We can see the sales of the German Mindfactory, one of the largest computer traders in the market there.

Doesn't your dog need an INTEL processor ?!

As is well known, INTEL desktop processors have become insanely more expensive in recent weeks, largely due to the chip giant sticking to 14nm manufacturing technology. The rate of price increase on some models has reached dramatic levels without exaggeration, resulting in irrational situations such as the encounter between the Celeron G4900 and the Athlon 200GE, or the clash between the Pentium Gold G5500 and the Ryzen 3 2200G, but the Core i5 8400 is not necessarily the Ryzen either. 7 It was invented against 1800X.

AMD Intel CPU Marktanteile Retail June September 2018

People seem to have taken the paper quickly and the transition was lightning fast, so in terms of Mindfactory sales, 4 out of 3 shoppers are already voting for one of the AMD models, with weekly sales jumping from 2 units to nearly 000 units. After a closer look at the statistics, two clear conclusions can be drawn:

  • some customers are waiting out as total sales have fallen somewhat;
  • most, on the other hand, find a suitable AMD processor for themselves, so the majority (in the retail segment) simply moved to the other side.

We are also curious about the October data, when INTEL's problems will probably be projected for the whole month - in the first half of September there were still digestible prices, in the second half of the month the numbers were fired.

It is worth noting that (to our knowledge) it was not the chip giant that raised the prices, but the traders. This is not surprising due to the regularity of supply and demand, but we considered it important to note that the process is simply due to poor availability. Looking at the price trend, it can also be seen that no further deterioration is (perhaps) expected, the numbers may stabilize at this level for the time being.
