Tension is incessant - do we need it?
With this unit, we are already entering the corporate segment, which is indicated not only by the increased performance, but also by the CD that comes out of the box and the included USB cable. After unpacking, we can see that it is a significantly fattened piece compared to the little salt, but because of what has been described above, we are no longer surprised by this. Looking at the back, we can see that the electrical connection of up to three devices can be solved, and if necessary, we can even transfer our ADSL line to the power supply, which can be very useful in the event of a storm.
Since this is already a piece with more serious capabilities, we also need to talk a little bit about software garnish.
In the case of the BNT-1000APU, as already mentioned, it is possible to connect to a PC via a USB port. Before connecting, install the UPS Monitor software on the CD to display the data. After a successful connection, you can see the following window:
The display graphics are analog style, in the "clocks" we can see the output and input voltage, output and input frequency, load level and battery charge level. On the right side, you can see a few more graphics - also status indicators - which provide additional information about the network, the UPS and how it is used.
In the toolbar above, you can come across new windows that hide other configuration options and features, let's see the more important ones:
System Configuration. Mainly a collection of variables related to alarms and shutdowns, such as delaying the appearance of a warning window that appears in the event of a network failure or delaying the shutdown of the UPS.
Schedule Setup: We also get a calendar function; with monthly, weekly, daily and differentiated daily setting options.
With the help of Record Viewer, the monitoring can be recorded, so in the event of an error, we can retrieve the changes that took place before the event, from which we can deduce the reasons. This is a kind of "black box", in case we are faced with some mysterious error, or we need to prove the reasons for the shutdown with specifics.
The Event Log serves similar purposes, but only in character form and with a smaller circle of information. Log events can also be printed immediately.
With the Pager Setup option, you can assign phone numbers to each event, and according to the errors (or even uniformly) you can also be aware of unexpected events in case of absence.
E-Mail Setup has been included in the software for similar reasons, different conditions can be specified for each event. It is a less secure method than telephone, as we may not be immediately aware of the arrival of the letter, but there is no additional cost.
By the end, all that was left was a summary of the data in the form of a table!
