Introduction

We’ve already gotten used to the fact that Xiaomi isn’t afraid to touch products that don’t fundamentally fit into her portfolio, that is, rather the image we’ve created about them. The portfolio has swelled to such an extent in the last few years that it is so wide-ranging that nowadays almost everything can fit in, we can already expect when they will start producing room bikes or office furniture.

Nevertheless, many were surprised last December by launching a new watch. What was not surprising was that they were making a watch, as they had a smart watch so far, but rather that it was a “traditional silly” watch with gears, springs, that is, all the things we used to identify with a watch.

The predecessor presented last year was quite special. The pierced surface of the steel watch body, the visible watch structure and the transparent back cover gave the watch a truly unique look. It was high quality and elegant, and the price was still acceptable, we could buy it at a height of about 50 thousand forints. It’s not a little money, but knowing what quality we get from Xiaom and knowing how much a branded structure with similar capabilities costs wasn’t much to say.

Honestly, I didn’t like it yet, and the reason for that was the square design. Of course, tastes and slaps are different, but for my part, I’m a believer in traditional round watches. That’s why I’m really enthusiastic now, because the new CIGA has retained the uniqueness of its predecessor, but is now more like a traditional watch.

Xiaomi CIGA: Structure and materials

The new Xiaomi CIGA has thus retained all the good qualities of its predecessor. The body, designed by Michael Young, is still made of 1,3 millimeters thick, high-strength stainless steel alloy and features a sapphire crystal “glass” with a hardness of 9 degrees on the Mohs scale, bringing it close to the hardness of a diamond. This means that the watch is well resistant to scratches and various physical impacts. The watch is available in two colors, black and silver.

The interior structure based on the Seagull ST2551JK has been given gold and silver colors, with 21 oscillating movements per hour with moving parts. The clockwork itself contains 600 gears, some of which rotate on the 25 ruby ​​crystals. For the accuracy of the structure, the manufacturer specifies an error range between -19 and +15 seconds during 30 hours of operation. The watch case has got minimal protection against water and dust, so I wouldn’t dare put it under a tap anymore.

In addition to the watch, you can buy a "strap" made of two different materials and two different colors. One of these is made of leather, the other is braided stainless steel, the latter is black and silver to match the color of the watch.

The first version of the Xiaomi CIGA was also a beauty award-winning piece, but the successor has no reason to be ashamed either, as it won the iF Design Award in Germany. The new round design is incredibly delicately curved, and the light passing through the openwork dial and back, breaking the gears, conjures up a wonderful shadow play before us. The watch is a light, yet elegant and durable piece that makes us a faithful companion for many years to come. The exterior and workmanship make it so special that it even has room for the wrist of a top manager.

With interchangeable leather or metal straps, the watch can make a sporty and elegant impression, so it will not be a stranger to not only a hearing, but even a trip.

Xiaomi CIGA: conclusion

The second edition of the Xiaomi CIGA didn’t get cheap either. Its price, like its predecessor, is expected to reach $ 200, which in my opinion is not a lot of money for it. I probably wouldn’t switch from smartwatch to mechanical myself anymore, but if I did, CIGA would be the reason.

It’s a stunningly beautiful structure that beats the hearts of watch lovers and touches even my heart, which in turn is a fan of smart stuff.
