A Russian collector has amassed 1000 processors

We also find quite modern specimens, but the oldest is from the mid-seventies.

There are those who collect stamps, some who have beer coasters, coins, or even garden dwarves, we could continue the line for a long time. A young Russian man chose the processors: he recently unveiled his “modest” collection to the public, which counts just over 1000 CPUs.

In addition to the more common Intel, AMD, IBM, VIA and TI procik, there are also rarer brands such as Toshiba, Cyrix, Siemens, NEC or Mitsubishi, and even products from many Russian manufacturers. Some specimens are marked “USSR clone”, which are memories of Soviet times, presumably most of them have long been forgotten. The oldest CPU is perhaps the Intel 4004 or the 1976 made in 8085, and the latest is the 2003 Prescott core Pentium 4.

It’s interesting to think that a good few members of the collection may be older than us, and most of them are still functional. The full list ITT readable.
