is a 750-watt electric motor capable of reaching a top speed of 45 km/h. The power of the engine is sufficient to overcome up to 15 degree inclines. The energy supply is provided by a 48-volt, 18-ampere-hour battery, which provides a range of 80-96 kilometers under ideal conditions. It takes 8-9 hours to fully charge the battery.
The scooter has four different speed modes. The "Walk" mode is practically a push assistant when you walk next to the scooter. The “ECO” energy-saving mode is used to maximize the range. The “D” (Drive) mode is recommended for novice users, with smoother acceleration and moderate top speed. In "S" (Sport) mode, the maximum performance of the scooter is achieved.
Safety equipment includes an electronic brake and a drum brake system. The special feature of the brake system is that the electronic brake initiates minimal automatic deceleration as soon as the throttle is released. The scooter has an IP54 protection rating, which provides adequate protection against dust and splashing water.
The 10-inch pneumatic tires and the double suspension system together ensure the damping of vibrations caused by road defects. The front shock absorber has a spring travel of about 5 centimeters, while the rear double suspension has slightly stiffer characteristics, specially optimized for higher loads.
Cruise control is also part of the on-board electronics, which is automatically activated after maintaining a constant speed for a few seconds and signals its activation with a sound signal. The system switches off immediately when any brake is used or the throttle is adjusted.
The control and monitoring of the scooter is completed by the iScooter mobile application, which is available on both iOS and Android platforms. The app communicates with the scooter via Bluetooth and provides detailed information about its operation.
Users can customize various settings of the scooter through the app. they can turn the cruise control on or off, or set the electric drive to come on immediately when the throttle is pressed, or only when the scooter is pushed in with the foot first.
Other useful functions of the application include locking the scooter, which provides extra protection against theft. This is obviously only an appearance of protection, because you cannot turn on the scooter in the locked state, but this keeps the wheels rolling, so you can easily ride it.
Real user experiences - iScooter i10Max test in the city
During the test of the iScooter i10 Max, I covered a few kilometers in an urban environment, and also took it out on a bike ride outside of a residential area, and this provided enough time to thoroughly familiarize myself with the scooter's capabilities. As a first impression, it is important that although the weight of 21,2 kilograms may seem a lot on paper, it did not cause any particular difficulties during everyday use. Even getting on the train won't be a difficult task with it, and you can really easily lift it into the trunk of the car.
My experience with the folding mechanism of the scooter is mixed. While the basic concept is good, attaching the steering column to the rear fender was sometimes problematic. The fixing clip had a tendency to move, and since the clip was not in the middle, but shifted to the right on the handlebars, it required some skill to find the right balance point when carrying the scooter.
Now come the bad things, I don't want to leave them at the end of the report, because it would spoil the taste, even though the iScooter I10 Max is basically not a bad scooter.
Let's start with the engine. Well, my dear friends, this motor has never been 750 watts in its stinking life. I'm guessing a weaker 500 watt, the maximum peak power can be 750 watts. I will not analyze how ethical it is to give this as factory data, perhaps you also feel that it is not.
At the same time, this motor moved the scooter quite well even with my 90 kilos.
When it arrives to you, the iScooter i10 Max is speed limited to 25 kilometers per hour. In other words, this peak is 15 km/h in sport mode, drive mode, and 6 km/h in ECO mode. If you feel these values are insufficient, you can turn off the speed lock.
To deactivate the speed lock, pull the brake lever and press the power button five times in rapid succession. The speed lock is switched back on in the same way.
According to the factory data, the maximum speed is 45 km/h if the speed lock is released. Well, that's true if you're going downhill and with a strong tailwind. It is a fact that the engine can turn without load so that the odometer shows 45, but if you are also standing on the machine, this will not happen. At least not on a flat road.
With my ninety kilos (which is 30 kilos short of the maximum load capacity) I was able to reach a speed of 30-34 kilometers per hour on a flat road. I note that this is not bad, not even a little, but it is not very ethical to stun the people with 45.
Well, that's the point. So the motor is not 750 watts, the top speed is not 45 km/h, but regardless of this, the iScooter I10 Max is a very livable vehicle. It's quite fast and not overly dynamic. In the case of a scooter, especially in the case of a scooter intended for daily use, I value it much more if it doesn't want to kill you at every moment than if it goes like danger. The iScooter I10 Max is like that.
I don't like cruise control on scooters. The automatic system of the iScooter I10 Max turns on quickly, fortunately it also indicates this with a small beep. The problem is when you drive for a long time at one speed and forget that the automatic is on. In this case, even if you release the throttle, the scooter just keeps going. I think it's a risk of accidents, so I usually switch off the automatic on every scooter.
The performance and characteristics of the braking system was one of the most interesting experiences. The electronic brake proved to be particularly sensitive, so much so that it was easy to be surprised by an unexpected deceleration in the beginning. If you use it together with the mechanical brake, the braking effect is even more surprising. I recommend that you practice, test the brake, get used to its strength, because otherwise you will fly over the steering wheel in the event of an emergency brake.
It is certain that you will not have a problem with the strength of the braking effect, that is, it is difficult for me to imagine that you would not be able to stop due to the weakness of the brake.
The chassis performance was a VERY pleasant surprise. The 10-inch tubed wheels and dual suspension efficiently filtered the unevenness of the road. Even with my body weight of around 90 kg, there was about 2,5 centimeters of spring travel left at the front shock absorber, while the stiffer characteristics of the rear double suspension handled the higher load excellently. When crossing railroad tracks and overcoming curbs, I especially appreciated the undercarriage's capabilities.
The front shock absorber never kicked up during normal use, I had to provoke it directly so that the shock absorber used the full spring travel.
I found the turn signal system less useful in practice. The position of the LEDs on the ends of the handlebars is very less than ideal, as our hands and the rubber grip mostly cover them. The rubber covering of the beacons was prone to displacement, which further reduced the practical usability of the system. Overall, the index is not bad, but I do not recommend that you rely on it and believe that motorists will see that you want to turn.
The performance of the scooter on uphills showed a mixed picture. there were no problems on smaller inclines, but the ones with medium gradients already made the iScooter I10 Max sweat. And he had no chance of climbing the bigger climbs, and he won't be under you, even if you weigh half as much as I do. The weakness is especially noticeable when the battery charge drops below 50%. Dealing with the 15% climb promised by the manufacturer seems a realistic value, but don't expect to do it at full speed, more like trudge is the word I'm looking for to describe this condition.
The lighting system proved to be practical in evening traffic. The adjustable height of the front light allowed for optimal illumination, while the brightness of the rear light was sufficiently intense to be clearly visible to other road users. In rainy weather, I especially appreciated the IP54 protection - the scooter handled the wet conditions without any problems. What is quite silly is that you can only put the bag next to the scooter so that it is directly under the front light, so if you turn the light down, the bag blocks its light.
Pros and Cons - iScooter i10Max Review and Summary
As you can see, the iScooter I10 Max was not a perfect scooter either. I don't even deal with the usual "mistakes", such as the length of the journey on one charge, these are all fake data and can vary greatly depending on the weight of the driver, the chosen speed and the terrain conditions. Let's just say that you can usually calculate with half of the factory data.
The motor's 750 watts and maximum speed are also a joke, none of them are true.
Along with this, the iScooter I10 Max has become a really good scooter. Based on the appearance, it is a simple ropi roller, however, its knowledge far surpasses this level. The suspension and damping are excellent, the strength of the brakes is excellent, the acceleration is even, it doesn't want to kill you, I think the top speed of 30+ kilometers per hour is absolutely acceptable. I don't even understand why you have to lie about that 45.
Overall, the iScooter i10 Max is therefore a very convincing electric scooter, which is primarily optimized for long-distance urban transport. The motor and battery combination provide me with absolutely adequate performance and range for everyday use.
I still feel the application is a bit unnecessary, but it's not bad that it's there, at least you don't use it if you don't feel it's important. It's good that you can turn off the cruise control, it's good that you can turn off the instant start, but for example, you won't be switching the light on from the application, because why would you?
The scooter's greatest strengths therefore include the excellent chassis, the reliable braking system, the 10-inch wheels and the combination of double suspension and electronic and mechanical brakes.
The negative is the clip, which can be used to hang the steering wheel in the rear fender when folded, and I also include the indexes here, the placement of which was not very good. However, these are not critical shortcomings, rather just convenience factors.
The i10 Max can be an ideal choice for those who regularly cover distances of 5-15 kilometers in an urban environment and are looking for a reliable, well-equipped device. The scooter's performance and range allow it to be a real alternative to either public transport or a car.
