It’s been quite a few months since we marveled at Arctic’s game console. Then came headphones, speakers and other weirdness. Of course, it’s not the products that are weird, but the fact that this is supplied by Arctic Cooling, known as a cooling expert.
From the outset, the problem here is that this company is no longer that company. More specifically, the same Swiss company remained, but in the meantime they realized that they would not stay afloat just from the production of coolers. They were probably right. The PC, the desktop computer in the traditional sense, is losing more and more space to newcomers. It's not enough that notebooks and netbooks have taken off a good deal of the market;
Just a few years ago, we were wondering what kind of Silverstone case to build an HTPC in, and now we can break down which mini-PC to buy for that purpose. Yes, it considers the whole machine complete, often with a pre-installed operating system. Then there are the nettops, the all-in-one machines, and on top of that, we got a slew of smartphones and tablets around our necks that no longer run a desktop operating system.
In the light of the above, it does not seem a heretical idea to believe that the PC, the PC industry, is dying in its current form, more precisely in recent decades. The total passing is still a long way off, as those who want to play with the latest graphic artwork have no alternative yet, so hardcore gamers will stay on the PC line for now, but this community won’t support any manufacturers.
The Swiss took time. They kept the usual refrigerated portfolio, but added a few more product lines to it. These are run over on the next page.
