Intel has announced the Atom CE5300 media processor

The new processor could go into next-generation set-top boxes and media gateways.

The fresh model also beats its predecessors in performance, graphics and power usage, and will appear on devices like the Amino Freedom Live media gateway. So we will be able to stream different videos seamlessly to our big screen TVs, smartphones or tablets all over the house. The hardware, codenamed Berryville, is Intel’s fourth-generation SoC and the first 32-core dual-core solution in this segment. The CE5300 also includes HyperThreading, virtualization support, a 3D / 2D graphics engine, integrated consumption management and an H.264 hardware encoder.
