The new chip speeds up forty percent, which is what you need to use the larger image sensors.

Image processing is one of the highlights today. The manufacturers seem to have voted in favor of pixel merging. This is suspected to be due to the fact that in contrast to the larger pixel size, in the case of many small pixels, software can perform more tricks in image enhancement. So the point is that the sensors of the cameras built into the phones will work with more and more pixels, so in the future it is not inconceivable that instead of the currently used 2 x 2 (i.e. merging four pixels) it will be possible to merge up to 8 x8 or even 16 x 16 pixels. .

Of course, more pixels results in more data, so the pace of image processing needs to be significantly accelerated. If we look at the 200-megapixel sensors that represent the next step, we can already talk about a resolution of 50 megapixels for a quad-CFA image, which means a lot of data. Interestingly, Qualcomm did not choose the most obvious solution to increase performance, so it increased the clock signal, and even reduced it. This comes in handy in terms of consumption, as it can handle ISp with 16 percent less energy, while, as you’ve read above, performance has risen by 40 percent, from 14 gigapixels to 2 gigapixels.
