The company is expanding the EF Cinema Lens family to provide an even greater creative selection for video professionals. Joining the seven high-end lenses announced in 2011, the new models support 4K (4096 × 2160 pixels) resolution, but will be smaller, lighter and more compact, offering an outstanding combination of mobility and quality. Lenses available with both EF and PL mounts will be available at a competitive price to make cutting-edge performance available to a wider range of users.
The EF Cinema Lens family with two wide-angle film zoom lenses, the EF-mount CN-E15.5-47mm T2.8 LS and the PL-mount CN-E15.5-47mm T2.8 L SP, and two film zoom telephoto lenses, expands with CN-E30-105mm T2.8 LS (EF) and CN-E30-105mm T2.8 L SP (PL). Ideal for next-generation 4K film cameras, the new lenses complement Canon's existing high-end EF Cinema lenses to form the Cinema EOS system, which includes lenses, digital film cameras and digital SLR (DSLR) categories.
In addition to being compatible with industry-standard Super 35mm cameras, the four-film zoom lens also offers outstanding flexibility. The body of each lens is compact and light, as well as a wide range of focus, making it ideal for manual shots as well. In addition to Canon’s existing high-end fixed EF Cinema lenses, the new lenses offer greater variety and a wider range of creative options for any film professional.
Prototypes of the new film zoom lenses will be on display at NAB 2012, one of the world’s largest events for video equipment, broadcast equipment and digital media products. NAB 2012 will be held April 16-19, in Las Vegas, USA.
