Speakers from Scythe and other delicacies

The third page of our article is dedicated to sound generation. For those who are used to paying attention to our writings about the company's products, the product line is not surprising, as Scythe has already entered the market with an amplifier, which ITT you can read.

However, the package now presented is different, as it includes not only an amplifier but also speakers. Kama Bay AMP Kro is an improved version of the exertion already presented. His soul hasn’t changed, it’s still Yamaha’s tile that does the job of strengthening. It is worth returning to our previous article, as our colleague Gábor discussed the nature of digital amplification in considerable detail and also introduced the amplifier itself.

As we wrote above, some change has happened. By snapping off the top of the amplifier, we can see that the printed circuit board has increased slightly. It is also noticeable that the area around the outputs has been redesigned, we find here some extra capacitors, and also an extra chip per side, which, however, we could not identify on the net, so we are not even aware of its task.

Which is for sure, the amp didn’t get any worse. The only downside to the predecessor we learned earlier is that we don’t find an extra front in the box, so we have to get to the black front here and now.

What hasn’t changed, however, is the workmanship, which we don’t win to praise for Scythe products. The extremely jawy housing is left, the rubber feet are also left, just as of course the back panel connectors are still shining with a golden light.

What is also important about the amplifier is that it can be used outside the machine thanks to the rubber feet, in which case the required power supply can be solved via a back panel outlet. However, if there is not enough space on the table, the installation remains in the machine. In this case, unscrew the two side covers to fit the amplifier in a 3,5-inch drive bay. What we still have a sense of lack is the lack of front panel output (s). There was no shortage of space for the designers, if not for a line, a headphone output would really fit on the box.

In this case, of course, the amplifier is worth nothing, so we quickly connected the speakers as well. These boxes are made of rubbish, so it is already likely that they will not be too bad, but at least the chances of berezonation will be minimal. As Gábor described annually, the amplifier is a good piece compared to its price, and now we can't write anything else about the sound generators. Boxes with 10 watts of power sound average or slightly better. There were the fewest problems with deep tones, due to the fact that we found reflex openings of considerable size on the back front, but unusual in location and shape. According to the data, the air is directed directly to these openings, thus improving the sound of deeper sounds somewhat.

As we were used to with these higher-quality but not high-end devices, we are pretty much fine with the high tones as well, meaning the chirping was sufficient, though perhaps not as much as it was for the deep tones. Which, in turn, was almost entirely missing from the range of midrange notes.

All in all, it can be said that the performance of both the amplifier and the speakers can be appreciated, but of course only with the limitations that usually come with sets of this design. But they definitely performed better than the average stereo speaker pairs, and what’s important in terms of material selection and workmanship are earning five.
