Why Alfawise?

Alfawise is Gearbest's own brand, only available from them. In our opinion, this in itself provides some assurance that these products will go through a sufficiently detailed quality control, as we can rightly assume that the web store does not want to expire itself with junk stuff. Of course, this is not to say that every product that runs under the Alfawise name is automatically good, but rather that this brand deserves attention. Well, because of the former, there was interest on my part, so I didn’t secretly welcome the electric toothbrush with enough enthusiasm.

Why just sonic?

In order to avoid misunderstandings, it is advisable to clarify the working principle of the gadget. The sonic technology in this case means that the brush head cleans the teeth with a sweeping motion. The amplitude (oscillation) of the movements can be adjusted in several stages, making it a good choice for both sensitive teeth and for those who cling to the rather strong scrubbing movement. The point is now easy to guess: Fast-moving toothbrushes (up to 31 vibrations per minute!) Simply sweep aside plaque and food debris accumulated on the teeth and gum line, and fortunately can fight the tartar - unfortunately in most cases it is more of a waiting for a dentist. With the sonic toothbrushes, it is not necessary to make scrubbing movements, instead we only have to hold the device in place for a few seconds, the rest is taken care of by the vibrating motor.

For my part, I believe that the sonic implementation is a great mid-way solution: they are more affordable than ultrasonic toothbrushes, but at the same time they bring the right quality, and I think they are more efficient than the swivel versions.

Wrapping

The solid-looking yet fairly large box at first glance suggests that we’re not dealing with a low-cost model. This is partly true, at the level of accessories, the overall picture is quite jawy: a travel case, an induction charger, an English user manual (plus a tip card) and two spare heads. The latter are DuPont products with a high-density, medium-hard bristle feel. Of course, here too the usual duration is given for the service life, i.e. it is recommended to replace them every three months. It’s worth noting that replacement heads usually run for $ 3,99, so it’s an affordable cost.

A few words about the process of induction charging: Michael Faraday discovered that when we change the electric current in a wire coil, a changing magnetic field is created that can induce a current in a nearby coil. The thing is not so complicated from here, the primary roll is in the charger and the secondary is in the toothbrush. The electric toothbrush has the protection you expect, namely it boasts IPX7 water resistance, but this no longer applies to the charger, so we must store it in a dry place. Charging itself is a pretty simple process anyway: we have to connect the USB-ended cable to a charging head and put the toothbrush on the stand with a light motion, and then we just have to wait - not a little. Yes, the wireless charging will not stand out with its speed this time either, the manufacturer claims that the first feeding can take up to 16 hours, after which half a day will be enough. The internal battery has a capacity of 800 mAh and serves us on paper for 30 days. The practice shows somewhat differently, the actual operating time will be somewhere between 30-40 minutes, which is not a bad value at all in this price segment, but it is not enough for a month.

A practical little thing for your traveler (picture above), we love this kind of attention. The case can also store two spare heads, otherwise it creates the effect of a large spectacle case, but its internal arrangement is otherwise correct.

Use

After the above, now maybe let’s take a look at the stuff. You can see that the design is on a well-trodden path: it is switched on by pressing the button in the gold-colored frame (scrolling is also done with this), the current mode is highlighted by a tasteful blue backlight. There is also some design element at the junction of the toothbrush head and the main module, the charge indicator can be found at the bottom and the connection point is located at the bottom.

After the required feeding, there is enough work left to connect the spare head, after which the device can be used immediately. When choosing the modes, we strongly recommend that whoever (like me) is the first to use an electric toothbrush should definitely start with the weakest mode, i.e. the “Massage” mode. Unfortunately, it was not possible to find out how much vibration the head performs in this mode, the manufacturer only provided this information in the so-called “Clean” mode, there we can talk about 31 vibrations. Obviously, we can’t be sure of the authenticity of this, in any case, the fact is that the Alfawise S000 delivers a very convincing performance in this area. We also have a mode called “Sensitive” where the device essentially provides a kind of transition between the first two settings. There is even a “White” switch that offers teeth whitening, and the “Polish”, which is also brutally strong, the polishing function is also part of the repertoire. The latter has a one-minute timing, and the other four operate with the classic scheme (two minutes). The classic scheme is quite accurately understood to mean that it offers the best efficiency, according to surveys. It is advisable to perform the brushing of the teeth in four steps (more on this later) in 100-second increments, which the S30 intends to assist, inter alia, by stopping for a moment at said intervals.

Experiences

Since this product is specifically recommended for beginners, so to speak, as the first electric toothbrush, it is appropriate to act accordingly. This is going to be really easy anyway, since this was my first toothbrush like this for me. So here are some basic tips:

  • The approx. it is worth dispersing a pea toothpaste before switching on, as the toothbrushes with vibrating technology “grind” the toothpaste with lightning speed.
  • As the tool is significantly larger, it is also slightly heavier than a traditional toothbrush, so we will have a hard time coping with it in the first days - perseverance !. It is recommended to start the acquaintance with the “Massage” mode and then switch to stronger grades every week.
  • Brushing starts on the outside of the dentition, according to the four zones of the mouth: lower right, upper right, bottom left and top left, or bottom and top, and outside and inside.
  • Perfect oral hygiene is obviously not guaranteed by a single device, e.g. we will also need a tongue scraper because the toothbrush head is unsuitable for this purpose.

Summary

The Alfawise S100 did not disappoint, although it should be noted that we were immediately aware of the purchase price, the main focus here is on the best possible implementation of the basic functions. This has been proven, so it is not worth looking for things like a utility, pressure sensor, etc. for this type. For those who formulate such needs, we can say that this aptitude will not be the right choice. In our opinion, this electric toothbrush may be the optimal choice primarily for the first product. We base our last statement on the following:

  • reliable brand, with quality material use and correct assembly;
  • meets (almost) full requirements - with the exception of the utility, has similar knowledge to the significantly more expensive Xiaomi Soocare X3;
  • user-friendly pricing, good availability.

The Alfawise S100 offers exactly what you need first, but it comes in the right package. For the first time, probably few people want to analyze their brushing in an android app, and consequently this will be easy to give up. Nor is it the last thing that the replacement heads are approx. they cost half as much as the Soocare X3. Here, however, we can't go without saying that the distributor comes with three spare heads in addition to the more modest yet cheaper RST2056, so it's a little strange that it only ran for two in the case of the S100 - otherwise (unfortunately) it's more common. The other shortcoming can also be related to this point: we did not find any mention of indicator tufts of bristles that should indicate wear. There are lumps painted in different colors, but due to lack of time, we could not determine if they would fade. As the official description makes no mention of this, it is assumed that this also reinforces the list of shortcomings.

All in all, we were dealing with a product to be taken seriously, and we are still (fiercely) debating whether this is the better product in terms of price / value, or the one presented earlier. SEAGO SG-507.
