Samsung will soon release a new software development package for its Smart TVs

The biggest difference between SDK 5.0 and the current SDK 4.5 is that Samsung has greatly expanded the range of electronics and home appliances compatible with Smart TVs, allowing consumers to control their lighting, air conditioning or refrigerator with a Smart TV app.

SDK 5.0 now includes the Web UI Framework, making it easier for developers to incorporate spectacular animations and designs into their apps. Samsung is the first company in the industry to use PNaCL technology. This makes it easier for developers to create high-quality games or other applications equipped with complicated video processing capabilities.

Other new features in the package include an enhanced Multi Screen - which lets you run apps on your TV and mobile device at the same time - and a browser-based IDE that lets you develop apps for your TV from a simple browser.
