Nowadays, the price of uninterruptible power supplies has dropped to such a level that it is no longer impossible to get some more modest pieces of equipment for home use, and let's just say, calmly, they are among the recommended hardware. The wholesale price of the first piece discussed is slightly above HUF 11 gross, which may increase by approximately 10-15 percent by the time it reaches retailers. Just calculate how much a top-of-the-line video card costs, or how much of that amount is a non-stop unit. Let’s think about what happens when our machine gets a bowl voltage due to a power fluctuation, a size that even modern power supplies can’t attenuate enough, or simply bursts later than, say, VGA. It’s a painful loss, and we didn’t even talk about our data then. It is also bad to think how much loss we can suffer just because we regretted spending eleven thousand forints on an uninterrupted unit.

This does not show the wattage, but the number of amperes of the load capacity. It is important data, as it does not matter how much hardware we connect to such a unit. However, when making a purchase, not only this value is important to us, but also the watt value, as it shows how many watts the unit can deliver until it runs out. This value is important because if it is too low, it will drain before we can safely shut down our machine. Of course, this can only be the case for units with very low power or a “tired” battery, as as you will see on one of the following pages, even the small BNT-400A provides enough time for this.

So far, we’ve discussed how important an uninterrupted unit can be in our home. This is especially true for our workplace, as the data stored on our machine can really be worth a lot there. In the case of the workplace, we can choose a unit for ourselves based on principles similar to our home. What may be different is that in the case of a workplace, we can even think of a solution that can provide enough energy for the work, even in the event of a half-hour power outage, because time is money and we cannot produce money in the time lost due to a power outage. In this case, it is worth choosing a unit that can power more than one piece of hardware, for example, you can connect your printer to it. These units are, of course, more powerful in terms of both amperes and watts, but for that to happen, the manufacturer must install a larger capacity battery. This will inevitably lead to larger size, more weight, and last but not least, a higher price.
