Roidmi, as many must know well, operates under the auspices of Xiaomi. The manufacturer first became known for its car accessories, but more recently they have also despised the stationary vacuum cleaner front.
It probably came as a surprise to many that the manufacturer also ventured into the field of robotic vacuum cleaners last year, and even more surprisingly, this was immediately stepped into the top category.
Today, the tip of robotic vacuum cleaners is self-emptying machines. These, as their name suggests, are capable of vacuuming our apartment for weeks at a time so we have anything to do with them. If the cleaning is programmed, it is enough to empty the dust bag in the dock every few weeks, we have nothing else to do.
What makes Xiaomi Roidmi Eve Plus plus?
The machine also has plus and completely average capabilities, so we can say that the real plus in this case will be the docking station. It is essentially a second vacuum cleaner capable of sucking out the accumulated dirt from the robot. The capacity of the paper bags in the dock is 3 liters, so it will fit a lot of garbage! The dock is very good for the design, and of course the large LED display on the front is very useful.
In the extra line we can also indicate that the machine arrives to us, interestingly packed in two boxes. A separate cardboard hides the vacuum cleaner, another the dock. The reason for the two boxes is perhaps one more thing that can be evaluated as an extra. And this is nothing but a lot of accessories!
At one time, it was perfectly normal to get at least one extra HEPA filter, possibly a round brush, next to a robotic vacuum cleaner, but there are manufacturers who also skim these out of the box. ROIDMI, on the other hand, has decided to give you a nice starter pack so we don’t have to deal with accessories for a while.
In the box, the buyer will find two HEPA filters, 5 dust bags for the dock and 20 replaceable pads for the mop, which, assuming an average apartment, will be enough consumables for up to half a year.
What are the qualities that can be said to be normal?
The machine has been given a laser unit to map the apartment, which has already appeared in the lower categories these days, so the time will come when no one will be amazed at a gun turret on top of the vacuum cleaner.
We don't find anything really special about sensors, except for one. There are standard infrared sensors to measure the side distance, to detect the step, and there is also a collision sensor at the front of the vacuum cleaner. What’s not very common lately (I don’t even understand why) is the anti-jamming sensor that detects when the machine is pushed to the ground by something. This is also a plus.
The battery (5200 mAh), suction power (2700 Pa), water and dust tank capacity (250/300 milliliters) are also average, and the machine can of course be integrated under the Mi Home interface with other Xiaomi smart devices. next to it. The two-centimeter threshold climbing capability is not new either, but the fact that not one but two circular brushes work on the belly of the machine can be appreciated again.
Noise levels are below 75 decibels, even at maximum revs, and up to 250 square feet can be cleaned on a single charge.
We don’t find insanely big news in terms of functionality or software capabilities either, but the testers of the machine, without exception, praise the aggregation of the interface available under the Mi Home app. This is a very important aspect when choosing a machine, as there is a good chance that we will be able to control the robot from here, and you can run into a fused application.
The software knowledge of the vacuum cleaner therefore represents the usual level that can be expected from the category.
Of course, you can save multiple maps, and you can even assign these maps to different levels of the house. We can start cleaning the whole apartment, but we can also choose rooms for this. There is an intensive cleaning service, in which case vacuum the designated rooms twice.
Of course, we get virtual walls, there are no go zones, and we can designate smaller areas for intensive cleaning. The machine also has automatic carpet detection, if it is switched on, it will automatically increase the speed when it reaches the carpet.
What can be seen as an plus here is the programming of the self-emptying function. By default, this happens every time the machine is connected to the dock, but you can change this. You can even turn off self-emptying (say it doesn’t make much sense), but it’s also much more useful to set it to just sniff the dust out of the outer dust bag once for more than one dock.
This can be important in smaller homes where it is unnecessary to start the vacuum cleaner in the dock each time you dock.
The mopping is left at the end, which is more of a wipe than this machine. No problem, it’s just good to know that the dried syrup won’t scream. On the other hand, after vacuuming, it removes the very fine layer of dust left on the floor, so our floor will shine nicely after use.
I haven’t talked about the exterior yet, which is also average, though, for me, the larger plastic black insert and the matching black line running around the roof fit into the white plastic.
The quality of the materials and assembly is what we have been used to from Xiaom for years, which is smooth.
I gathered the experiences of our Facebook group about the machine. According to this, there is no problem with the basic functions, the dock also works well. The only thing the machine is delicate about is that it needs to be provided with a “residence” where there is space in front of it as well as next to it, because otherwise it tends to get confused about docking.
