Canon is celebrating the completion of its 80 millionth EF lens

Canon has announced that it has reached another milestone in lens manufacturing: the company's 80 millionth EF lens has also been completed. This result was achieved just nine months after the announcement in October 2011 (coinciding with the 25th anniversary of the CANON EOS system) of the 70 millionth lens.

“Ever since we created the very first EF lens in 1987, we have made it our primary responsibility to offer the best possible performance to all our users without exception,” said Steven Marshall, Director of Product Marketing, Canon Europe Consumer Imaging. - “Our decades of experience and the use of the latest optical technologies make our EF lenses not only of excellent image quality, but also creative and flexible to use, whether it is for still images or video. We have now reached a significant milestone that says more about the quality and popularity of our EF lens range. ”

Since the start of production in 1987, production has gradually expanded to four plants.

EF lens manufacturing milestones:

  • 1995: EF lens production exceeds 10 million.
  • 2001: The 20 millionth EF lens is completed.
  • 2006: The birth of the 30 millionth EF lens.
  • 2008: The number crosses 40 million in April.
  • 2009: We have 50 million.
  • 2011: The sixty millionth is produced in January.
  • 2011: EF lens production grows by ten million in nine months, exceeding 70 million in October.
