Introductory

I never would have thought, but lately, I like to test vacuum cleaners much better than phones, for example. While mobile phones are a kind of nihil, you mean there is no meaningful development that really enhances the user experience, while vacuum cleaners are turning the world out of the corners of the manufacturers.

Suffice it to think of my last robotic vacuum cleaner article where I was able to introduce the Dreame Bot L10 Pro robot, with capabilities that we only dared to dream of even half a year ago.

Now I am lucky to introduce you to the manufacturer’s new stationary vacuum cleaner, which carries at least as much novelty as the robot.

However, before we get into the article, I need to write down a few short sentences so that you can then put the machine and your knowledge into context!

I have been using a stationary vacuum cleaner for years. For a long time, I said — and I believe it was — that stationary vacuum cleaners are nothing more than an electric broom. They’re not very strong, they can hold a charge for a very short time, so they’re pretty good at being that if you spill a little crumb on the ground, you’ll absorb it quickly. No need to broom, shovel, just turn on the machine and the crumbs are gone.

Then what happened was the release in the second half of last year and this year of machines that go well beyond this role of electric brooms. In fact, the goods also rival the price of a traditional vacuum cleaner, but their field of application has also expanded considerably.

There has been a quick start-up, an increase in battery capacity, the arrival of automatically changing suction power and a lot of new features that have made these machines much more powerful and now have plenty of cocoa in them to vacuum even an entire apartment.

Xiaomi Dreame T30 vacuum cleaner test - this is the space age! 3

The machine in the current test will be the same, but Dreame engineers, as with the L10 Pro robotic vacuum cleaner, have sprinkled a bunch of novelties among us, including simple but practical things and solutions that result in more serious gills that hit the floor.

Let's cut into it!

Packaging and accessories

I usually try to close this chapter quickly, but it won’t work now. The reason for this is the sea of accessories we get next to the vacuum cleaner.

Xiaomi Dreame T30 vacuum cleaner test - this is the space age! 4

The box, as in the case of the Dreame robot, reveals that we have come across a premium product here. Black, oversized cardboard, front and back, side pictures, and key capabilities. Everything is beautifully photographed, with beautiful graphics, so it’s a pleasure to pick up and look at the packaging. I don't write like that often…

When we open the lid, we don't even know where to start unpacking the accessories.

Xiaomi Dreame T30 vacuum cleaner test - this is the space age! 5

At the top right are a few descriptions and a thick manual that would also be an honor for a smart TV.

Everything is neatly packed in the carton, individually divided into compartments so that nothing is damaged during transport.

Wall bracket

The wall bracket has both advantages and disadvantages. The downside is that if you drill it somewhere, it will be macerous to move it. The advantage is that the more normally designed pieces already include the charging contact, we also get a tray for accessories, and the vacuum cleaner can also be placed securely, without tilting.

Xiaomi Dreame T30 vacuum cleaner test - this is the space age! 6

We also get such a wall mount for the Dreame T30. The vacuum cleaner is sure to cup into place, there is also a charging connector, so you don’t have to plug the cord into the vacuum cleaner, and more importantly, we won’t forget to charge it after use.

Maybe I don’t have to say how annoying it is that we realize we forgot to charge when we pick up the machine and want to use it. Well, it won't be here!

Floor nozzle

This is where the curiosities begin!

It is no longer unusual for manufacturers to use a rotating brush on these vacuum cleaners. They are powered by maintenance-free, carbon-free, powerful motors. Their advantage is that despite the relatively low suction power, they can deliver dirt to the vacuum cleaner tube. Of course, the relatively low suction power is not typical of the Dreame T30, but more on that later!

Xiaomi Dreame T30 vacuum cleaner test - this is the space age! 7

So, this head also has a motorized brush, but not the usual shape that is common to all other manufacturers. Dreame says that with the new kind of design, the brush can collect dirt much more efficiently and deliver it to the tube.

Xiaomi Dreame T30 vacuum cleaner test - this is the space age! 8

There’s one more interesting thing about it, similar to the one used on the L10 Pro robot. This is nothing more than the automatic removal of hair and hairs wrapped around the brush. For this, a comb was placed in the head, above the brush. It seems effective to me, even though we didn’t have many tasks.

Upholstery vacuum cleaner head, mite vacuum cleaner

There’s something interesting about it that improves efficiency. Most manufacturers put upholstery cleaning heads next to their machines. These also work with a power brush, but are smaller, and the brush is different than the floor head.

Xiaomi Dreame T30 vacuum cleaner test - this is the space age! 9

Their role is not only to absorb dust, but also to remove mites, insecticides and other allergens from the upholstery. To increase efficiency, the Dreame has placed a small swivel base on the bottom of the head that, regardless of the angle at which the machine is held, rests nicely on the surface.

Suction tube

Xiaomi Dreame T30 vacuum cleaner test - this is the space age! 11

With this vacuum cleaner, we even have to talk about the suction tube separately, because I have never seen such a light tube next to a stationary vacuum cleaner. Of course, this is no wonder, as its wall thickness is relentlessly thin. This could be achieved by using carbon fiber materials (carbon patterned tube, cool enough) that make the otherwise pile-light tube extremely resistant. The inscription on it just icing on the cake, beef looks good!

Suction head

Xiaomi Dreame T30 vacuum cleaner test - this is the space age! 12

It took a lot, as they say, but Dreame engineers don’t care, even the completely simple sub-suction head has been turbocharged. It’s not enough to look really good, they even put lighting in the front. This can come in handy if e.g. between the couch and the wall, or between the cabinets and the wall, we suck the dust where it is traditionally dark.

Elbow tube

Xiaomi Dreame T30 vacuum cleaner test - this is the space age! 13

The machine also comes with an elbow tube that can be bent up to 90 degrees. I saw this with other vacuum cleaners as well, but there was no contact in it, it is in it.

The point is that if you place the elbow between the long suction tube and the vacuum cleaner, you can easily insert the tube together with the suction head, for example under cabinets. I really like this very good solution and due to the built-in contacts the motorized suction head also stays functional.

More details

There are three more accessories left. Two of these are suction heads for shelves, books, tables, similar places, and the third is a hose.

Xiaomi Dreame T30 vacuum cleaner test - this is the space age! 15

The latter is interesting in that using this we can easily turn the machine into a car vacuum cleaner. One end can go to the vacuum cleaner that we put on the seat, the other end to a small suction head, and we can already vacuum the dirt from the car, from the hidden gaps. The thing is practical!

Paper form

I can already see that this article will be much longer than the usual stationary vacuum cleaner articles, but if you have something to write about, it will always happen. And now it is, plenty!

In the paper form chapter, we take the factory data so that before I go into use, we see what Dreame promises and then what we get in reality compared to it. I'll shoot the joke, everything.

Xiaomi Dreame T30 vacuum cleaner test - this is the space age! 17

Let's start with the suction power!

The Dreame T30 has a suction power of no less than 27 pascals (000 AW). This is a market-leading value, but to feel the weight of the thing, an average robotic vacuum cleaner is 190 Pa, a peak robot is 2000 Pa, the market-leading suction power Dreame Bot L3000 Pro is 10 Pa, and the top stationary vacuum cleaner I use is 4000 Pa. he wanted to be the best - just like the L25 Pro robot - so this was also improved a bit.

Xiaomi Dreame T30 vacuum cleaner test - this is the space age! 18

Of course, high suction also requires a good motor. The T30’s engine is an in-house development, and now let’s hold on, 150 turns per minute. I mean, it includes the rotor and of course the blades. Quite amazing.

Next to the powerful engine, we get an advanced filter system that can collect dust up to 0,3 microns in size, and we get an 8-layer noise reduction system so that our ears are not harmed by the noise generated by the fast engine.

Xiaomi Dreame T30 vacuum cleaner test - this is the space age! 19

Speaking of cleaning capabilities, the factory description is that it can remove 99 percent of mites in mite vacuum mode (i.e., with a upholstery cleaning head). This means practically 100 percent, but of course no one dares to describe it, because what if you stay there 1-2 and then someone sues them in the end. So the point is, the mite vacuum mode is essentially error-free.

Now you can come with one extra!

This is a very important thing, so you also need a little introduction to understand why.

Xiaomi Dreame T30 vacuum cleaner test - this is the space age! 20

One of the biggest problems with stationary vacuum cleaners is the short operating time. The battery may not be too large because it needs to be carried, but with high suction power, fast motors devour electricity.

Manufacturers are of course trying to help with this, battery technology is also evolving. We get replaceable batteries, if all the ropes break, we can at least do it to replace it when it is discharged.

However, there is one much better thing that improves battery life by orders of magnitude, and that is nothing but the automatically adjustable suction power.

Xiaomi Dreame T30 vacuum cleaner test - this is the space age! 21

Why is this good? Because we tend to use the machine at maximum speed anyway to have good efficiency. We’re not paying attention when we’re pushing on a carpet or floor, we’re not going to shift gears every second.

What does this mean?

This that a full charge in many cases will only take 5-6 minutes to vacuum. This needs to be improved in some way, and the automatic suction power will be of great help to us in this.

Xiaomi Dreame T30 vacuum cleaner test - this is the space age! 22

It is also in the machine I use, and the suction will be stronger or weaker depending on how much vacuum is created in the vacuum tube. That is, if I get lost on a carpet, less air will get in, the vacuum will be higher, if I walk on a hard floor there will be more air, and there will be less vacuum.

The higher the vacuum, the more the machine engages, the greater the suction force. This is a more or less well-functioning method, it improves the available uptime, but it has a big flaw. It does not take into account the amount of dirt when adjusting the suction power. That is, there may be a heart heavily where the carpet is clean, and less so where the floor is clean.

Now comes the point!

Dreame engineers have, of course, added an automatic mode to the vacuum cleaner, which is to be expected with a high-end machine! What threw a lot, however, is that the suction force does not, or not only, depend on the degree of vacuum, but also on the amount of powder.

Xiaomi Dreame T30 vacuum cleaner test - this is the space age! 23

Yes, no mistake, the machine has been given a sensor that measures and detects the amount of dust and, depending on this, is able to automatically regulate the suction force. That is, where a lot of dust and dirt will suck harder, where less, there will be weaker! Well, that's what I'm saying is innovation!

Operating time. As has been shown so far, uptime is a crucial issue. The Dreame T30 doesn’t boast an insanely long operating time, at least at maximum speed, but it’s important to note, it’s not the fault of the machine, it’s simply where the battery technology is now, that’s how much energy the machine can hold.

According to the factory data, we get 90 minutes in ECO mode, but let's quickly forget that. No one will vacuum in ECO mode because the suction power is not something steel. Standard mode can already be used if you really only suck up small crumbs and dust, in which case you get 35 minutes. In Turbo mode, when we really have the market-leading suction power, the operating time is just 7,5 minutes. And that's factory data, assuming a brand new battery.

So this automatic suction power will be good, but how much will I describe in the next chapter!

Xiaomi Dreame T30 vacuum cleaner test - this is the space age! 24

At the end is another extra, and this is the display of the vacuum cleaner.

Seriously, I’ve never met anything like this before. It's a good thing to see the mode set and the remaining battery charge, but Dreame has gone a long way.

A rather large color display has been built into the machine. In addition to this normal operating mode and charge display, we can see a constantly changing graph of the amount of dust detected, so not only can we hear that the engine is running faster, but we can also see which parts are dirty and which parts are cleaner in the apartment.

The amount of dust can not only be seen on the graph, it is also indicated by the light bar around the display. Green has little dust and red has a lot of dust.

The remaining display function warns of dirt on the filter and sounds even when the filter is ripe for replacement, but also if the roller brush is too dirty and e.g. stuck.

Experiences

The test of the pudding is eating, with the vacuum cleaners I vacuum to find out how much of the marketing rice is true. Well, with the Dreame T30, it’s basically everything.

Let's start with the cleaning time. I know I said no one would vacuum in ECO mode, but I tried it as well as medium and turbo mode. I didn’t vacuum these, I just turned on the vacuum and let it run until it discharged.

Xiaomi Dreame T30 vacuum cleaner test - this is the space age! 25

Here is a drop of fraud in the factory data. The situation is that the specified operating times are valid when the motor brushes are not used. Without it, the ECO was 87 minutes (factory data 90), I measured 36 minutes in the medium gear (factory data 35), and at the maximum speed it was a little less than 8 minutes (factory data 7,5). If I also used a motorized brush, these values dropped to 55-24 and 6 min, respectively.

What’s really interesting, however, is how much automatic mode improves things. The most important thing I noticed is that not only dust detection but also the surface is an influencing factor. So it is likely that the T30 also has a vacuum sensor. That is, the engine sped up on the carpets.

Consider the measured operating time as a guide, I do not guarantee that this will be the case for everyone, as it depends on how much the carpet is, how dusty the apartment is. If you have to switch to high speed several times, the operating time can be drastically reduced.

The point is that I managed to get it out of the machine for roughly 17 minutes, and the cleaning was perfect due to the changing suction power.

Xiaomi Dreame T30 vacuum cleaner test - this is the space age! 26

Cleaning the machine is good anyway. It’s not heavy and the weight distribution is also perfect. The grip, the cunning is very good, does not burden the wrist of the machine weight, so vacuuming is really very good with it!

Another important experience is that the protection against hair and hairs that are curled up on the brush is perfect. True, we do not have e.g. dog, only my pair of long hair, but for sure after the cleaning there were 1-2 strands only on the brush. This means that the machine can be used even with pets with longer hair.

I mentioned above that according to the factory data, the vacuum cleaner received 8 layers of noise filtering. It does its job relatively well, but I wouldn’t dare say I didn’t come across a quieter machine. It's not confusing, but I wouldn't dare say it at a low, maximum turn.

Although I don’t usually do specific tests on the quality of vacuuming, I now had time for it and was curious about the effectiveness. Cat litter, flour, coffee grounds and rice were dirt to be vacuumed. On hard floors, in the case of smaller doses I achieved a XNUMX percent result, in the case of larger piles there was a bit of scattering. Of course, this was also absorbed by a move in the second round, but it was not possible with a pass.

Xiaomi Dreame T30 vacuum cleaner test - this is the space age! 27

There was no problem with the rug either, although it is a fact that we don’t have a very long haired rug. After vacuuming, I managed to shake out very minimal, almost unmentioned dirt. So I find that good too.

I definitely need to mention the display. I think it’s a very good idea for Dreame to take advantage of the opportunities offered by technology and provide us with more data than the competition. I liked that I could see which corners and parts of the apartment are dustier, as the suction power changed and the graph on the display also increased, as well as the roundabout signal turned red.

I’ve never looked at the apartment with such an eye on where it gathers, where it takes the dust and puts it down.

At the end there is another pros and cons, i.e. a positive and a negative. Let's start with the wrong thing.

Xiaomi Dreame T30 vacuum cleaner test - this is the space age! 28

This will affect those who buy a second battery for the machine. Unfortunately, there is no way to charge the battery separately, a charging connector can only be found on the dock or on the handle of the vacuum cleaner. That should have been thought of.

What is positive, however, is that one of the buttons on the display closes the trigger, i.e. the power button. If you press it, you do not have to press the power key during cleaning. This is how I managed to measure the operating time, but it will be much more important for you to e.g. when vacuuming a car, you don't have to keep pressing the button, holding the machine, you can work with the hose and the sub-vacuum.

Conclusion

At the beginning of the article, I said the Dreame T30 is the market leader in suction strength. Well, that’s only half-true, because there’s a Dyson on the market, too, where the performance of vacuum cleaners has been moving in completely different dimensions for a long time.

It’s no coincidence that most testers still compare these Chinese vacuum cleaners to Dyson, because let’s face it, the best machines come from there. At the same time, it is also noticeable that the Chinese are catching up pretty slowly, catching up with the big-name competitor soon.

Xiaomi Dreame T30 vacuum cleaner test - this is the space age! 29

The focus here is soon, because I’ll give Dyson at least one more year, and then I think the advantage is there. The display of the Dreame T30, for example, shows this well, which is really unique, but it is also well shown that the difference in terms of suction power and performance is getting smaller.

Unfortunately (or not) as quality increases, so do prices. This is an inevitable consequence of the thing. The Dreame T30 is also more expensive than the previous series (Dreame T20), and while it brings improvements in uptime, performance, display front, it’s not so much that a T20 might be worth replacing.

The Dreame T30 will be a very good choice for those who love stationary vacuum cleaners anyway, but are already tired of clowning with cheap, entry-level models and would buy one that provides the usual ease of use, but also gives you really good-to-use capabilities.

I also recommend it to those who are looking for top quality but don’t want or can’t afford the prices of Dyson. For them, a Dreame T30 will be the perfect choice, as the machine is essentially uncompromising.

I haven't talked about the price yet!

Dreame T30 was officially launched today at Dreame’s official Aliexpress shop. The introductory price is $ 500 instead of $ 400, of which we can get a $ 20 discount by clicking on Get coupons on the product page. Of course we can order from EU stock, delivery is free!

Plus, the good news is that the first 150 customers will also receive a $ 100 Dreame CC electric MOP (mop) as a gift, so if you’ve bought a similar quality stationary vacuum cleaner anyway, it’s not worth thinking about much, especially with the MOP (but without it) this is a great offer!
