AMD FX-8350: 8 core at 4 GHz
Sufficient information has been gathered about the flagship of the second wave of FX processors, which is now being reported in a news story.
The AMD FX-8350 introduces four Piledriver modules, which are essentially improved versions of previous Bulldozer modules. The so-called Vishera chip-based processor is expected to run at 4,0 GHz, but news reports that Turbo Core 3.0 will be able to do so with an additional 200 MHz. No really profound changes have been made - 32nm manufacturing technology, 8-8MB first- and second-level caching remain - but even minor architectural refinements result in the AMD FX-8350 already at the same clock speed by 10-15% percent able to step down its predecessor. Despite its brutally high operating frequency, the novelty is in the same 125-watt TDP class as the AMD FX-8150.
According to the current schedule, ready-to-manufacture samples can be completed in early August, as a result of which mass production can only begin. Since engineers can still slightly modify the processor clock, the above data should not be considered as numbers engraved in stone! The release is expected in October.
