Introductory

As I indicated in my previous roller presentation, I’m not a big scooter, I prefer bikes. However, with the Eleglide S1 Plus, I can already feel why it is good to ride a scooter.

Eleglide S1 Plus - a livable, cheap electric scooter for everyday use 1

Eleglide's new two-wheeler has become one of the friendliest scooters of recent times. Friendly, but definitely speeding up, friendly but firmly stopping. It doesn’t tear our heads off, but we don’t want to get over the wheel either, and its running comfort is excellent.

So, this machine is caught, and from this article you will find out exactly why!

In the case of the Eleglide S1 Plus, I can’t write much about unpacking and assembling, as it essentially doesn’t need to be assembled.

Eleglide S1 Plus - a livable, cheap electric scooter for everyday use 3

From the completely frost- and chic-free cardboard, we lift out the scooter, screw on the display that also includes the throttle lever, and then we can start. But before you get started, let’s take a look at the specification!

Paper form

In this chapter, I briefly summarize what the factory data promises. Let's see!

The Eleglide S1 Plus is a very new machine, it was officially introduced just a few weeks ago. It’s basically a lower-middle-class piece, at least when we look at performance, top speed.

Eleglide S1 Plus - a livable, cheap electric scooter for everyday use 5

Concerning the KugooKirin S1 Pro in my previous article, I said that the machine is expected to fit into the frame that we can drive without a license and mandatory insurance. The final speed of that machine was problematic because it knew 25 Km / h instead of the expected maximum of 30 Km / h.

The Eleglide S1 Plus also almost fits in, but it's not the top speed, it's the performance that hangs out. The new regulation is expected to have a 350-watt cap, but the Eleglide will have a 400-watt cap. On the other hand, we are good at the top speed, because according to the rules it is expected to be a maximum of 25 Km / hour, but this scooter can only “only” 24 Km / hour.

Eleglide S1 Plus - a livable, cheap electric scooter for everyday use 6

As usual, we get more gears here. For each of the ECO modes, here the final speed is 9 Km / hr. The second is the normal mode, here it is 18, while the third sport mode has a maximum speed of 24 kilometers per hour.

As expected, as the gears change, not only the final speed but also the rate of acceleration changes. In ECO mode we accelerate very gently and carefully, while in sport mode we get thicker performance. Thus, this scooter is also recommended for complete beginners, as the speed of 9 kilometers per hour and the subtle acceleration will be neither scary nor dangerous.

Eleglide S1 Plus - a livable, cheap electric scooter for everyday use 7

It is related to speed and safety that the scooter does not start to accelerate from a standing position. This is also useful for beginners, the machine does not run out from under them. To turn on the electric drive we need a little push with our feet. In practice, this means a speed of 3 kilometers per hour. When this is achieved, the engine will start.

If you’re already experienced, there’s going to be a way to change that, but I’ll write about that a little later!

Eleglide S1 Plus - a livable, cheap electric scooter for everyday use 8

In terms of speed and safety, I still mention that this scooter has got quite large, 10-inch wheels, which, moreover, have not solid but balloon tires. This is bad because, like any balloon wheel, it can get a puncture, but it’s good because we can easily glide through it with minor road defects.

Eleglide S1 Plus - a livable, cheap electric scooter for everyday use 9

In terms of dimensions, this scooter is located somewhere in the middle. Open 115 x 54 x 118 centimeters, closed 106 x 19 x 38 centimeters. Now you can think about why it will be shorter and narrower when closed. The height is obvious as we close the handlebars.

Well, the answer is simple. Its length will be smaller because the front wheel folds up when closed, thus reducing the length. The width will be less because 54 inches is the widest point measured between the two ends of the handlebars. On the other hand, the steering horns can also be closed, so at the widest point it will be only 19 inches.

Eleglide S1 Plus - a livable, cheap electric scooter for everyday use 10

To fit the folding, the handlebar height of this roller can also be adjusted. The lowest point is 94- the highest is 118 centimeters. It is also important that of course there is a support, which will not overturn the structure when parking.

Important data is also the electrical system and the range that can be done. Well, the Eleglide S1 Plus got a 36-volt, 450-watt system with a battery capacity of 12,5 Ah. Charging can, of course, be done from 230 volts, namely 2 watts. It takes 6-7 hours to fully charge, and with one charge we can cover 45 kilometers.

For the latter value, it is good to know that this is to be understood in a smooth way, with a 70-pound passenger. So, if you are heavier, maybe the neighborhood is hilly, this value can be loosely halved. This is not small either, because e.g. It is enough to go to work in Pest for the Kelenföld-Óbuda route, then during the day you can recharge at the workplace and you can burst home with it.

I’ve already talked about the balloon rubber and the rear disc brake. Engine brake, so there is no energy feedback, we have to rely on the disc brake.

At the end of the display or controls.

Eleglide S1 Plus - a livable, cheap electric scooter for everyday use 12

We get a key switch to unplug the scooter. In addition, we get a charge indicator (battery voltage) and we get the main spice, from the side of which the throttle arm protrudes. On the display of the instrument we can see our speed, we can see the gear, and by switching the buttons we can see the total distance traveled, the time elapsed since switching on. There are other (hidden) features, but I'll talk about that in use!

Eleglide S1 Plus - a livable, cheap electric scooter for everyday use 13

Let’s jump on it too, let’s see what we liked and what we didn’t like!

Experiences

What's not to like?

The first and most important thing is that, like other cheap scooters, they do not indicate water resistance. Basically, it should be, we find the usual engine control housing in it, which in a thousand Chinese electric vehicles, that’s why I know its housing is waterproof. Okay, it won't last a meter deep for half an hour, but the splashing water won't flow into it.

Although this is the case with the battery pack, in theory it is also waterproof.

I would definitely suggest that if you want to use it in the rain, drain it if it hasn’t already been done in the factory. Fortunately, the platinum is easy to unscrew, there is electrical stuff underneath, so to make the rollered waterproof enough to insulate the area around the charger connector and insulate the bottom of the platinum around the screws.

But don't listen to me, see for yourself if I haven't noticed any hidden openings.

So I don’t like this water resistance, or more precisely its lack, but at least it can be easily and cheaply remedied. Unless you buy it for this reason, think about it, whatever you buy at this price, it will all be like that.

The other thing I don't like is the lock key. This can de-energize the scooter, but why? So this defense is a sweet little, so why?

Eleglide S1 Plus - a livable, cheap electric scooter for everyday use 15

The third is that the closing of the handlebar is a bit wobbly. This tiny game is caused by the hinge on which we close and unlock the handlebar. I checked, pumpkin is made of good materials, the structure is also good, so it won't break, it won't fall apart, it could just be a little more precise.

What do you like?

Let's start with the engine! So suddenly the easiest way to compare it is with the last Kugoo scooter, which was 350 watts as opposed to the 400 watts of the Eleglide. Feeling the Kugoo took his feet faster, the top speed was also higher.

On the other hand, with the Eleglide S1 Plus, there is a way to limit the final speed, which can in principle be unlocked from the secret menu. True, it makes no sense, I didn't manage to drive faster than 27 Km / h, even on a slope. Of course, the slope is sure to be…

I can definitely say that the Eleglide, even if it’s not an off-road scooter, can still (slowly) ride on grassy, slightly bumpy ground, while the Kugoo didn’t know that much.

Eleglide S1 Plus - a livable, cheap electric scooter for everyday use 16

The comfort of the ride is greatly aided by the wheel size (10 inches) and balloon tires. This scooter, unlike the Kugoo, only has front shock absorbers, yet it looks orders of magnitude more comfortable than that. This is clearly due to the tires.

According to the manufacturer, the vehicle can cope with a 20-degree incline. This is approx. it can be true as you can do with a range of 45 kilometers, that is, if you are not heavier than 70 kilograms. Otherwise, overcoming the 12-15 degree rise is realistic. However, even in this, it is much better than the past Kugoo, on the ascent on which it bleeded, that is, if not merrily, it rolled up.

Eleglide S1 Plus - a livable, cheap electric scooter for everyday use 17

If I’ve mentioned the secret menu so far, let’s talk about the on-board computer a bit!

On this unit we find two buttons and a large display. I have already written above what appears on the display by default. However, there is also a hidden menu here, just like on ADO bikes. This can be accomplished by holding down the two buttons simultaneously. This brings you to the menu where you can set the following:

  • P02 - 0: Km / h, 1: Miles / hour
  • P04 - Sleep mode on time, 0 off, value between 1-60 minutes
  • P06 - Wheel diameter: Do not poke
  • P07 - Number of magnets: Do not poke
  • P09 - Immediate start 0: on, 1: off
  • P12 - Starting torque 0-5
  • P15 - Setting the speed limit (max speed): 0-100
  • P16 - Cruise control: 0 off, 1 on
  • P99 - Reset

Let's go through the points!

  • Each point is understandable, no explanation is needed. Point four is not too complicated either, after the set time the bike will turn off automatically. Do not adjust the six and seven settings!
  • The first point of interest is the ninth point. By default, as I wrote, the bike doesn’t start on its own, it has to be pushed in, then there will only be torque on the wheel. This is a security setting that can be turned off here. If you do this, pulling the throttle will start the roller from scratch. You have to get used to it, for those who are more experienced I think it is worth turning it on, if you are a beginner, maybe your sense of balance is not on the top, you better stay with the factory setting!
  • P12 is the setting of the starting torque, ie we can set here how much torque the engine delivers when we pull the throttle lever. This is set to five at the factory, which is the maximum, so we can only refine this if we feel that the machine starts too suddenly.
  • P15 - Here you can set the maximum speed while the assist will work. If you set it to 100, the final speed of the scooter will not be 100 Km / hour. Anyway, the factory setting is 100, so only set this if you want to control the factory maximum for some reason. Let’s say you don’t want your partner or child to pretend one as a beginner.
  • P16 is a useful setting, here we can turn on the cruise control. It essentially works the way you expect it to. If you hold the throttle in one position for 5 seconds, the cruise control will engage and maintain speed. Switches off to brake. It’s not turned on at the factory, but it’s worth it because it’s a really good thing!
  • The P99 is simple again, here you can do everything by default. I did not check if the default setting and the factory setting are the same, such as the number of magnets, etc. so before you start making things, I suggest you write down what it was set to at the factory!

Well, I’ve already revealed a lot of interesting things, but I haven’t talked about what it’s like to ride this scooter yet.

If I had to say it in a word, I would say good! In three words, I would say very, very good!

Most importantly, this roller drives at the rear, meaning the engine is at the rear. But not only is the engine at the rear, but the brake as well. This makes it a very comfortable and safe feeling to use. You don’t want to fall off when accelerating, you don’t want to get over the wheel when braking. In the latter case, the roller does not begin to tilt forward, in fact, rather the rear tire sits together a bit.

The manufacturer emphasizes that the platni on which we stand is long and wide. Well, that doesn't exaggerate. Sure, there are large, multi-thousand-watt off-road rollers that are even more robust, but basically the Eleglide S1 Plus platnia is just wide enough, and my almost 43 feet will fit on it more than comfortably. I should guess, then the 46-47 legs will also fit easily.

Plus, this platinum is coated with an abrasive cloth-like material that simply makes it impossible for your feet to slip off it.

Eleglide S1 Plus - a livable, cheap electric scooter for everyday use 19

I’ve tried a few scooters in recent years, but seriously, the comfort of the Eleglide S1 Plus isn’t worth much.

Of course, I also tried it on hard pavement, asphalt, paving stones, i.e. in urban conditions, and I also tried it in the field.

In the former case, obviously not, and there is no problem. As I have already written, this scooter will be suitable even if the road quality is not perfect, the larger wheels and the flat tires eliminate minor road defects quite well.

Eleglide S1 Plus - a livable, cheap electric scooter for everyday use 20

For me, the field ability was more surprising. Even on medium-quality forest roads, it is possible to roll happily on it, the protruding smaller roots and stones are not an obstacle. Unfortunately, 400 watts of power is a limit here as well, at least in the sense that we’re not going to climb a mountain.

Maybe even more so that in this fall, clean, sticky weather, you had to pay attention because there are no off-road tires on the vehicle and the braked wheel tends to slip.

So when it comes to transportation, the point is that the Eleglide S1 Plus can be used well in cities, parks, or even on flat country and forest roads, but you can expect calm, spectacular rolling rather than crazy.

Eleglide S1 Plus - a livable, cheap electric scooter for everyday use 21

I really like the fact that the manufacturer installed a separate voltage indicator on the steering wheel. There is such a point in the computer menu, so you can see the current voltage, but you have to press the Mode button. Now, he pushes on the go, who has six mothers, I don’t want to make a face. On the other hand, the other display is always visible, so I can see how many souffles are still in the battery!

I also really like the fact that we have a USB A connector on the bottom of the computer. Who will you find out, yes, with this we can fill e.g. our phone. To do this, of course, you need to mount a phone holder on the steering wheel, but it’s not a huge expense, buy one and you’ll even have navigation!

Who do I recommend buying?

The maximum load capacity is 120 pounds, the maximum height of the handlebars is 118 inches, so if we have to look at physique, it will be suitable for more full-bodied, taller ladies and gentlemen to go to work on a daily basis.

It is basically designed for urban transport, but you are not afraid of light terrain or inferior asphalt. Of course, from a 10-inch wheel, it’s not going to be an MTB bike yet, so you’re going to fall in the face with big holes like any scooter. But, even so, it’s a thousand better than a solid wheeled piece.

Eleglide S1 Plus - a livable, cheap electric scooter for everyday use 22

The disadvantage of inflated rubber, however, is that it can puncture. Of course, you don’t have to live in fear of it, but it doesn’t hurt to always have a tiny puncture repairer in your backpack. Not very many of these bottles, they don’t even weigh, so just to keep you calm, buy one next to the scooter!

He still goes up on smaller hills, but you don't want to roll up to Freedom Hill in Buda anymore, you won't succeed.

In summary. I recommend it to anyone who is looking for an alternative to public transport, but who would occasionally want to get on a bus, tram, train with it. It can really be folded a little, and weights under 20 pounds can be lifted even without much effort.

Due to the range it can do, you can take good advantage of commuting from the agglomeration and only want to drive to the P + R car park. It also fits in the trunk of smaller cars, so you just grab it, pop it up and go for it.

Eleglide S1 Plus - a livable, cheap electric scooter for everyday use 23

I recommend it for beginners and advanced, to anyone who is not looking for an adrenaline rush. Incredibly calm, yet fast-paced progress can be achieved with it, without any kind of dread palm sweating. So you will have a real loyal mule if you buy it!

Summary

I hope I described everything. I definitely wanted to tell you that it’s really one of the last few years, but it might be your best scooter, at least in this 350-400 watt category.

Fortunately, the price is not high either, as we can buy it with the coupon code NNNINFLUENCER300 for 120 forints. It comes from an EU warehouse, there is no shipping fee, you don't even have to deal with customs clearance, and of course the price includes VAT.

Eleglide S1 Plus - a livable, cheap electric scooter for everyday use 24

It is important that you can also buy an EU return option for 1883 forints, so in case of an unrepairable error, you do not have to return it to China, only to the warehouse where you bought it.
