ZAGG has also officially announced Boost NearFiled Audio, a speaker under the iFrogz brand, which it unveiled earlier this year at CES in Las Vegas.
The device in question is essentially a small portable amplifier for any mobile or mp3 player. It wouldn’t even carry anything special by then, but how it works is already a little more interesting and deserves attention. The amplifier can play back the sound from any mobile phone or mp3 player with an external speaker. All you have to do is simply place the device you want to mount on top of the amplifier. In case the device does not have a speaker, a conventional 3,5 mm jack input provides an auxiliary input.
With its 25,4 x 76,2 x 127 millimeters, the Boost fits in the palm of your hand and with its weight of 141,7 grams it is no problem to move it either (this weight is to be understood without the batteries). Boost uses a patented technology that can synchronize external sound to a signal that will then be able to be output to a 2W x 2 RMS speaker. So no cable, no bluetooth or Wi-Fi connection. Many may have doubts about the quality, but those who have experienced what Boost can do so far have all spoken appreciatively about it. The energy needed for the operation is obtained from 3 AA batteries, which enable our amplifier to work for 15 hours. It can operate for up to half a year in standby mode.
The raison d’être of the technology is unquestionable, and the positive response to quality is also encouraging, so the only question is whether the $ 39,99 end-user price is worth it to us.
