Introducing: Kolink - Gamer houses

On the previous page, you found just one picture showing the packaging of the Gamer houses. Isn’t that a coincidence, I don’t want to shoot the joke ahead, what would they show if you saw the houses right away?

The packaging shows that this is the usual “Tesco economical” solution, only the stripes are missing from the boxes. This is somewhere sympathetic to me, I am frugal, I prefer that the price of the hardware I buy doesn’t include fancy packaging. It’s so much cheaper, at least hopefully, because you might as well simply make extra profit. Manufacturers can do it, it is not up to our government to implement a 10% price reduction. Let’s say it wouldn’t be bad if all the hardware suddenly went down in price, but let’s not be insatiable, let’s also rejoice that there are no more iron curtains and no embargoes on advanced computing stuff. Well, we're fine, I'm saying!

So the packaging comes as no surprise, just as the boxed houses are lightweight. We have also seen this with other Kolink products. It can be assumed that thick plating cannot fit in the low price. True, being a gamer, we could have hoped it would be different now, but that doesn’t seem to have changed.

So let's see what we find in the boxes!

Kelly-Tech has now sent us three houses, which, if we want to be strict, is only two houses, as for one pair, the only difference is the front panel. The third nook is different in size, plus there is no power supply in it.

You can find the two smaller pieces under the type designations CXA-A30-450-12 and CXA-A32-450-102, respectively. Since they are the same in terms of frame, these houses will be treated as one, of course we will take a picture of the front panel to see the difference.

The first thing that pops up after unpacking is that these houses don’t even look bad. The entire frame, including the back, also got a black color, and the front got interesting lines while staying within the bounds of good taste. Speaking of the front, it’s important to mention that while the plastic isn’t very thick, it does feel pleasant to the touch, and by no means seems crappy. In the lower part, we find a lattice part in both houses, which is suspected to cover the fan space. We will make sure of this after unscrewing the side panel.

There is no difference in the number or type of controls, only the layout changes for the two types. No extras can be found, only the standard and expected connectors line up next to each other. Two USB, one microphone on, and one headphone output, as well as power and reset buttons. It’s not an overcomplicated thing, but at least there’s so much good in it that the connectors and buttons are on the top of the front panel, not on the bottom or side of the hood. We somehow like these solutions a little.

Turning the houses around, we can see that too many things can’t catch our eyes. Two things, maybe though. One is that the usual flat metal sheet is not the side plate, because on the one hand a protruding part is pressed into it, on the other hand we find a large lattice part as we can screw a 12 or 14 centimeter fan.

The pressing is good not only because of the design factor that is important to the eye, but also because the thin plate, which is already common in Kolink houses, does not twist and twist, but is especially tight. The usefulness of fan installability I don’t think needs to be explained, especially now that we’re experiencing real heatwave days.

Let's see the third, bigger house! You can find this product as CXA-SA01 in retail. If you can say that, this house is a favorite of the Kolink gamer series. The front panel is particularly cool, with a large triangular power button and connectors below it. As with the previous models, the front panel is completely lattice, which is really welcome.

The side of the house doesn’t hold much interest, mainly because the plate on the side is the same as the little ones. However, looking at the back cover, our eyes catch something. Below is the power supply slot! Okay, you can say that there is nothing special about this, but here we are talking about a Kolink house, where this solution is strange and even surprising. We add we don't cry about it. Now, however, we are also curious about the interior, we have a feeling that a cottage can hold some more interesting things!
