The Xiaomi MIX Alpha doesn't hit stores, but Mi MIX 4 comes!
Xiaomi seems to have shot a little too on target with the MIX Alpha, and that is now acknowledged.

Xiaomi mi mix alpha 1

I already wrote last week about holding my first public show this year at Xiaomi tomorrow, August 11th. This is also due because the company is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year, but the spring balloon blast has been delayed due to the corona virus. We already know that new devices are coming, they will be introduced, but we only found out today that MIX 4 is not up to date.

Lei Jun, co-founder and CEO of Xiaomi at Weibon, answered some questions from fans. These were:

  1. When will the new MIX arrive?
  2. When will MIX Alpha be released?
  3. What about Xiaomi's own chipset?

There is no exact answer to the first question yet. The company is working on the new phone, which promises to be built with real high-tech, so don’t expect it to arrive recently (ed .: if I guessed it, I’d wait for the phone before Christmas). Rumor has it that a 120 Hz curved display and 40 watts of charge will be for sure, but those wouldn’t be big surprises.

The answer to the second question in a nutshell is never. Jun said the research project on MIX Alpha was successfully completed. However, he acknowledged that the incorporation of the 360-degree display was too ambitious, so the company gave up and would rather focus on MIX 4 in the future. So Mi MIX alpha will never get on store shelves.

The idea of its own chipset is not new, the first Surge chopset was introduced by the company in 2017. Practical application then lagged behind, Jun wrote that they faced serious difficulties after the presentation. However, he claims the project is not over, even though there has been silence around him lately. Development is underway in the background, and if it turns out that Surge S1 will have a successor, fans will be notified as well.
