BenQ simultaneously introduced and launched its DVD burner, which roasts at 18x and 20x speeds.
The DW1800 and DW1810 write DVD-R and DVD + R media 18 times, while the DW2000 and DW2010 write DVD-R and DVD + R media 20 times. The only difference is that models ending in type 10 support LightScribe technology.

For optical drives, the write and read speeds are as follows:
- writing: 20 × / 18 × DVD-R, 20 × / 18 × DVD + R, 8 × DVD + RW, 6 × DVD-RW, 8 × DVD + R DL, 8 × DVD-R DL, 12 × DVD RAM, 48 × CD-R, 32 × CD-RW
- reading: 16 × DVD and 48 × CD, the average search time in both cases is 160 ms
