Updated: LCD keyboard from Logitech
Logitech, the world's leading manufacturer of wireless mice and keyboards, today introduced its Logitech® Cordless Desktop® MX ™ 5000 Laser suite. A novelty is the LCD display built into the keyboard, which helps users to keep track of the now inevitable influx of information from computer work.
Update: thanks to Logitech, we were able to incorporate a much better quality image into the news.
The wireless keyboard receives the data from the computer and the built-in LCD screen shows it
The LCD screen can alert you when an email or text message arrives and list your favorite music or internet radio stations. Because some information can appear on the keyboard — such as the status of the Caps Lock or F-Lock keys, volume settings, or even silent mode — you can reduce the number of little things originally indicated on the screen, freeing up useful screen space.
These new capabilities signal a change in the role of wireless keyboards and mice in computing. THE Logitech Cordless Desktop MX 5000 Laser keyboard itself is more than a simple input device: it can send and receive data from a computer, making it a smart peripheral. The product adds a new Bluetooth® wireless hub to our computer Bluetooth 2.0 Enhanced Data Rate (EDR) technology drive.
"Logitech introduced the world's first mouse-keyboard combination in 1998 with the goal of reducing the number of tangled cables that wrap around the desktop." Said Denis Pavillard, vice president of marketing for Logitech's desktop division. “We managed to achieve that back then, so now we’re breaking our heads at solving other kinds of tangles: we’re sorting out the chaos of warnings and pieces of information that appear on a computer monitor. THE Logitech Cordless Desktop MX 5000 Laser keyboard moves this data to the peripheral display so users can decide when to take a look at their pending alerts. There will also be more order in monitors and heads. ”

The sleek-looking keyboard is built on a flat, flat surface and is only 22,3 millimeters high. When designing the keyboard, Logitech uses a zero-angle (Logitech® Zero Degree Tilt ™), which means that each row of buttons is placed at the same height. Independent research shows that the ergonomic advantage of a low-key keyboard without slope is that it minimizes wrist stretching. This is because re-stretching and releasing the wrist can cause discomfort in the palm and forearm. The keyboard, mouse, and receiver are also a mix of deep blue and silver highlights.
