CeBIT 2009: MSI Winki, the USB operating system

MSI unveiled its self-developed operating system at the Hanover event.

Micro-Star International's operating system, Winki, comes in the form of a USB-connected device: the Linux-based application can now be loaded by fitting it to the appropriate pins on the motherboard.

Winki, which speaks 15 languages, allows you to perform common tasks such as browsing the web, chatting, making VOIP calls, or just viewing photos stored on your hard drive. An integral part of the operating system is a chat program called Pidgin, which supports fifteen protocols: MSN, ICQ, Yahoo! and Google's instant messaging service is also available.

MSI will certainly add Winkit to its high-end motherboards, but nothing else has been revealed in this regard.
