Beautiful mobile with many cameras under 40 thousand - DOOGEE N20 Pro test

Introductory

The DOOGEE N20 was released in the fall of 2019, I remember taking it with me on a motorbike tour to try it out. Good old days.

The N20 was very nice and had very good iron for the price. I really liked it, it sold out a lot, but I also got 1-2 negative feedback about it. Mostly the cameras left something to be desired, which was quite fine anyway.

Now here’s the successor, which, as the Pro suffix shows, has got stronger hardware, better cameras, but the price has only minimally been higher. I was curious about him, so now you can get to know him too.

Packaging, accessories

Nowadays, this chapter used to be short in phone presentations, it won’t be any different now. White box and standard accessories are waiting for us. Description, a SIM needle, made of a slightly thinner but softer material than usual, and a transparent back cover reinforced at the corners, an EU plug charger and a Micro USB connection cable. No other.

External

The design of the phone is no longer a trivial matter. Anno at the N20, too, was one of the most important facts that the device was given the look produced by the leading manufacturers at the time, and this is still the case with the Pro.

Unfortunately, in the case of cheap mobiles, it often happens that in promo pictures, rendered photos that look real, the phone is much prettier than what we will get our hands on. The inaccuracies of the joints are not visible, nor is the poorness of material use.

Even with the DOOGEE N20, I found that the mobile was more beautiful than I expected in the face of a bad experience. With the N20 Pro, that feeling just got even stronger.

The device looks incredibly good. The assembly, the materials, the light playing on the back. While Xiaomi’s cheap phones take it for granted that it only runs on a plastic back cover, the DOOGEE N20 Pro also fits on the glass back cover!

The camera island is simple but flashy. We don't get much buttons, just the usual power switch and volume control. There is a jack on the top and a USB port on the bottom, and on the opposite side of the buttons is the usual double-slot SIM tray, which can hold either two SIMs or a SIM and a memory card, the latter can be up to 256GB.

Szoftver

I exceptionally start the presentation with the software because it’s less interesting. The phone is running a basic version of Android 10, the last security update coming from late last year.

The software is completely basic, which is good rather than bad. We don't find any post-installed vendor programs on it, which is welcome, because they can't usually be removed. So, here we are entrusted with what we install.

The interface is the usual Spartan simplicity, but it shouldn't bother you either, because if you like, you can install Poco Launcher on it, add the MIUI 11 icon pack, and the interface already looks like you're pushing a Poco phone.

Luckily, the iron is plenty enough to move the system, but I’ll talk about that in the following!

Hardware

Exceptionally, we will not delve into the description of iron either, as the central insert has become the Helio P60 known to boredom. Eight cores, 2 GHz maximum clock speed, quite a strong GPU are waiting for us.

There are no big surprises in the tests either, you will see the numbers below.

Antutu’s 177-point result is perfectly acceptable, in fact, it’s actually better than average in this category.

In these cheap mobiles, in the vast majority of cases, we find an iron that scratches the lowest level of evaluable rating, often with today’s quad-core proc. True, these quad-core ones aren’t the same as they were 3-4 years ago, but the difference is felt when one gets a phone with a more powerful eight-core unit.

It won't be smooth during every day use, there will be no stopping pages, no loading of programs, so the eight cores are still eight cores, and the Helio P60 is standing in the mud, it was a good choice.

It is important to note that DOOGEE has not saved any memory or storage space, as no less than 6 GB of the former 128 is available. That’s enough for almost anything, especially since the phone’s cameras aren’t capable of shooting crazy big photos either. So, 128 GB in this category will last forever, plus one day will suffice. And if not, we can still insert a 256 card.

Hardware tests

Continue with the display.

Again, I just have to compare the N20 Pro to similar cheap mobiles. The thing is, most of your opponents only get HD + resolution at the entry level. The diagonals of the displays are usually large, but the resolution…

In the case of the DOOGEE N20 Pro, however, we don't have to compromise here either. The manufacturer has packaged a 6,3-inch FHD + panel into the phone. The resolution is 2280 x 1080 pixels, the pixel density is 428 PPI, and the typical brightness is 450 cd.

All in all, these are pretty good values, and in practice, even during use, are good enough to use the phone without any problems.

The 400 and the typical 450 cds aren’t much to say, but that’s what we get on the entry level from Xiaom, as well as more expensive ones.

Kamerák

In the case of its predecessor, the N20, the cameras have received the most criticism, not by accident. So, since I knew what to expect from the iron, I was most interested in how much the mobile had developed in the field of photography and video.

Well, I have good and bad news.

The good news is that progress is undeniable, the bad news is that I can still get involved in most cameras.

I don't even understand the 2 mega macro at Xiaomi anymore, who should also be trashed from their mobiles and the DOOGEE N20 Pro. The quality is not real, the resolution under the frog's ass, so we prefer to leave.

The only good thing we can say about the 8 mega ultra wide angle camera is that it is at least. The Xiaomi Poco M3, for example, was omitted with noble simplicity, even though it is a more expensive phone. This camera will be loved by those who, for example, photograph a room interior for a real estate ad, others will not really benefit.

The main camera isn't too steely either, but at least it's usable. The resolution of the solution based on the 16-megapixel OV16880 sensor is already very modest nowadays, but the images shot with it are quite good. Let’s add that this is only valid if there is enough light because I would rather neglect photography with it in the dark.

Video recording, on the other hand, isn’t perfect, not least because at the entry level, image stabilization as such has to be forgotten. I stress that this is not a shortcoming of the phone either, it simply does not fit into this price.

I’ll give you a few test shots to see what I’m talking about, the rest in the next chapter.

Conclusion

Let’s start with things I haven’t mentioned before. Unfortunately, I only got this phone for a few days, so I couldn’t use it for weeks, but for the 3-4 days available, I could try it.

In the case of the N20, a common complaint was that the speakerphone was quiet. Interestingly, I haven’t experienced this, but for that reason I’m already afraid to describe that there’s nothing wrong with the sound on the N20 Pro. Even in the end, you take the cross water off me again.

So the point is, I can only report what I’m experiencing myself, and the speaker as well as the microphone worked perfectly well.

There is no problem with the navigation, due to the development of the central chip we get support for four different satellite systems, so under Waze I had everything okay. At first, it was a little harder to find satellites as usual, but from then on, navigation went smoothly.

There is AC standard dual channel Wi-Fi (again only thanks to the central chip) and there is also 5.0 Bluetooth. However, there is no notification LED, and we do not receive NFC, for example, but the latter unfortunately does not fit into this price category from other manufacturers.

However, there are a lot of sensors, such as fingerprint readers. If you don’t want to bother with this, you can also use face-based unlocking, for me both worked quickly and accurately.

Luckily, the shooting was pretty good, at least if we used the main camera. The 16 megapixels aren’t that small, though (the 48 cameras also only take 12 megapixels). The quality is enough for me, at least at this price level.

In terms of photography, I have to point out that even bigger manufacturers like Xiaomi can’t give much more than that, maybe the Poco X3 was the mobile, which we can really talk about camera capabilities that can already be used, but it doesn’t cost that much.

However, the strengths of the phone are not listed so far, but the hardware and external.

As I wrote, the Helio P60 is no longer a piece of today, but plenty is enough for everything, with 6GB of memory and 128GB of storage much above average, as is the high-resolution display.

Quite simply, I can’t think of any other phone that would give us such a serious package for so little money.

And the icing on the cake is that the Doogee N20 Pro is specifically beautiful. Not only in its own category, but one higher up, it would stand out in abundance. We don’t come across either rough details or bad materials. The design is not cluttered, but gives an incredibly uniform picture.

The front-panel display ratio has also become high, the coffees are quite thin, so the DOOGEE N20 Pro is a particularly nice phone, which is sure you won’t be ashamed to put it on the table next to other mobiles.

So the point is this.

After the N20, DOOGEE once again put a very good value for money on the table. The N20 Pro took on the advantages of its predecessor in terms of iron and exterior, but has clearly evolved in terms of iron, cameras and display, making the manufacturer clearly one of the best devices in its category again.

The price remained at the end. They are currently asking 20 forints for the Doogee N37 Pro, which makes the phone a very good buy.
