The ADO DECE e-bike has received SGS CE certification

We all know that consumers' rights, product safety standards, environmental compliance and a bunch of other things are all taken seriously enough in the EU to make a product marketable in the EU. This is the certificate we are commonly referred to as CE.

The ADO DECE e-bike has received SGS CE certification

SGS is a company that is eligible to issue this CE certificate, so manufacturers must contact such a company if they want to market their product in the EU. Adequate due diligence is the responsibility of product testing, consulting, and guidance for companies like SGS.

The fact that ADO DECE bicycles have obtained SGS CE certification means that these products comply with EU regulations in all respects. This is the rule not only for the finished product, but essentially for the entire manufacturing process, from the inspection of the design through the issuance of the type approval through the tests to all the manufacturing processes. SGS has been certified not only by the bicycles but also by the ADO laboratory.

The fact that the ADO has started to obtain CE certification at all shows that they have the determination to enter the EU market legally with their products. The fact that they have complied with the qualification process shows their exposure to the conduct of that process.

Okay, so this has been like a press release so far, although I wrote this myself, it wasn't published by ADo. But the bottom line is:

ADO DECE products with the CE mark can now be marketed completely legally in the EU. DECE bikes meet quality assurance requirements in all respects and, of course, EU rules on what an electric bike can look like. In practice, this means that the motor power of CE marked bikes is limited to 250 watts and, unlike the international versions, does not include a throttle.

The first of the two major differences can be implemented in software, so in practice the power of more than 250 watts (for some bikes) can be restored at your own risk. However, the lack of a throttle is already a hardware mismatch. Although it is possible to get a suitable throttle lever on the ALIexpress, it is not guaranteed that the connectors required for retrofitting the throttle lever will be on the bike. This must be taken into account when making a purchase.

Lastly, I would like to warn everyone once again that, according to EU regulations, all bicycles with an engine power of more than 250 watts and / or the engine assist do not switch off at a speed of 25 Km / h and / or can be started and operated with the accelerator. , it should already be considered as an auxiliary motorcycle and, as such, compulsory insurance, a driving license and a helmet.

So you won't need ADO CE-marked bikes, because they are EU-compliant in every way!
